I've done a lot of experiments with this. I talked to a chemist and there is a very volatile chemical that keeps the rubber soft and sticky. That volatile chemical evaporates quickly. That is why if you find a ball in the woods, the part that is buried in the mud looks bad, but is always the sticky part. The part that is out facing the environment loses the chemical. Best thing I've found to do is to keep a lid on the bucket. I also use to come home from practice and fill the bucket with water, the pour it off the next day. That worked awesome, but was labor intensive. The lid on a full bucket of balls seemed to be the sweet spot.
I just saw this but bought into this for myself last year. We have only been ordering Pearl X balls as of last season and this off season so far. I do not plan on ordering anything but Pearl X going forward. I would get Mints as well but we don't have direct access through school. Our contracted supplier can only get the Peral X's.
Bought a dozen LTs for shooting work indoors this winter, but looks like I should have grabbed the Xs. Price on the Mints seems hard to justify compared to the 100 count bucket of Xs. But either way, when you try to sell a school equipment guy on spending 3x or 4x on balls is never going to be an easy conversation.
@@POWLAX just submitted a request for a quote on our team order at Guradian. With all the shipping difficulties going on right now have you heard anything from them on what their turnaround times are or how much stock they have?
