This is a useful ana guide (hopefully) from yours truly a top500 ana main who DOES NOT play lucio ever and I am not a lucio one trick I PLAY ANA OKAY please enjoy and comment if you learned something / eskay / eskayow
I like the reinforcement of the idea that being a great player doesn’t mean you don’t make mistakes and that the emphasis is more on learning from those mistakes
Something support players also need to accept: amplifying your teammates stupidity will likely result in a win (a rein feeding with a support pocket can probably kill like 3 of them if the rein is built like a brick shithouse)
i think the point is more; you cant stop them from being stupid, so either you let them be stupid and die and you are down one teammate, or you all go full in with their stupidity and have a chance of it working. Or to be said differently: If one person on a team does a dumb thing, you have one useless teammate. If all people on the team do the same stupid thing, you have a strat.
Lol Sometimes in non-metal rank lobbies, I'll ult with Kiriko and encourage my tank to do stupid things with my support, because it ends up getting us the team kill most of the time and my teammates usually switch positions to follow up once they hear kitsune.
the amount of games ive won by shoving my gun up a feeding reins ass is insane. some of these dudes have no fear, and if youre willing to try go along with their crazy shit, you might end up winning like i know thats not how we should be playing, but i have to adapt to my teammates mistakes haha
I low-key really like your positivity and chill vibe during comp games. Lot of people just instantly lose their shit over one lost fight without thinking of any positive outcomes or future plans to win. Keeping calm during though games is definitely one of the most important things on high elo, in my opinion. Great video!
I adore these style of videos, hearing thought processes helps so much for learning. Personally I'd like to see some kiriko or rein My kiri is okay but I want to get better, and for tanks I only play dva well so I wanna learn more tanks so I don't throw when someone picks zarya and my team won't stop shooting bubble lmao
good luck on tank and support! tbh im not really good at tank roles in general, sometimes i get confused who to target or i just idk, get lost? im much better on a support tho, esp mercy, kiri or ana (i make mistakes tho). but im especially horrible at ball, doom, winston, rein, and im decent at orisa, kinda good at junker queen? maybe? and decent on zarya as well. but in general im not that good of a tank, but my worst role so far is dps lol
A cool trick on Ana is she gets a small animation cancel if you throw your nade during your reload animation, saves only 0.3/0.4 seconds and it's hard to pull off consistently (for me at least, but I'm plat) but it can come up in saving people
I'm super non pro, but wouldn't you want to focus on throwing your nade at a good opportunity instead of using it for animation cancel? That way the chance of getting less value is higher no? Just saw an awkward coaching where he emphasized not rushing nades. But again I don't have a good understanding of stuff and maybe you can do both?
@@RobertPazurek I’m no pro either, but in many situations when the animation cancel would be advantageous, it’s fair to assume nade opportunities would be aplenty. You wouldn’t need the animation cancel in, say, a calm scenario.
I honestly love this video way more than other educational videos. I feel like some people post onky their best plays, and you can't help but feel bad. Here, you can see she is good, but there is still no emphasis on being absolutely perfect. Love it.
@cigfluencer Ah yes, spending less than a minute every day to type a compliment means that they need a job... Good thing you said that, or else they would've gone through life lost and probably would have been homeless in a few weeks. You are a lifesaver 😐
Another HUGE thing for Ana is learning the arch of the nade when you toss it vertically. It can make 0:05 more efficient if you can toss it up and let the cooldown reset while it's traveling to the spawn doors, and as you showed at 1:00 it can and should be used while coming back from spawn 99% of the time, since it'll be refreshed by the time you're actually with your team (obviously if you're worried about being spawn camped by a Tracer or Sombra then hold onto it.) Plus, especially if you're defending an area, you might be able to land a nade as the enemies are coming back from spawn by hitting them on their side of a chokepoint right as they're trying to push through, could couple well with your teammate's spam and land an early kill, or just stall. Worth practicing for a while, learn the angle, I use it all the time :)
5:04 As a coach they way I like to explain Ana positioning is saying that you want to be "overlooking" the fight, not be IN it, the more you can see the more aware you are of what's happening. I think your explanation is very good but could be simpler. Just trying to provide some feedback, plz dont take it the wrong way lol. I love recommending your guides to the metal rank players that I coach, especially the Lucio wallriding guide.
Finally an ACTUALLY educational overwatch video. I'm so tired of trying to learn something from an "educational" video that's just people dogging on bronzes. Thanks a load essay! 🤩
I understand the frustration of having a complicated word that is imported from another languages, that must've sucked. However, all words are "made up", just because it's foreign doesn't mean it's more made up than any other.
Love these vids, I've been learning ana after learning kiri so this was great. Plus, I always enjoy your videos specifically because they're fun, useful, and your voice is so soothing
This was such a great video! I loved the style, and also the way you showed that even if the enemy tank is just better, you can always get a win. I mean... You were always going to win. Never had any doubt.
11:42 things to look out for, someone who is good at poking is pushing a rein shield, So he either has to take the damage or drop shield to scare the lucio away Eskay sees this and nades it, which immediately negates a hit lucio will take, And anti’s the rein
Love love this video and the stream of conciousness style it mskes everything easier to intuitively think about! Id love to see videos like this going over positioning on different types of maps, and more ana, kiri, sojourn:)
Great video! I really loved this style of video, super engaging! I watched the whole way through and didn't get side-tracked like I do watching other Overwatch videos.
i’m so here for more educational content, i’ve only been playing the game for a few months and rn i’m only confident in being a few support characters (thanks to content creators like you!)
This was a good video to watch to see how someone else plays the hero...I love the voiceovers of your thought process, too. As someone stuck in bronze for life, this was very helpful
Your temperament is exquisite. I’ve only encountered you on a frogger video once or twice I believe, but this was such an easy, captivating watch. Thank you.
I love playing as Ana but I’m pretty much peaked at Diamond 1. Now I’m at Diamond 3 bc I’ve been on a mean losing streak. These types of videos would definitely help me improve. Thanks for the great content.
so neat and to the point. and it’s also good to see people promoting damage and offensive plays on supports. as a fan of Awkwards coaching, i approve of this:)
I'm trying to be a better support (its my fav role and i main a loy of healing heros since ow1) and ana is still one of my trickiest hero to get better. So I really appreciate this video, Eskay ❤ I love how patient, lovely and how many important tips you said with actual gameplay. So didactic ❤ Love how soothing is your voice at the same time, it's like a warm hug while my brain says "yeah you suck, but look at how beautiful was that ana flick" hahaha thank you so much for this ❤
I'd love a Kiriko guide. I haven't played OW for the last 3 years and would love it if I could learn her from you. I play all 3 roles as well so I trust your judgement more than single-role players. They tend to be pretty biased.
sleep dart training also helps a lot if you miss sleeps more than you hit them, and aggressive nades are underrated even if it gets a teammate killed, it can secure multiple kills
I recently started playing OW and was using moira as a crutch. I started using Ana and since then have gotten better overall on a LOT of characters. I'm a pretty good Ana now and this is a super helpful guide for refinement
it would be really cool if you made a video like this for lifeweaver :) or any support really. your lucio and kiriko videos really helped me out a lot and now i wanna try out ana too :3 your vids really helped breakdown these characters and their abilities for someone like me who just recently started playing ow a couple months ago so thank you :))
"Making up for your teammates stupid plays". As a support player i feel this in my SOUL. Tanks that dive with no plan, DPS that complain about no heals when all they do is jump around like maniacs and consistently leave your line of sight, or my personal favorite; getting left to fend for yourself in the backline. 🙄
I think what goes unsaid though, is that support mains then get this superiority complex where all they see is their teammate's making mistakes and they don't look at their own game play enough. sitting in the back heal-botting with their brain off, is just as much of a mistake as the int'ing rein.
@@-aku2805 i shouldnt imply (and dont mean) all support players, but ive definitely seen supports play bad and then just complain that their team sucks. supports have always needed to play proactively and learn to protect themselves and position well, especially in OW2. but my point is that everyone in the game is making mistakes, and simply because supports are physically positioned in the back so that they generally see their team during most of the match, it can have the effect that they can end up judging what other players are doing more. but to your point. i see it plenty. at least the same as other roles. possibly slightly more. the classic example to me is the mercy heal-beaming the tank 24/7 and using sassy voicelines when anyone on their team dies.
@@senor135 i can see what you mean. But it's not a superiority complex when im literally telling my dps to stay put because our tank got wrecked around that corner, but the little turd dives anyways thinking that 1v3 is a good idea. Then i get put in this predicament of should i try and keep them alive until the rest of the team shows up or let them die and wait 10-12 seconds till they're back? If i choose option 1: 9/10 i have to give up my position to better angle myself for my teammate thus making my self vulnerable and having us both die. Or option 2: i let them die, hold my position until the rest of the team arrives and hopefully we can win this 4v5 battle.or even option 3: where i dont move, my teammate gets killed, but my position gets compromised anyways and now we're both dead losing us the battle. Either way there's a sacrifice i have to make that greatly effects the tide of the game. Not saying everyone else's plays and decisions dont matter its just they dont think about the amount of heals necessary to pull it off. 🤷🏾♂️
@@senor135also that making mistakes on support isn’t as visible as it is on the other roles. With Ana, you can miss nade and sleep a bunch and no one will really notice during the game. With Lucio you can amp up heals and speed at the incorrect times and no one will notice during the moment. Even when a support dies, most of us think “ah damn we didn’t peel for them” but it could’ve been that they died because of bad positioning, missing their abilities, etc.
A thing i learned with ana is that you can force cooldown abilities by punching to fake a sleep dart!! Because ana’s melee looks somewhat similar to sleep dart, you can punch from further ranges to force heroes to waste movement abilities on it!!
I think my main issues with Ana is my aiming especially because its hard to get used to dealing dmg when the heals hitbox is wayyyy bigger than the dmg hitbox, so you’re more used to the heals hitting so it makes it harder for me to hit some dmg shots. I also have been told to quickscope shots when I’m up in the team/in danger but for some reason it seems way harder this season than it was last season.
for me, i can only quickscope once (tho i'd prob miss), but when i try to quickscope immediately again, there's a delay in shooting (i fire but no bullet comes out). so now i either stay scoped in or not scope (tho when i do a single shot, then i use the quickscope). also, my aim is just bad in general, i miss heals and damage (sometimes i get lucky shots tho lol). i usually can hit an enemy once or twice, but its rare for me to finish them off. also, sometimes i reserve my nades for too long, or waste my sleep when i dont need to. but other than that, i feel like im getting much better on ana! :) im starting to hit more sleeps, one game in comp (it was just the first half tho) i had a 55% scoped accuracy and 71% sleep accuracy (im silver btw). i remember a hanzo fell off the high ground to shoot me, but i slept him and my team finished him. and in another game i slept an ulting genji, twice. so im getting better at sleep aim, even tho i miss the easy ones lol
@@TamWam_Accuracy will come with time, but you should challenge yourself. Don't avoid shooting at enemies because you're scared you'll miss. As for quick scoping, it sounds like you're just trying to scope too fast. Ana's rifle acts like a bolt-action. If you hip-fire and watch, you can see the exact moment a new projectile appears in the chamber. The trick is to scope in at that moment, no sooner. The timing does feel odd, I struggled with it myself. I highly recommend you watch Awkward for Ana guides if you don't already.
@@stupidmonkey151 ah alr tyty! tho i used to be a mercy/kiri two trick i think i’ll replace kiri with ana bc she’s so fun to play lol. ty again, and this one game i ended up having more kills than both tanks and enemy dps as ana (tho i did get a few kills on kiri when i swapped to her)
@@stupidmonkey151 no no its Speed comes with time, try your best to land as many sleeps as possible and eventually when youre used to it, *speed* will come. accuracy first speed later
Hi eskay I recently subed to your channel and I love your videos I just wanted to ask if you can do a widow guide I Know you are a support main but you are top 500 on dps so that's why I'm asking:) keep up the great work
Your aim is considerably better, but thanks! I need to work on my positioning! -- Question: How do I improve positioning if I am unfamiliar with the map? Just always favor the high ground if possible?
A few weeks ago, I did the same as you did in 1:20, threw my nade while my tank anti was about to run out, so they could get the heal buff, same reason as you, my gf said that was a really bad play, and watching you do the same, just makes me feel less bad :')
