I took notes for y'all and myself: -U can fit 2 Kunai between each heal if someone could pop up -Use rush towards where u want to push and where they'd back up to 4 value -Better for Kiri to push cart and TP out when there's high ground cause you can wall climb -TP out when in danger before wasting suzu -Be wary of TP use so you don't get dived by heroes once you escape. Wait for dive heroes to have cooldowns off before escaping. -Better to TP out when other support is gonna die regardless and cut your losses -Don't duel until you need to use suzu, TP out before you're too low. -Suzu Early/Pre-Suzu for when you know someone is about to take a lot of damage before they get low HP(winston leap combo) -Be aware of ults (ult track) like pulse bomb and SAVE suzu for it -Talk to team and stay cart if someone else can get a kill -Take shots at their backline that your flankers can clean up on -If you need a boost of heals to keep a teammate alive Kitsune Rush to keep them alive -Keep ur teammates alive and fight off flankers with occasional aggression and you'll rank up!! Thanks for this guide Eskay hope to rise out of diamond with Kiri 🥷
I remember people saying this was the ideal way to play kiriko before the kitsune rush nerfs because getting ult as fast as possible was the most important thing
@@mimo__.- Back in season 2 they increased ult cost by 10%. reduced the movement speed boost from 50% to 30%, and reduced the cooldown speed increase from 3 to 2 times faster. Was a while ago (December 2022?) so you may have not noticed it recently
Just a warning to any new person watching this. Kiriko was recently nerfed and the headshot punch combo no longer one shots Tracer. So this is your warning. (In case you are wondering what they changed) They changed body shot from 40 to 45 damage but reduced the head shot multiplier from 3x to 2.5x meaning she used to do 120 damage per headshot but know only does 112.5
Great guide. And you get right to the point without gate keeping. In the first minute you confirmed something I always assumed but what held me back. The fact that I’m healbotting until there’s a good window to assassinste. I’d often get so overwhelmed that I constantly need to get kills in between heals that it fatigues me. But there’s a time in place. No need to worry about just spamming heal if it makes you focus better on who to heal quickly
4:09 It is not a complete Suzu waste. The Kiriko was distracting you and the Zen. as a support it is important to use your abilities to take the pressure off a teamate. Right now as the kiriko is shooting you, you are not healing, which is easier on the enemy team. The kiriko Suzu's out to maximize her potential to distract. also the Kiriko suzus to protect herself from the time looking at a teamate and teleporting. This advice is coming from a Top 1 player. Not me, but from a top 1 player.
I would like to personally thank you for your amazing content, not only are you fun to watch but I just followed your advice and experienced a 10 game win streak as just Kiriko!!
I play a lot more casually than when I played a bunch during OW 1 so this helps a lot bcus now I obviously don't perform as well and it's the kind of content that's really helpfull as a reminder or to learn stuff I never knew, thanks Eskay :D
I love watching your videos so much cause I learn so much from them so thank you so much for teaching us or giving us advice on positioning and how to play the characters ^^
it’s so refreshing to see someone try and actually teach ppl to be good at a game but also remember to have fun when other ow youtubers just say “do damage, hit your shots”
It feels like kiri tp used to be so much more reliable at launch, maybe the patches that prevented her from falling off the map made it so clunky and unreliable? But it is a pain sometimes.
Thank you for this video. Awkward's 4 step plan video helped a lot, but you made a lot of points about fundamentals that he didn't touch on. I'm hard stuck silver and I've been really working on my kiri in order to try to climb higher. Thanks for making this kind of educational content!
i appreciate this video so much, i love playing kiri but i struggle sooo much with her kunai. people constantly saying "if you dont do damage as support/kiri then youre throwing!!" had me nervous lol. i felt like i was a bad kiri just because i struggled to get kills with her. but this showed me that i shouldnt be so nervous about that!! thank you so much for the guide, i learned a lot
Only way to get better at hitting shots is to throw shots! Youll naturally get a better sense as you play, dw. As long as you dont tunnel vision on damaging only (happens a TON at low rank) and completely ignore ur team like ur second support, more often than not you are creating pressure off enemy vantage points and making them peek less/switch positions to somewhere worse/change targets to you for awhile.
You know what, this is the realest kiriko guide for me. I was so stressed trying to copy so much gameplay like flank like genji and get more kills to climb, but then you just have to have a good rotation of cooldowns to keep your team alive. I really play almost the same as you are and hearing your advices makes me really happy. I'll surely play more kiriko. Currently my roles are tank and dps are plat, my support is gold. I fell off of support because I had so much loss when I started playing competitive. I'm slowly getting better nowadays.
Yeah a lot of guides are egotistical in my opinion and often say that "you can't make mistakes" or "you always have to do damage" so I understand stressing trying to copy gameplay. I stopped worrying about that and just try to play smart. If I'm alive, my team has a chance of winning. I don't play COMPLETELY safe, but I save my teleport for if I get dived and I take on 1 v 1s only if I'm near my team so I have an escape route.
Just subscribed. As someone who's trying to make Kiriko their second main, this video was extremely helpful in terms of figuring out what mistakes I'm making with her. Keep them coming♥
Just a note, the most recent patch took away Kiri's one shot combo on Tracer. Headshot + Melee just BARELY doesn't kill now. Very sad day for Kiri mains everywhere.
As a few comments have pointed out, after the update headshot melee is no longer the combo sadly. However, from my understanding it is now just heashot + bodyshot for the follow up against tracer! Rdgardless, very good video and awesome info
Thanks for the Kiri guide Eskay, I learned a ton! However, one question that I had while watching this (and a question that I thought of as I began learning Kiri a few months ago) is how you should use your cooldowns on teammates with abilities that allow them to relocate and/or disengage from a fight much faster than you? I can't count the number of times I've teleported to a friendly tracer or genji, ready to heal them and save their lives with suzu or my ofuda, only for them to recall or dash out of the fight, leaving me in the frontline rather than the backline where I can heal the rest of my team. On the other hand, when I'm in the backline and try to yeet my suzu at them, they use their own cooldowns to escape, causing my 14-second cooldown to miss (essentially wasting it). Is there anything that one should specifically keep in mind while targeting mobile allies with your cooldowns?
That's a good question. I'm metal ranks so struggling with the same but it's basically going to be a gamble unless you're on comms talking to that teammate. Similar to Moira fade, Reaper's wraith, etc., on the safe side at lower levels TP is safest as an escape mechanism for you, and will always be riskier to engage combat with (especially if you can't see what's going on). So try to use comms and use your gamesense about where the enemy is, because if you don't have knowledge of whether you're trying to save a low Hanzo from a 1v1 against Moira vs. showing up to Winston and Genji diving the same low Hanzo, you will end up in situations where you die. Remember you're still squishy and if you just used your best escape cooldown to go into combat you are taking a risk. Also try to remember generally that most players teammates WILL be using an escape cooldown if they have it vs. wait around for you to show up with heals (especially if you're not on comms!).
never tp to a dps in the frontline to heal them. tp is more for repositioning to a better angle or to escape. using it to escape is its primary function. using tp to go heal a dps is a death sentence just like if moira used fade to get to the front line. stay in a safe position where you can heal most of your team, and just let the tracer or genji do their thing. its way better to just let them die than to go die yourself.
DPS dying in the frontline is not your problem, UNLESS they have the win condition for that fight or you will 100% need them for the next, think a sombra/genji who is 5% away from ult and 20hp, yeah tp and suzu them. If they are there without ult or have used all their cooldowns and fed, let them, not your problem, you are more valuable alive. Big think for movement characters is you have to track their movement, you should know if your genji has dash or your tracer has recall. If they have none then maybe help them (see above reasons) if they have their cooldowns, let them get out of their own mess. GM1 Supp player here. All I said previously only applies to suzu and tp usage, always throw heals at frontline people. Suzu and TP are for keeping your tank/backline/you alive most of the time, but sometimes you use it to guarantee plays.
@@PandaWilliams-ol5vt What about a low Ram that's blocking and is at 75 hp , or a Winton or Doomfist that dove into the enemy team and instantly hits critical. I know that dps are expendable to a certain degree, they don't really do anything that tanks and supports don't. But keeping tanks and supports alive is super important, right? Didn't Eskay say in her Ana guide that while playing support, you're mostly trying to make up for your teammates' poor decisions?
ESKAY, your support videos are absolutrly amazing. I'm a washed up 4.4K peak tank main who hasn't played in two years. Thanks for giving me the tools to not hate playing support
Watching this made me feel so good about how I play Kiriko. Lol Literally the same as you're describing in this video. But yeah, nothing brings me more joy than deleting flankers. But that doesn't matter for I'm a masochist and play support solo queues and thus will probably never get out of low ranks in comp.
I love your vids, and I have a question. I am a hardcore support main, I barely ever touched other roles, since they aren't as fun (altough I can play the ones well without the need of mechanical skill). However I have been struggling to get a higher rank on solo queue. I was gold 1 / plat 5 last season, but I got like 7 dc teammates in a row, and fell back to silver. And since I'm in that rank, I can't seem to be able to rank up. Even if I play like a god, nothing seems to help the team I get half the time. Should I just give up ranking solo, or play dps moira or lucio?
I'm of the opinion that ELO hell is real because you will get very inconsistent teammates and leavers in silver. Try to queue up with friends because it will eliminate unknown variables like that random shitty bronze tank. You can certainly carry as Kiriko (and others like Bap and Ana) but if you're probably a gold player you're likely not good enough to carry a bad team in a silver match all the time. But yeah... keep improving and eventually you'll make it out. I am in the same situation (plat tank and DPS but fell to silver in support which I play 70% of the time) and I'm finally back up to gold in support, and still climbing.
as someone who only within the past year started playing overwatch and fell in love with kiriko, i have about 100 hours in her and this is exceptional advice and thank you:)
I’ve come to the conclusion that all other RU-vid guides are a lie. I spent 30 hours on the hero thinking she was terrible and that if I could hit these insane shots I’d carry. I took all the tips from people who don’t play the hero and make guides for views. Tbh most the off angles get your teams hp to kill able levels and you usually get no picks even if you distract, as well as burn CDs. I started heal botting, hitting Suzu at the right time, hitting Q at the right time, and spamming shots head level when available. I went 16-2 in two days and hit an all time peak of masters 4. Eskay has the ONLY correct guide for current patches. THANK YOU!
Haveyou got any tipps how i can get kiriko, cause i have the 35 wins actually and it shows metoo if i click on it,but if i dont click on it it shows 34 wins from 35,and sadly i already got all other heros…
