They even make a point of her not picking up the dead masters lightsaber in the first episode indicating she only was gonna use the lightsaber against the master, not to keep it afterwards.
I noticed her reaching for the lightsabers both times and heard it referenced by the shop vendor guy, but didn't know about the sith trials part, makes a lot more sense now :)
I very much believe that she wants to grab the lightsaber to make it possible to defeat the Jedi in hand-to-hand combat, so she can please her master by defeating a Jedi without a weapon, something he has made very clear he wants her to do
I did wonder why Mae kept reaching for the lightsabers but didn’t take it from Indara after she fell. Makes sense that she’s not ready to have one yet.
Interesting, though I always found the bleeding of a kybar crystal kinda dumb. I miss the EU where the saber color was determined by the gem or crystal you used. Also you could call it nitpicking, but what I find goofy is how they say she's supposed to kill a Jedi without a weapon when she's doing exactly that. I think they should have said she must kill without a lightsaber.
It is referenced though that those kills with her weapons were failures on her part. When she's talking to Qimir and getting the poison. And it's along the lines of "there are still 2 Jedi left". so it really is the case she isn't "allowed" to kill them with weapons.. but instinct or habit ir what have you, has her falling back on using weapons to defeat the first two Jedi.
…that’s still how the Saber Color is determined… bleeding the Kyber Crystal just turns it Red if you’re corrupting it. And then healing an already Bled Kyber Crystal turns it White.
I think a better thing to do sense the show is trying to push that she isn’t evil and is just getting revenge would be if she actually did something good like instead of threatening the bartender maybe trying to save him and the Jedi would do they same. Would be cool and considering the views she has of them and they have of her I think it would make quite the interesting scene to develop the characters however that might be to complex for these script writers
As the matter of fact I am sure a lot of people noticed Mei was trying to grab Indara's and Sol's lightsaber and I figured if she's doing for that she gotta kill them with it. I didn't know however that it's a Sith trial for an Acolyte to become an apprentice to a Sith. Although I feel like Mei while distracting Indara with that knifes she throws at other people she should have made an attempt at grabbing her lightsaber from her hand even though that is riskier to do so. Her mentor however requires Mei to slay them without using a weapon so I imagine she is disarming them which will make it easier for her to fight them hand to hand.
@@CloneScavengerVulpin8389 nah, it was more habit and overreliance. It's mentioned in the shop with Qimir and that her first two kills were basically failures on her part and that she doesn't want her master to find out, but that it's forgivable because she has two more chances (or Jedi) left.
Not sure if I should focus on this scene more, as I'd only notice the sudden inability of Jedi Master to stop another dagger in mid air before killing her.... ah, that part was really weak.
@seasnek7024 I don't see that this is a big deal. Simpsons even made fun of this type of fan reaction in the one Treehouse of Horror episodes, with Lucy Lawless. The nerds were asking her all these questions about the in universe stuff and her best answer was a wizard did it. If the actors don't recall or remember something about a franchise who cares?
@@matthaeusprime6343 it was also for the fact that he said Darth Vader isn't really a bad guy. He clearly is. It comes across that the actor doesn't understand the characters
@@madtitan0825 The problem is, a lot of the plot makes no sense. The dialogue isn't very well written, the way the characters act sometimes is a bit cringe, and you just don't really care or feel invested about the characters. It feels like I'm watching a bunch of people cosplaying around on a fan film.
I like that consistant hinting at how Sith get their red blades across Disney media, almost confirmed as a tradition here. Too many breaks in continuity encouraged by Filoni make it hard to trust Disney's SW lore. We shouldn't lower our standards, however, because this is merely a tid-bit mostly irrelevent to any main plot, and the latter is where the corporates & 'creatives' tend to focus. If someone managed to sneak or shoe-horn this lore past the decision-makers, good on them. Initially I disliked this 'bleeding' crystals concept even if it makes some sense, but if they show Mae struggling to 'bleed' one (not simple a one-off ritual as with Vader) then I might be willing to accept it. Not holding my breath.
The show is so mid. There’s great parts and the story is very interesting. The sets are terrible and the acting is hit or miss. It’s a shame to see Disney do this to us the fans. Garbage company. Sell the Star Wars rights to Apple.
I noticed, it's stupid. It's really dumb for an acolyte to have to kill a master, that's the whole point of TRAINING them, to get to the level to be able to slay jedi. Also, to have to do it without a lightsaber is also stupid considering fully trained extremely powerful sith use lightsabers to kill jedi, ya know... because they have to.
I mean bruh honestly just make the shit rated r and make it for adults thats what this and the fans need, youve got hulu just 4 clicks away give us what we want now, make it violent and dark edgy and brutal
Btw she used weapons to kill the jedi she won only cuz it was writen by disney cuz she is nowhere near ready and trained strong enough be able to beat a master but i guess thats just the power of being a woman gets u free passes
