I was Class of '77 and Into all sorts of music, especially Rock-n-Roll... So why have I not heard of these lady pioneers of rock until just recently..?! I feel cheated...

Such a superb group who never got the fame they deserved. _Charity Ball_ was a great little album and you can really hear their Beatles influence with things like the pitch-perfect harmonies and vocals through a Leslie cabinet on _Special Care._
Fanny were a fantastic band, ahead of their time! Girl bands in those days were the Supremes etc. These were the real deal.Unfortunately they girl rockers were not accepted like nowadays and they went unnoticed by many. I was well aware of them in 1970 and brought their albums. Glad they are getting recognition today!
3:27 - Alice looks so pissed at the back because the pre-recorded drums makes it difficult to time her drum parts which throws her playing dynamics out the window. She looks really cute though 😂

Man sorry I missed these rocking gals in '71. I was rocking but had never heard them in the south which is always behind the times. My friend was stationed in the Philipines and said the bars there had some of the most badass bands you never heard! The drummer stole stole my heart......
About 1976 or 1977 there was a philippinian funk/fusion band playing some gigs in Germany and they left people speechless after the concert... They had a lot of US influence.

@@JuneEsWorld hi june, wow!! i just found you all yesterday. shocking that none of my deadhead or other musician friends were singing your praises all these years. being that i was a summer of '69 baby, i always felt i was born 20 years late. this further confirms it. as you say, simpler times, and not to offend anyone as i support any adult in any well-considered choices they believe are right for them, when chicks were chicks...and can they rock my world, or what? so many loves lost, sigh..gratitude...love... is it all progress? i don't know. you lived through vietnam and i wonder at the inverse parallels of it all, now that up is down, left is right and well, i suspect you know..... at least i didn't miss you back then and it's only been the last 40+ years of rocking. i sent a small donation (would have sent more, but still working on reaching escape velocity myself and unwilling to work for the mandated machine, but appreciate how it brought me your wonderful music) and had wanted to write a note with the donation, but perhaps i missed the opportunity. so, i will put it up here for all the world to see. transparency...sadly lacking these days. there is too much to say. thank you would be the first thing. this is yet another tough time, which after these last 3 years is pretty crushing. more tears keep flowing which from a big, strong enough, huge-hearted guy, is not entirely what one is hoping for, though one thing i have learned on this healing journey is that unexpressed emotion (energy in motion) leads to physical dis-ease. i can't imagine the frustration you must have felt at times back then behind those bars you needed to bust through. aren't we all facing our own bars as we watch the shadows on the cave walls doing our best to determine what's real? i can only imagine the awesome music and thought jams up in the attic or later at fanny hill. we had a not dissimilar place back in '89/90 complete with trap door, though the outlaws motorcycle club was the view from the back steps, not the strip. 30 years later it's the hot neighbourhood. sadly, got busted there (mostly for someone else's crime) and it wasn't exactly what i would call a positive inflection point, but who knows in this upside down world. i survived, though our little trio which consisted of steve, martin and steve martin, yes, really, didn't.... i can only aspire to crush the keys as nickey does...never give up... being that i don't know if you will see this and so seldom do i get responses to my heartfelt epistles/missives, best not to put too much time into it when there is so much to do, but sharing my heart is all that matters these days. so, apart from the massive hugs, i also wanted to know if there has been any investigation into alternative healing therapies/treatments. i have gone quite a way down this rabbit hole road (never having found much relief in conventional/allopathic medicine) and wondered if you all were open to any information. who really knows how healing happens and certainly it is always the body and spirit rather than any external that bring true healing, but there are some amazing supports out there that i don't think the pill pushing, body butchering machine wants known. not to say that there isn't a place for medical monopoly medicine as well, but, well, don't get me started.... if jean (or yourself) are open to it, i can offer distance energy healings which (i know might sound crazy) can be quite effective or at least bring peace. i would consider it an offering for the healing your music has already brought me in less than 24 hours. no pressure, but happy to share with no expectations. if you tell me your symptom, i will cure your disease literally just played...synchronicity? 40 years of people telling me i look like sting and i'm beginning to wonder... anyhow, i just wanted you to know how deeply i am touched by your music and your story. i am beyond intrigued and will go deep in the coming weeks on everything i can find about your times then through now. being a story lover and teller, i have already directly forwarded links to your music to close to half the people who will still talk to me. well, hopefully it's not that bad, but now that i have discovered fanny, i suspect i will be a fanny-head for life. i didn't even know it had the meaning of female spirit until 5 minutes ago and adding this in as i edit my words. i love you even more. sweet lord, to have a wayback machine and be walking past fanny hill with the door open and the tunes blasting...damn, crying again, such a pussy cat. you are so blessed to have had those experiences. i wonder if there is a reason why your past and my present have come together now. nearly 900 words later...hard to argue that those weren't the times and tunes that made america great, much as i don't buy into political lies...truth...peace...love... s
LOL… I believe this is the one that Alice (the drummer) hated because it was lip-synched. When the camera goes on her you can see that she is really not into this at all… In any case I so love this song and I love these ladies like crazy… I have become a Fanny Fanboy!
Yeah, I was thinking about that myself. And Nickey looks like she thinks it’s a joke when she’s playing the Fender Rhodes solo on a studio piano. And June is laughing at it, too. But yeah, Alice hates it!
It's cool how my comments get axed re: my observation of, and appreciation for how different and yet the same the sisters are. I'm of mixed race and don't resemble many of my family.The fact that Fanny is anchored by siblings, and they come from the the same family yet resemble both sides is somehow offensive to the curators of this page.
