Just dropping this comment on here many hours later because there are too many comments to keep up with. If you believe that Ruby deserved this or that any of these Neo clones are saying anything truthful, you are wrong. You are simply and utterly wrong and have missed the point of so many things. That is all.
Did Ruby deserve this? Absolutely not. This is Neo, the villain, torturing Ruby for her own sadistic pleasure. I can't believe anyone would ever say otherwise... but they are kinda right though. Only kinda. The reason why it's so effective is because Ruby's already in a bad mental state, and the copies have *a* point, a hint of truth, in their words, distorted by guilt. They're exactly what Ruby *doesn't* need to hear right now.
Yea I get that Ruby f up but you can't just blame her one she literally has all of remnant on her shoulders 2 she's only a teenager 3 after what she's seen I'd expect her to be an emotional reack and let that fog her thoughts
I know that Ozpin was a fake but BRUH, the fact the he was beating her the same way Roman did in V3 was... too cruel and and him raising his voice to scream at her.
This episode was actually very sadning seeing everyone beat ruby up and she can do anything about it, it wasn't her fault that they died man.It just really hurt seeing her getting abused by everyone 😭
@@ephrintompson2837 tbh neo has no true understanding of pyhra combat psyche. I mean she made the oz hit her like one of those cranky old men which unfortunately is kinda true since his ex wife made him cranky
For me, Penny and Oz were the most painful to watch Penny was Ruby's best friend, and Oz was the person who believed in Ruby from the start and brought her on this path Using her guilt, her anger, against her- Effective and painful
And then to take Oz away, replacing him with Oscar- Making ruby see yet another important, innocent person who trusts and adores her die by her hand- She feels as though she is responsible for Penny, Pyrrah- She thinks that her not being able to save them is just as bad as delivering the final blow herself
I don't think Oz's motives for 'believing in her' were all that...altruistic. he was from the start more interested in her silver eyes and it's basically the only reason she got pulled into beacon earlier
@@maddocstein6807exactly. Kinda just used her & used her innocent mindset of wanting to be a hero, against her. 14 Yo Ruby not knowing what she was getting into, & what being a hero REALLY meant, that real life isnt a fairy tale. Same thing with Pyrrha, another kid who died bc of his cause, trying to be a hero. Cant forget he was indoctrinating child-soldiers. Ik he’s not like evil, but he definitely did some questionable things. You gotta do what you gotta do but Ironwood’s story arc showed us that blindly doing whatever, hurting ppl along the way, & justifying it as “lives don’t matter as long as I fulfill my goal, I’m trying to save everyone”, doesnt always work out, nor is it morally right. Very big grey area ig. As grey as Oz’s hair
@@Tw0Dots gotta remember he doesn’t even have a plan He recruited children despite knowing that he has no way of killing Salem It’s not even that life isn’t a fairy tale it’s that the story is already weighed against everyone
Ikr? Last episode was crazy but holy shit was this episode wild! And come to think about it...remember they changed the intro from the rusted knight wearing a helmet to not after we found out that it was Jaune? Maybe the next episode is gonna show the ones behind Neo in the intro?
@@MrGksarathy nah volume 8 was kinda oof but not as bad as volume 3 first aired. volume 8 we knew we were all in the shitz but vol 3 was so tragic because everything was lovely and it all went 180. furthermore volume 3 had both penny and pyrrha die
I stopped watching this show after vol 7 and vol 8 wasn't raising my hopes but I might have to watch it again for this one. from all the clips I seen this volume isn't fucking around
Some are saying that ruby deserve all of this too Now i havent watched rwby in a while since vol 7 But is it really all her fault? Cos thats what some comments are saying or they dont really like a character?
@@aluvwhatiluvshuddup7900 She made a lot of mistakes and bad calls from what i'm understanding. But what people are forgetting is that *Ozpin* is the one who put Ruby, who was *two years too young to join beacon* as Leader of team RWBY. *and wouldnt let her step down.* She's a couple years older now, but she's *still* two years younger (and with *less prior-training* mind you) than everyone else. She's also been holding *everything* back in terms of how much emotional stress she's been under *from day one* and even her own damn *sister* has been ignorant to it/pushing addressing it aside for 'more important' matters. so people forget objectively that her bad calls were only able to be made by her because *Ozpin* was Fucking Around. Thus, Ruby, is Finding Out, in his place.
@@Xenmaru00 Ozpin probably saw her silver eyes as a ticket And honestly Ruby being 2 years younger doesn’t matter when we have characters like Pyrrha who was destroyed by Ozpin’s pressure and died fighting what he couldn’t finish Ozpin put so much pressure on these children I don’t even know if anyone in team RWBY or ORNJ are even past 20 yet They’re all too young for this
It's a lot harder to go the emotional route with Cinder though by comparison. She only gets angry and sometimes a bit upset. You need a lot of raw power for her by this point
@@Xenmaru00people love blaming only Ruby but like damn they were all just kids who were basically forced into all this. Not even the adults make the right decisions either
@@Gamegod02 honestly I love her a lot and the high possibility of her death really hurts me. Although I see that Jaune was... A bit sympathetic towards her? Maybe he will save her. But still I don't think she will return to Remnant at this point.
This is extremely painful to watch. Ruby looking at the faces of everyone who died “because” of her. Ruby, you can’t blame yourself all the time. Please, don’t let yourself get pulled into this madness!! 💔😭😭
Neo is by far the most vindictive villain in this series! Salem might be an immortal ex who has a fetish for destruction, Cinder might be a power-hungry witch, and Tyrion may just be a crazy mofo, but Neo's rage in this episode is by far the most terrifying of all time!
@@CharlemagneGuy127 When has Ruby broken the sound barrier in the show? Also, Ruby arrived at the roof of the tower not even knowing that Pyrrha was about to die the second she did.
No... It hasn't been confirmed, for crying out loud stop passing your theories off as fact! Ruby meant the world to Penny cause she was her first friend.
@@LokiToxtrocity Yikes bro chill out 💀 you can say “I love you” to anyone, platonic or romantic, if they’re important to you lmao I’m not trying to “pass on fact”
Neo is hands down the best antagonist of this series. This shit is beyond fucked up. This is straight up psychological torture. Ruby is never going to be the same after this.
@@plasmoasis Yeah thats why she has her sister to take the fall so she gets to tap that kitty lol oh how theyve tried fitting her obsession in the story instead of improving her Don't get me wrong their writing is getting better but the Yang thing felt really out of place Yang is optimisitc yes but she also had her traumas about her arm but this season she just feels off
Personally I'd rank Torchwick as my favorite antagonist in the series, Watts takes second place (I mean come on, that mustache is too powerful) and Neo is third.
Wouldn't the next part where she is convinced to drink the tea go hand in hand? Here she is physically broken down. Semblance flickers when she falls with the chandelier. The nail of "better off not here", is the emotional/mental last straw?
This episode made me realize that Little basically represented Ruby’s last hopes and innocence, so with Littles death Ruby reset herself. Along with this it proved Fake Ozpin’s point that she can’t save anyone
Yeah, like if you want my opinion, being a hero comes with great risks and responsibility as not everything can always go your way like no matter how it goes and it's true in a lot of things, people are going to get hurt or even killed and you can't do anything about it, that just how it goes and for Ruby here, it all came crashing down on her and she couldn't do anything about it until it was too late.
Poor Ruby, she really needs all the emotional support she can get from her friends and sister right now. Btw how did Neo even know about Clover, Lionheart, and Ironwood?
Well, working with Salem, she would know about Clover. Tyrian killed him at the end of volume 7 and Lionheart "going missing" would be a big thing on the news because he's a headmaster. Ironwood is the real mystery here cause Neo fell before he died.
Probably in some moment in volume 8, when she invade the base (In case of Clover and Ironwood). Lionheart i'm not sure, but i would guess in minor events in vol 5.
"How many more lives do you have to ruin before you realize you're not cut out to save anyone!" I know it's an illusion, but having Ozpin say _that_ to Ruby really feels like a pot calling the kettle black kind of situation...
The only reason I think Ruby drank the reset tea is so she doesn’t have to deal with all the negative thoughts that have weighed her down for ages. But that’s really just a stretch isn’t it?
I think she drank it because she just can't handle the weight of saving the world from Salem and that she may potentially be the reason why everyone she cares about is just dying
Nord saga Kratos ofc, greek saga Kratos probably will use her to jam a mechanism, get Green orbs, tool to kill a boss or a "O" minigame or just ignore her. He was a douchebag back then
@@PlahaKumar Except asolutely none of the people there would say those things, though. Neo speaking through dead people is absolutely not telling Ruby what she needs?
@@PlahaKumar blaming all the failures solely on Ruby is wrong especially since Neo is literally one of the main antagonists who foiled there plans to begin with. She has NO GROUNDS whatever to criticize Ruby she is just trying to break Ruby spirit. Everyone was responsible for the fall of Atlas, Ironwood second plan on abandoning mantle would not work since both cities need each other! Mantle needed Atlas for advance tech and soldiers and Atlas for the mines and workers. Taking Atlas away Plus abandoning the people you sworn to protect on a moral scale is the ultimate betrayal. Also Ironwood created a double edge sword with his decisions because he cut ties from outside Kingdoms in fear of war understandably so since the events that happened in volume 3. But this also made the other kingdoms more powerless with their limited supply of dust and equipment. Team RWBY JNR and everyone else dumped the leading roll especially Blake on Ruby in volume 7 on episode 1 Saying ( we’ll follow your lead Ruby!) Which it actually gave her more pressure to play the role as a leader instead of deciding on what to do as a TEAM which later ends up her making one of the hugest mistakes ever. Ruby true fault was lying to Ironwood and should have told him about Salem from the get go because that added more pressure/stress he was ready to deal with. Also Ironwood let her stay into Atlas gave them equipment even gave Yang HER a FREAKEN ARM before even going to Atlas. They had more reason to trust than fear him at least in the beginning. He was still sane and could have been reason with. Penny and Phyrra decided to sacrifice themselves to stop Cinder that was their choice and Penny did NOT stick to the plan understandably so since they were being attacked. But under no circumstances she was suppose to help she was suppose to take the relic with her to Vacuo. Blake and Yang faults besides putting pressure on Rwby they decided that their OWN opinions mattered more than everyone else’s and exposed Itonwood most guarded secrets to Robin before Ironwood was sure it was safe to tell her. The idiots didn’t think that hmm idk the people connected to Robin could be Salem’s SPIES!?!? YOU JUST MET HER!!!! Also Jaunes team was the one who LOST THE FREAKEN LAMP TO NEO, which later Cinder used to know how to foil their plans and NOT JUST RUBY’s IT EVEN SHOWED IN THE LAMP that they all went over the plan. So when Jaune and Neo blamed Ruby for those events including recent events that not completely true. On a side note Jaune knew Ruby was being hunted and still brought Team RWBY to the villiage where another catastrophe happen. The village would still be in danger anyway do to their suicide methods but at least if Team Rwby camped somewhere else the Jabberwocky would not been their which would be less threatening since the people pleasers can ascend and not worry about the beast eating them which prevents acendtion.
We literally just saw Oscar die. There was a lot of blood and everything. We better get some wholesome Rosegarden moments in Volume 10 to make up for this, because I will not recover otherwise.
You could hear the collective screaming of Oscar fans when he showed up (also that shit caught me way off gaurd after how select they are with gore to see huge ass pool of blood just DAMN)
Omg when I watched this scene, I was speechless. And I feel bad for Ruby and now I’m scared from here on end. I wonder what will happen next episode. 😭😭😭😭
Ruby deserved the ass-whooping for making bad situations worse: heavily damaging the coastal defense mecha which invited a kaiju sized grim to emerge from the ocean and wreck the seaside community along with her team fucking over the citizens of Atlas/Beacon with their dumbass selection of random spot in Vacuo Desert where the portal exited in the middle of a raging sandstorm with monsters devouring many defenseless people
I'm literally someone who's never ever shed a tear watching a movie/TV show like seriously I don't think I've ever teared up on scenes that would be labelled "the saddest scene". But this, it hurt. I literally had snot running down my face and had to pause to take a breath and clean my face (no exaggeration). It's overwhelming how they keep you connected with the characters and the show 10/10 writing this episode. Also the part that I actually audibly gasped on was when Little was...squished. it's so horrible I can't even watch again...
ikr? Like say you ever wanted to rewatch rwby it's going to be awful knowing this episode in this volume would be on the horizon. I don't think I could watch this episode again even if time had passed. Far too much shock value and far too dark for me.
Which one is that again? Is that Ruby Rose and Oscar Pine? I can't keep up with all these names. There was like 17 different ones for Blake and Yang before they decided on Bumblebee.
The look of being completely broken on her face when seeing the illusion of Oscar dying right in front of her after angrily slashing her scythe at the illusion of Ozpin........ Big oof!!😵💔
Before this episode aired, I know that it has to be Neo and Ruby facing off. It's way overdue for Neo to show herself this season, and Ruby is at her lowest point after going off at her friends in the previous episode. But damn, this episode was far darker than expected. So much to unpack in this episode, with not just Ruby, but Neo and the Cat too. Ruby is going to get a deus ex machina moment, being remade by the tree. Hinted throughout the season, I think she will take on the persona of her mother Summer Rose, or at least include some part of her including the weapon. Ruby has literally fallen rock bottom. She can only rise from this moment onwards. Btw, I have suspected it for a while, but this episode pretty much confirms that the Curious Cat is the genie of the relic of choice; separated from the physical crown. This is why it feels out of place in Ever After, wants to return to Remnant, and why it seeks a host.
@@agustinesquivel9260 may I direct you to the RU-vid channel You All Write who does breakdowns and theories about RWBY. He has made a detailed video about this exact theory and shares his thoughts on it.
@@jecrex8349 I saw that video it’s extremely convincing At first I’ve always believed that the crown relic was transfigured and put into Glynda’s cape but then you all write did the cat is the crown relic theory video which changed my mind
Its kinda weird that only ruby is going through this but the rest of the team seems mentally fine even though they all share responsibility for the shit they done
Ruby had been getting her ass kicked the last couple volumes, emotionally speaking. As the team leader she is taking on a lot of the burdens of guilt, shame, etc. Additionally she had to learn about Penny dying ( again ) after she put her whole self into trying to save her. Add on to that the revelation of Salem repurposing silver eyed warriors into creatures like the Hound (and the obvious implications for her mother’s fate). I could go on, but it’s a LONG list.
Roman's VA was amazing and will be missed. Dude mixed classy, thug, sarcastic, scared, and bossy all into one performance so well he became a fam favorite villain, and had like the LEAST amount of lines of literally any villain. Even Hans, who's known for not talking.
This particular performance is not the original VA for Torchwick in Vol 1-3. This was a different guy. The original VA Gray Haddock left Roosterteeth in 2019.
The best part is that all the things said is completely valid. It’s psychological torture, but has rwby really done anything positive in the grand scheme. Have they really put thought into how to actually save everybody? Or are they just speeding through everything looking for a quick solution, based on whim and fairytale? This is great
It used to seem like a fairy tail. But then it seems we were just pretending That we'd fix our world and head to a happy ending. But it turns out life isn't like a bed time story With the reveal of a hero's glory. And it seems we weren't prepared For a game that wasn't fair Do we just go home? Can we follow through? When all hope is lost there is one thing to do. Let's just live. Day by day and not be conqured by our sorrow. The past can't hold us down. We must break free. Inside were torn apart But time we mend our hearts. Move Onward Not There Yet
I can’t help but think that this volume is the cast and crew understanding how a lot of the fan base were upset that the heroes were acting more like villains in previous volumes
@@maxdejong5259 I mean I feel like it's unfair to be quite so snarky towards them. They are basically still kids and have an immense amount of responsibility on them. That's not to say they shouldn't learn and grow from mistakes and that they can't be pointed out, but you gotta cut them a little slack. Part why I love RWBY so much is that the characters feels super real and that's largely because they aren't perfect.
This episode was _brutal._ Like the most bittersweet pill ever. Cameos from our favorite characters? Check. Complete mental and physical agony? Also check.
Neo was right, when Ruby set out to be a huntress she had the fantasy version of what it means to be one in her mind, ignoring the reality of life's cruelty till it was too late, kind of a call back to when Weiss kept telling Ruby she is acting like a child in season one
I mean making characters upset/angry isn't really development is it?. we've already seen Ruby angry with her depressed uncle "we didn't need an adult to come save us or tell us what to do" after getting poisoned to save her or sad doubting herself with Jaune/Yang quickly shutting it down. if she was under pressure she had no problem till it went wrong or asked for others to take charge once in awhile. also, Penny died once and all she muster was a surprise/confuse face when she came back? I don't buy the bond, this is them taking the complaint say it through her mouth and make her a victim so even hater will sympathy with her granted I kinda do when her sister care more for her gf but still not development to me.
I just realized, neo planned this so incredibly well. Everyone who attacks ruby, she couldn’t fight back against them, she saw her dead friends who She “failed.” But with oz, he was the one she had the most of a grudge against because of the Salem revelation. Neo knew, she knew out of all of them she was most likely to attack him, and she used that to her advantage. That’s so incredibly f**ked up
I could feel that left hook from Ironwood at 1:02 from here. The way it lifts her up is just brutal. And keep in mind, she has her aura down and he came with his metal arm. I'm surprised she didn't spit any blood from that one.
Man, Dr. Maruki's idea of therapy took a dark turn after P5R. /because Billy Kametz voiced Roman for the majority of this episode //probably one of his last roles before his passing
That "cut out to save anyone" line runs deep. This is coming from the one that saw that in her, especially in her eyes. It's the reason why she's where she is at this point so that line making her fight back works
"You don't fear death. You welcome it. Your punishment must be more severe." "Torture?" "Yes. But not of your body. But of your soul." -Bane and Bruce (The Dark Knight Rises)
If she's not cut out to save anyone, I'd lay blame on the Beacon education system for failing to adequately prepare its students. Not that Ruby ever demonstrated she was anything other than a lazy student. Her early enrolment in Beacon was clearly another one of Ozpin's mistakes.
which reminds me, where are the rest of huntsmen and huntresses? this is supposed to be a world filled with them, right? why did ozpin choose a bunch of 1st/2nd year students? why did he bet on the girl that was a bad student, with no other special trait aside her silver eyes? which he never even explained anyway? i get that ozpin isn't gandalf but man, the writing sometimes sucks to the point ozpin only lost because he's among the dumbest people on the planet
Volume 9 isn’t just pulling my heartstrings it’s pulling them out of my chest and burning them to ashes 😢 bravo rooster teeth very few shows can physically make me cry but this scene was just too much
I feel bad for Ruby, but the illusions of Ironwood and Ozpin made good points. Ironwood had to make the toughest decision to abandon Mantle to save Atlas from Salem since that’s his home, which is why I agree with him not RWBY. Ruby needs to understand from Ozpin that SHE CAN’T SAVE EVERYBODY as a leader. She still doesn’t understand the roles of being a leader. Being a leader is about being selfless to others, influence them, and doing the best you can to save others NOT EVERYONE. Edit: I just hope that Ruby climbs back up, learns, and becomes stronger than ever. She can’t die just yet 😢
Ruby's still the youngest member of Beacon *period.* She was two years younger than the youngest applicant *because of Ozpin pulling his fuckshit and wanting someone with Silver Eyes at hand.* Ruby was only *ever* in the position to *fail* at being a leader, *because Ozpin fucked around* to begin with. She *literally* had only spunk, drive, hope, and skill. Ozpin expected *everyone else around her* to pick up her slack and drill into her the basics of the lessons she would have learned *in two more years of pre-Beacon schooling.* Ruby was working with the best she had, at a time *far sooner* than she should have been. *Ozpin* is at fault, 100%, for *putting a fifteen-year-old NORMAL girl, in charge of ANYTHING.* Ozpin fucked around. Now Ruby is the one Finding Out.
@@Xenmaru00 hah. If only he did not screw up his married life in the first place, all of this would never have happened. And now this will add to his mistakes because Ruby at a young age was driven insane from things that she should not be dealing with in her age. Just because she has silver eyes does not mean she is somekind of a savior that everyone should depend on because at her core she is just human.
Ozpin lied to everyone and sent them on what’s basically a suicide mission against a goddess of death Ironwood cared about the greater picture but in the end I don’t think Salem would’ve been stopped, while dust doesn’t work in space Salem and Cinder can fly And when you know about how most of the people on mantle are a lot less wealthy than Atlas him being so okay with not making their safety a priority even in early volume 7 is not okay That’s why Nora blew up on him and it’s a scene that’s incredibly important to the arc that no one talks about He can be stressed in his castle but there are people sick and dying without resources down there and they’ve always been an afterthought
>Its not my fault "It takes a strong man to deny whats right infront of him, and if the truth is undeniable, you create your own." >I'm trying to save everyone "You're no savior, your talents lie elsewhere." "None of this would've happened if you just stopped. But on you marched, and for what?" have to bring back some interesting quotes, because these vibes go crazy
As much as they put the warning at the beginning of the episode, I wasn't expecting for this episode to be this distressing and scarring. I felt so sorry and scared for Ruby to be braving through this kind of trauma. Edit: I just love and want Ruby to understand that their deaths are not her choices and her responsibility. But to also acknowledge that the world she lived isn't perfect as the fairytale.
this episode was so good, i was pleasantly surprised for this show to get REALLY dark, it just kept getting worse and worse i typically am fine with waiting a week but this time i am itching to see the next episode, im so worried about everything Dx
Damn, this is almost Silent Hill level of pyschological horror, minus the gore and grotesque monsters. It really breaks my heart seeing Ruby tortured like this.
This is like Steven Universe when he literally went through PTSD Trauma. He felt like everyone's problems was always weighing on him 24/7. Now Ruby Rose is feeling this way with all the pain fighting back at her😢
He's had a long time to go mad and work his way back around to sane again. Periodic mergers with other people who aren't insane presumably helped somewhat.
I've been holding off watching anything from Volume 9 so far, but this video's title made me decide to go for it anyway out of sheer curiosity. Without any context, I am left stunned. This is incredible.
lol the first five episodes are a bunch of nothing. you might as well start when jaune appears since that's when the plot actually starts moving forward
