Got 14" on my t sport with a tbr comp s and get to keep my pillion pegs without the belt rubbing on the bracket at full extension with some tweaking lol
@waferzworld I went with yss shocks that can be height adjusted. I just put the bike on a lift and wound them out after setting preload untill there was a tiny gap about a matchstick width. With me on the bike the gap increases.
How about on a roadside special 2021 I wanted to get the dual tab performance exhaust can I clear it with the 14s on the rear? Or I’d have to go a short single exhaust?
Hello, For Touring models looking to run 14" shocks you would generally need the short single pipe that stops before the axle nut to ensure 14" shocks can hit full extension without contact. for anything other exhaust setups, we would recommend the 13". When running 14" shocks we only recommend 2+ front suspension as well, so just something else to consider. If you are not installing or planning to install a longer front suspension as well, then sticking with the 13" is your best bet. 13" Revo-ARC =3-1/2" of travel 14" Revo-ARC =4" of travel. We hope this answers your questions and if you need any further assistance, please feel free to use our live chat on Legendsuspensions.com or please email us directly at Service@legendsuspensions.com
Good question, Being that those are longer than stock you should be pretty good there for adding 14" shocks. Main thing to check is just that they will bolt up on the rear without any fitment issues. Exhaust needs to be right about as short as the rear lower shock mount, or you might have to space the muffler out a pinch to clear. We recommend removing the lower shock bolts and jack the bike up till the upper and lower mount holes are 14" apart center to center to ensure proper clearance. If you are good there then you should be good with that longer front suspension on those DXDX and FXDXT models. to maximize front end height, you can mount the fork tubes flush with the top of the triple trees. We hope this answers your questions, if you need any further assistance, please feel free to email service@legendsuspensions.com and one of our reps would be more than happy to help.
You guys are the experts so who am I to argue but it looks the bottom bolt of my shock is 2 to 3 above my thunder header. What am I missing here? Please help
The Thunder header is less upswept than something like a Bassani so if you clear with no issue than you should be good. It is impossible to test ever pipe on the market.
Hello- We in general do not recommend the 14" shocks when they are not used with a longer front suspension. This would cause the bike to sit fairly high in the back. This greatly reduces rake angle and can make the bike very responsive, but some might say it becomes quite twitchy or lose higher speed stability. It will physically work, but we do not recommend this unless it is for a very short time while waiting to upgrade the front to a longer front end, but not as a long-term upgrade choice. If you have any additional questions on this, please feel free to email service@legendsuspensions.com and we would be happy to help.
a longer kickstand is not required. But definitely helps if someone needs it. The bike just leans over further, which can make checking the oil a little more difficult and doesn't give you the most accurate fuel reading when not upright.
Modifications generally need to be made, most of the time on a Dyna with Thunder header the rear exhaust mount bolt will need to be removed so it does not contact. On longer pipes the muffler will block you from installing the lower shock bolt.
Hello, You would still need all of these changes. and you would just set your suspension sag with both riders on the bike to account for weight like a solo rider would. We have sag setting videos for this on our channel. Please let us know if you need help finding them and Customer Service can email one to you.
I’ve previously install revo 14” rear shocks and change my rear wheel from 17” to 18” now i feel front end is stiff. So I need ur recommendations for front cartridges for my 2017 harley wide glide FXDWG. Does this gonna solve my issue ?(( Legend AXEO Dyna Wide Glide Front End Suspension )).
The Axeo will absolutely help you out. However, with 14" shocks on there now, if you are stock suspension in the front and also added a larger rear wheel you have gained some considerable height in the back, and this is putting some additional weight transfer over the front end and that could be somewhat overloading the front end. A little bit is just fine as it lessens the rake angle and gives a more agile feel to the bike, but too much can mess with high-speed stability. If you have 14" shock and then added the larger wheel, something to consider would be emailing our customer service. Service@legendsuspensions.com and maybe have your 14" shocks converted to 13", This would bring that rear back down a bit to account for the larger rear wheel and you wouldn't lose any suspension travel at all. The conversion is not much and doesn't take too long. If you have an end to your riding season, then this would be a good time to do that if you decide. We also have a chat feature on our website if you would like some additional details. The chat goes directly to real people.
What is Legends position about using 1”lowering blocks with the 14” shocks to bring the height back to effectively 13”? Any problems maintaining the lifetime warranty?
With the 14 inch shocks, your suspension sag should be set to 13 inch. So when you sit on the bike, the suspension will be at 13 inch from eyelet to eyelet.
@jenniferbarillas Hello, We do not recommend the use of 14" shocks on the Sportster Low, especially with a stock front end height. The taller rear shocks are really recommended for use with a 2+ front end. The Low model being event shorter this would have you sitting pretty tall in the back and you would run into some Rake and Trail issues with that setup. We hope this answers your questions.
Most short exhausts should work. As long as the exhaust isn't long enough to be under the shocks, you should be fine. If you have problems with the foot pegs, that would be an exhaust manufacture question.
@@benb7102 yeah. It says to guarantee that my exhaust is short enough. I then asked if the grenades, which are fairly short, would need any clearance mod. They did not give a specific length or gave any info on said exhaust, which is understandable.
