For whatever reason I really enjoy Neglected/Underdog/Underestimated planes like this one here.

When I was flying SU25 some people were using rocket as flares(FFAR for example) and it was working well against R60M(~4 months ago).

Instead of wasting your missiles, you can just bring a rocket pod and fire that to distract the oncoming missile.

The Mirage III's are very fun to play right now as well, especially with the R-530's and Magic 1 shenanigans

It's a ton of fun to play in sim with a VR headset, it's an absolute monster in a 1 turn fight, and anyone who tries to take it into a 2 turn you can disengage very easily

You can use the dumb-fire rockets as a sort of limited shoot off flares

I earn more silver lions in the F-105 running bombs than almost any other plane. Stay low, drop bombs, climb to space, and mop up.

1:09 as far as I know the F-105 and the A-7 corsair with 1028 and 1030 rounds respectively for the internal Vulcan hold the most ammo for that weapon of any jet, ever. Next closest jet is the F-15 with 940

with the custom loadout feature, imo the best option for f105d is 2x 3000lbs and 4x aim9e It does not affect your performance that much, you are guaranteed to arrive first to a base (f4c accelerates faster but you can catch it if you are lucky with your high max speed) and since it can drop bombs above mach 1, you can keep your speed till the end and then climb to the fcken stratosphere

Love the CHAD-105 ThunderCock, probably my favorite plane in the game. I usually run the 4 missiles plus 3 3000lbs bombs, i like the challenge of finding a safe approach vector to get your bombs up, and it's a fucking rocket after you drop, almost nothing can catch you if you don't want. I really like multirole gameplay, i try to support the team once i get the bombs out, if you set up your attack route correctly you're usually behind atleast a couple unsuspecting enemies after getting your bombs off that you can punish

And now the F-111 has 2k rounds with the vulcan, can carry far more bombs, can fly faster without its afterburner than this thing can with it, and is at a comparable BR. :)

When I played this thing I ended up spading it with a 2.0kd playing it as a fighter in the smaller maps and during the very large maps I would bring a custom loadout with four missles and 750lb bombs. I would rush to the base and bomb on the large maps and then turn into a fighter or if someone tried to fight me unload the bombs and go for a fight. This thing is really good at avoiding mig21s while dodging and outrunning missles. With full performance upgrades it can outrun practically any plane at the BR. My first nation was Japan so I was used to flying the T2/F1 and it was very similar overall gameplay to those two aircraft.

Best you can get out of it is using the fact that it doesn't have a speed limit on the bombs so you can drop up to 3 30000lb bombs one meter off the ground in ground RB

I finally got the Mirage-2000! Roughly around 2 days ago, and I’ve been really enjoying it. I’m researched up to the magic 2s already. (I did insta GE flares for it, and the stock grind up into the good radar missile was a bit rough, but ah oh I’ve been enjoying it)

My biggest gripe with Thud is how wobbly it is when using mouse to aim the gun. Lack of rudder authority perhaps? Using keyboards for ailerons doesn't quite work either, as plane self levels so fast. Also 2x3000lb bombs are enough to kill a base and you don't sacrifice performance as much compared to usual 14x750lb payload, which can kill two bases. That said, my trick for bombing is very low level flight and drop bombs with CCRP. With 2x3000 you're still supersonic in level flight, Thud, unlike Phantoms, don't have mach 1 limit for bombs. With speed you can disengage then turn around for air targets of opportunity or RTB.

On release this thing was absolutely nuts, yet almost everyone used it like a bomb truck and got clapped by subsonics. The F-4C, FG1 and FGR2 all get 1200 rounds in their belly-mounted vulcans.

Didn't know this thing could carry missiles since I've only seen the f105 with bombs lol.

My tactic: take 8 750lb bombs, chaff pod, and 2 winders go up high so I’m less vulnerable, drop my bombs on a base from high up, then boom and zoom the enemy team to death lol

Most importantly of all it has the BEST intakes of any jet known to man

You can average with 40k per game if you use one 1000lbs bomb and fill the rest with 14 750lbs bombs and chaff or rockets and fly high off to the side and wait for the bases to respond or go for them but make sure your far enough to the side for you to be out of danger then you line up with the bases and drop the 1000lbs bomb and 6 750lbs bombs and use the rest on another base don't die and you can do it twice a game so 4 bases in total.

How do you have it to where you see the different variants of enemy aircraft? I.e. seeing the difference between F-5C and F-5E

I think the biggest outlier here is not having all the information that is being hidden. Like how many uptiers/downtiers did you have each game for both fighter and bombing mode. Did you have any outliers via the fighter gameplay say you had four games where you only got 2 or 3 kills then the last two you got 6 to 7 kills. To much information is being withheld to take this that seriously especially when being at 10.0 and facing plenty of mixed matches were A-10s and SU-25ks are constantly on the prowl. I'm not here trying to discourage anyone from using the F-105D as a fighter which it can do easily, but your also a Mach capable attack aircraft when the majority of your games are going to be filled with F-5C's A-10s, and SU-25s of which all of late have been carrying bombs as well. It's a very informational video, but at the same time I've had more luck and average RP/Silver lion games using it as a bomber instead of as a fighter. Also take my comment with a grain of sand since neither my playstyle or General Lees will work for everyone. He could just be better at dogfighting in general and I could be better at positioning myself to ensure that I bomb all the bases without dying.

I use this plane when I need bases as part of my daily task (6 bases) or a special task, (20 bases). It's not about RP or SL. I can outrun almost every teammate going in 1.07 Mach and everyone going out at 1.17 Mach on the deck. I never get an overspeed warning and there is no Mach limitation about dropping my BL. The only thing that can beat me is a spaded F-111.

There is no reason to bomb in the 105 and die with it's repair cost. F4C bombs just as well.

I just use the rockets as flares, works every time.

This is what bugs me about WT, EVERY Jet is now a fighter. The F-105 is technically a Fighter-Bomber, but it was really designed as a nuclear bomber. In Vietnam while it could carry Air to air missiles it rarely did. F-105 accounted for 28 kills (all Mig-17s) and every single kill was achieved by its 20mm gun, not its missiles. 9.7-10.3BR are saturated with aircraft that never carried AtA missiles IRL. I would like to see Gaijin remove all AtA missiles from all strike Aircraft like the SU-25, A-10, F-105, A-6 because frankly its ruining the game.

Such planes when played as fighter give a massive advantage to their team. I remember a match in which a couple of Su-7s went full fighter after dropping their bombs. They completely tipped the match on their team's favour, since most fighters on their team died after pulling idiotic full-commit head-ons. "Waaaah but it's written Attacker on the vehicle card. It's not meant for that. I can't do it." F*ck off and git good. Most attackers can fight and a lot of them are very good at it.

I run 3x2000 lbs and 4xAIM-9E and I do well. I climb and bomb at Mach 1.2- 1.5. I boom and zoom.

I have played a hundred plus matchs of f105, love it. Some in fighter mode and some in bomber mode. Mine also has a talisman and I must say bombs was way better for RP. you say it's time based but you gain RP from actions mostly and gain alittle from play time. Main thing is when people bomb they don't try to flank or stay hidden, then they die and get less rewards. In the A10 and su25 he'll meta that is mid teir jets it works best to side climb and dive bomb. Then use dive speed to GTFO before an aim9L gats you.

Also even looking around doesn't ensure spotting will work. I was doing my thing in an A-10 after killing an F-14(it was awesome) and doing loops around ground units gunning em. So I was literally looking 360 degrees around me almost constantly, and checking my minimap. I was by myself and making sure I was. According to what I could see There was no one near me for at least 25 miles, even friendlies. Right after I finished a turn and was going in for a gun run I got hit by an SU-25. Never showed up on my screen or minimap, despite constantly checking all around me to make sure I was safe to do so. Of course I type "thanks spotting" like I do when this happens. Some guy replies "typical A-10 player"... yeah... typical A-10 player on his second match in the A-10 who killed an F-14... So typical..

Of course we are playing a strategic bomber wrong when we use it strategically to bomb bases… the thud is just in warthunder a fighter because they did the flight model completely wrong, it was described in real life as a flying brick…. And a fighter never killed me in that thing, 100% loss rate by Gepard AA lazing me out of the sky!

I see no reason to play this over the f4c. You sacrifice a lot of firepower for that rip speed and that repair is painful

People bomb when they don’t want to play the game but still want to progress. Blame gaijin for making the game so grindy. And guess what, they are nerfing the economics again. What a joke.

BASE BOMBING DOESN'T WORK! sure you get your shiny new F-14B, but now what? You don't know how to use it and the argument "oh I'm a """FIGHTER BOMBER""" is bullshit, I used to bomb and it got me the F-4E when that was the top (fuck I'm old) when I used it as a fighter bomber and it rarely worked. And this was before PD RASAR or competent SARHM's. So from the advice of a veteran player don't bomb it puts you low and it most cases you must be subsonic to drop making you very vulnerable mostly coz you need to look where you are flying. Also bombing is why half these things have repair costs around 15K SL, the other half... don't fricking know

Expect you're using it "wrong" the F-105 ThunderChief, often nicknamed the "Thud", was designed and built as a "Fighter/Bomber" meant to drop Nuclear ordnance on the target and get the hell out of dodge as fast as possible, granted if used this role there was 50% chance the pilot and aircraft would be lost in said mission, as it counted as a suicidal mission with a low chance of returning, funnily enough the S1 & S2 Buccaneers where actually designed with a similar mission in mind, expect the pilot would pitch straight up and kick / throw the bomb out the rotary bomb bay as they continued to roll on their back and fly back the way they came, but being subsonic meant the chance at coming back was even less.
