Not really, when I saw the trailer it doesn't sound like Les Intouchables. It is very different, and You're Not You is based on a book while Les Intouchables was based on a documentary film.

Might be a weird case of art imitating life. Les Untouchables was released in 2011 in France and 2012 in the rest of the world. It was inspired by the documentary A La Vie, A La Mort from 2003, and has been picked up for distribution by the Weinstein Company, and also to be remade in English. The book 'You're Not You' was written by Michelle Wildgen and published in 2006, but she states in a 2006 interview that it began as a short story in 2001. In her book, the first woman has ALS and her carer is a lazy college student, unlike the French story which has a paraplegic and a criminal. Michelle also states that she had known a caregiver and an ALS patient, which was the inspiration for that book. So, if she wrote the short story in 2001, it could not have been inspired by the French documentary unless there were significant plot changes along the way. How closely the movie follows the book is another matter of inquiry. Shooting for the movie concluded in December 2012, one year after Untouchables was released. Who knows if the execs saw that movie and shaped it? The trailer for You're Not You is very, very similar to the one for Les Untouchables, too.

raksh9 Thank you for writing that all out! I was thinking the same thing. However, trailers can be deceiving but I was also wondering how closely this film will follow the novel. There already seem to be many scenes that have been inserted or perhaps "influenced" by Les Untouchables that I did not recognize from the book. Regardless I am sure the cast will strive to make the characters come to life to the best of their ability, although if it holds true I am sure I will not like the husband/Josh Duhamel's character.
