I like it however It needs a tiny bit of work to be fair. I feel like the glint should only happen if A) the target is looking in your direction, B) if obstructed by smoke leafs or other debris hide the effect. Until then it’s just a stupid gimmick.
I think glint is fine. It needs obviously need to stop shining through objects. It's maybe a little bit too bright. We can imagine a game mechanic where intensity of the glint changes depending of the range. Like very low glint for close range (~20m max), bright glint for normal ranges, and slightly lower glint for insane ranges (+1000m). It doesn't make sense when someone sitting at 1300m shines brighter than a lighthouse.
I think how intense the glint is should depend on size of the scope, and distance. So if you are using a high zoom up close it's very apparent but if you're 1000 meters away with a 20x you need to pay a lot more attention to notice it. I think it's a fair middle ground. You shouldn't be so easily spotted a couple hundred meters away just because you have 2x more zoom than your average sight you'd see on an assault rifle.
Intensity and angle from target too perhaps. Perhaps at 6x basically the person you're aiming at sees the glint. Would have to see how it plays for everyone though
MASSIVE DISAGREE, snipers are the reason I don't play large FPS games in general but the scope glint has made dealing with it tolerable. Scope glint is literally the best idea in the game and reducing it would give me a stroke.
Scope glint is awful. At least the way it's implemented now. As someone previously said, at least dont make it glaringly obvious when someone isn't even looking anywhere near you. And as far as the other guy, 1 hit kill snipers are a viable option, especially when they're playing the objective, in games like arma koth, 2km+ kills overlooking an objective is satisfying.
I.. agree that having no scope glint is nice, especially at closer ranges. I disagree with the (implied) claim that using long range scopes is categorically wrong. I've been having the time of my life counter-sniping with the 15x up to 1200 meters, occasionally pulling out the 20x if I have to push past that range. I have binoculars to spot targets, and if I get spotted in return, I can reposition. The worst thing someone can do is sit still, or come back to the same spot again and again. They may be able to get kills from that position, they may have the aim necessary, but they definitely don't have the mindset. In regards to scope glint, while I dislike it, I think it's a necessary balancing tool. Helps the blind find me and return fire if I don't nail them in the first shot or two. Besides, it puts the fear of God in any players attempting to cross open terrain without smoke.
Yeah idc how far I am I’m gonna mount my 249 and take burst and we’ll placed shots at any glint I see most aren’t brace enough to keep aiming at me I will put the most high def optic just to do that
Work smarter, not harder as they say. Sure, you can go with no scope glint and figure out how to fight that way, you can also learn how to play differently to account for scope glint. Not everyone can be Simo Hayha (I'm aware he used irons, but it's the closest comparison.) but not everyone needs to be Simo Hayha to do well and may be making it harder on themselves trying to be them.
That last point about scope glint discouraging players from running in the open should be what snipers are for from a gameplay perspective. Scope glint is good and only fair as nothing else in the game can one shot. And only one or two guns can two shot in rare circumstances
I'm a sniper main w/ a medium scope but I'll admit that it's cracked. Takes some skill to aim, and I mostly go after other snipers, but it's still very exploitable. Honestly, after SMGs, I think this should be nerfed somehow
Another awesome thing about the midrange scopes is, you don‘t get any breathing sway! Obviously, you can hold your breath with the LR scopes, but it is just so much easier and nicer not having it at all… At least thats my humble opinion.
I suppose a good fix would be to make the scope sparkle briefly only once when you first look in their direction or when they initially zoom in on you. The goal should be to notify you, not to place an "arrow" over the sniper.
I've always used around an 8x for snipers in battlefield games for years. I'm well aware of my scope glint which is why I won't ADS until I'm actually ready to take the shot. This minimizes the time the time people have to spot my glint.
The scope glint is a bit too much right now. It works sort of at much longer ranges but around 300m sniping with long range scopes just doesn't make sense for me. You just aim and are instantly spotted. I'm assuming there is a 'cone' in front of the scope and everyone in it can see your glint (i.e someone close below you while your on a roof wouldn't see the glint or someone to your side. Maybe reducing the size of this imaginary cone, the brightness and making it so it doesn't show through some objects would be a good change.
As a recon main, i LOVE the scope glint. It doesn't take much to unlock a medium scope, and for anything under 700m, it's a no brainer. You already know long range scopes trade stealth for zoom, and you already know that anyone can zero their rifle to 1000m, so just stop being stupid. If you're gonna use a long range scope, be smart and get VERY far away or get counter sniped. This comment was made by medium scope gang.
Depends on your playstyle. If you're constantly repositioning after every few kills, or using the glint to purposefully lock down a sightline, then the long range scopes are fine. If you play closer and would prefer to not alert snipers when you're countersniping, then medium scopes are preferred. Although I will admit that scope glint is a bit much at the moment. The glint goes through various objects (even walls sometimes), and if you shoot for the center of the glint you're more or less going to score a headshot.
While I like the 4x and under scopes, I prefer the 15x because I usually snipe people ~800m+ out; DEFINITELY where I get the most enjoyment out of the game. I hope they change glint through the foliage/objects soon though - basically a “one-way smoke” where long range snipers don’t have a chance
@@bjonky4723 Yes, correct - you play the sweaty version of the game while I enjoy my time strolling through the daffodil and peony fields in the back of the map, giddy every time I hit a 1000m+ snipe. I'm happy with the game I play lol
I don’t mind the glint. Snipers should be shooting and repositioning anyways not standing still hardscoping. From a balancing standpoint, I think it’s benificial as well playing as assault the glint warns you that a sniper may have eyes on you or where you are moving to. It’s kind of intimidating moving through a field with no cover and you see that glint in the distance. Snipers would be OP without it.
Would love to see more battlebit vids. Sniping is so fun in this game and would love to see your favorite load outs once you unlock stuff. I personally think the l96 is actually better than the m200 because the m200 has such slow movement speed
@@Slick6464 true velocity is insane on it. I like playing more aggro with l96 and you get slightly less velocity than m200. But i'm curious to hear stods thoughts
My favorite is the Remington 700, every time I use it the kills start pouring in, it just feels so smooth and good to shoot. Not sure what it is I haven't compared the stats of the sniper rifles.
Yeah I discovered the I4 scope yesterday when someone told me the 4x didnt have sniper glint. Started POPPING OFF killing the whole team from the top of the statue in Frugis, then got two 1300+m headshots on targets in a helicopter on Sandy Sunset. It can do it all
Agree for medium-range snipes using long range. But for anything over 700 meters, actually long range, glint is a little broken. But at that point, when I snipe people like that, my opponents are also sniping over 700 meters. So idc
I found a lot of success using medium range scopes at up to around 800 m max. Anything beyond that a proper scope is needed. Once you get beyond 1000 m, it doesn't matter if snipers can see you because you can dodge most incoming fire and counter snipers will need to figure out their zero at odd ranges at that point. I went 55 and 2 in one match with all kills over 1000 m. As long as you are in a good spot and know your zeroes it's really not that hard nor impressive. Though you will mostly be only shooting other snipers going after closer range targets because they are the only ones staying still long enough.
Bro you’re damn good man lol. I’m loving watching this game blow up the way it has. It deserves nothing but praise. It’s like the devs were beaten down by 2042 like I was and they said “Fuck it, we’ll do it ourselves.”
Also make sure you are using the normal chest armor for the extra ammo. I changed the zero increase/decrease to the mouse wheel (without alt) and it helped so much. I removed the change scope keybind from that. Remember that zero point reset after every life
When modern day gamers realize they don't need high graphics and such, but prefer smooth gameplay with all sorts of features and destruction. I'm 51 yr old school gamer. Don't play anymore due to all the cheats, and game issues.
I'm so addicted to sniping in this game, it's soooo satisfying! I've been running the suppressor on the SV98 though since I find it way easier to go unnoticed when I'm doing a little aggressive recon behind enemy lines
YOU'RE unbalanced. I think the glints are good. Some of these boys are laying static holding long-range scopes down, I don't think anyone's sad about those glints. Stop them rendering over foliage and tarps, if feasible, sure.
@@kiro-fo9qgA semi-auto one shot DMR might be too OP without huge recoil like the mk20 has or at least a huge mobility debuff that makes positioning important.
@@kiro-fo9qg would not expect that, unless they implement some kind of limited supply pickup weapons, same as battlefield, but i would like to see some other high powered rifles, like the menstioned M98B, or M95
@@bulletghost3452 would u say the mk20 is a better dmr than the mk14? Not really used them but I've enjoyed popping snipers in the skull with the latter I just unlocked
since your last video (talking about the sniper glint) i changed my scope to the acog. and i also put on the short suppressor and C auto-rechamber with 20bullet mags. i dislike the other medium scopes because they lack the zeroing bar that most (if not all) sniper scopes have, and i use it extensively. thx for the tips last video, and pls continue making such awesome content
you could always just hold alt and scroll wheel to your desired range zero and click on people's skulls from 800 meters... but if you're having fun guessing how high to hold don't let me knock your fun.
Did you just say that nobody can SPOT you? What do you need to unlock for people to not be able to see you? So they don't see a "shiny white reflection" in the distance then? o NVM I SEE I understand!
@OctoberSkys yeah they give a lot of leeway. If you shoot a wall you can see where to aim with the scope. Technically want to use the tip in this game.
Considering the size of the battles, and the maps with a plethora of cover to work with, I personally think the scope glint mechanic shouldn't exist. We already have tracers on every round, so it's not hard to spot snipers when you're looking for them; but I think it's ridiculous for a rifle to have what is essentially a high-powered flashlight mounted on the top.
My biggest pet peeve is dying and on the map screen is a respawn beacon at the edge of the map with the one living squad mate who is camping there sniping. Don’t be a useless sniper! All my high kill count games have been when I’m sniping cuz I play the objectives! Get in the fight ffs.
Little tip from a long time sniper, when going long range use the recon drone and fly it up high to spot stationary snipers from above. Always try to position yourself 2+ Meters back shooting through the smallest hole you can make, if you can't make this sniper nest shoot twice then move position and always change if a sniper is looking at you. use a bipod only if you are laying on the ground peaking through this small hole. Anything else, use the stubby. Finally, use your canted sight to aim at your target before switching to your main scope. I can switching optic bound to a thumb button so I always have quick access to the trigger. It goes like this; switch to canted > peak and aim > swap to main scope > fine adjustments > fire > swap to canted. Whole thing means I have less than 200ms scope glint
Someone in my team's squad wouldn't stop complaining about the scope glint in VOIP, even taking to the [ALL] chat to try and rally support for his campaign against the realism of their being sniper glint at night. Meanwhile, I'm being sprayed with a vector from two sides while prone after reviving and healing 10+ teammates. So far I love the snipers and think it balances gameplay but I would hate to not be able to detect ANY snipers so I hope most snipers miss this advice and continue blinding me from a distance for easy spotting.
There is no notification when unlocking a new bolt, learned that the hard way. Just check it periodically. Also, I don't think a sniper gets scared of another sniper without a glint. They have a high-power scope, so they can see us either way, unless they're behind a tree or fabric. We 4x snipers can't see shit at 800m+. Gotta Flex Tape my eyes to the screen.
I’ve always said this for any game with snipers and scope glint. They need to make a kill flash an accessory. Make it where you have to choose between a bipod, straight bolt, or a killflash. For those who don’t know what a kill flash is, it’s the honeycomb cover you see on the end of scopes
As someone who's already used medium scopes on smaller maps and had great success, it's ridiculous saying that using a long range scope is the wrong way to play. Medium range scope can be fun to play on some maps for sure though.
I think glints should only show up if you look at the direction of the sniper aiming in, just fix the glare through objects and add a smaller one for the smaller scopes, maybe a scaling from small scope to big
They need to make it so the glint doesnt go through obstacles, only when they are looking within a certain degree of you, and so they dont appear if you are in shade/indoors. Otherwise its like you have a spotlight attached to the front of your rifle that says "Shoot me!" Either that or an attachment for your scope known as a kill flash that eliminates scope glint irl. Whoever came up with the idea of scope glint doesnt know how they really work irl
This is how I've been sniping ever since I unlocked the L96. I use the long silencer too so I can get deep into enemy lines without being heard. Works like a charm, hit 700 meter + headshots with ease, just aim at the sniper glint and zero the scope using a 3.4x of your own
if you want to play aggressive and quick scope people point blank the 6x is still better. it scopes in quicker and is more level when scoping in. seems im the only one sniping like that though so 4x might be better for you guys :)
The actual difference here tho is that your enemies barely move and never shoot at you, contrary to my gameplay where as soon as I even barely show myself, half the enemy team will have started to shoot at me and parkouring like its assassins creed
The SV is the best with just the medium range scopes. Thanks to the high velocity you can get some insane shots. Its kinda of a a nuisance to hit someone over 1,000 meters but possible once you get used to the scope you are using. I haven't tried the other snipers yet since I haven't unlocked them but when I do I see how well that goes.
glints through terrain should obviously be fixed. well, maybe not all of it, if someone is hiding in bushes that is fair game, but when you have like a piece of tarp hanging on a wall, it should obviously not glint through that.
Bullet drop in this game is an illusion. When you die and click report player, you can spectate them, and see every player's ray casts. You can even freecam to pretty much cheat for your teammates. The only reason you gotta aim above a player's head is because of some cheap trickery involving the scope / gun sway. If you're gonna use a small range scope, you might as well set your FOV low like 60, give you better accuracy.
so far ive only unlocked the sv98 and im sure once I get to the higher tier snipers this wont be as much of an issue but Im just a bit frustrated with the hitmarkers I mean I get that a one hit kill may be a little too overpowered but today I had a sniper battle with another player across a valley at about 1000m range and I got only hitmarkers I even managed to headshot him and I got a fucking blue hitmarker...
This is what I used to do on Groundwar in Cod. Can take a little getting used to but taking away the glare is huge and most enemy snipers aren't looking for you. Great vid!
The glint is too bright It should only be visible if the sniper is looking directly at you and foliage should obstruct the glint, you can see sniper glint through leaves or bushes in real life
I heard somewhere that you have to re-zero your range before every shot. Is this true? Also, how long does it take to unlock the attachments you mentioned in the video?
The 2 things I dont like with snipers are, scope glint. Cause its just overly exageratted. And, if im 500m+ out, and I dome someone in the back of the head, they almost always get revived, and then. THEY SNAP to my location. And its just kinda annoying.
i used a similar method in battlefield 1. i would use the martini henry because it only had the iron sight and i would just shoot at glints and get kills. i would also shoot at enemies that were spotted and usually get them too
"here use this scope to snipe better" Have to grind 10 hours to unlock Okay buddy God I hate this shitty outdated Battlefield 4 grind style progression
Black Ops 1 og was a revelation for me, and I was a kid when Counter Strike was around. I love using the in-game "grind xp" currency system in those games to "pay" for weapon unlocks. BF Hardline also let you use the same system to get weapon unlocks and weapons and equipment. I wish 2042 had that as it would make sense given the world situation and barter economy the No-Pats would have being mercenary nomads ever on the move dealing with Archangel and the Black Market...
Totally ignoring teammates. Well played. Yeah middle range zoom really can make a difference even if you have the problem with "some" cheaters not wanting to die.
I suck at sniping and I think snipers are annoying but even so I think they need to take another look at scope glint. It's way too bright, and obviously the shining through objects needs to be fixed. I think for a game like Battlebit having glint isn't a problem, but it does clearly need a few balance passes.
The glint is a bit excessive. You can see it at any angle even if it’s lot looking your way Hell I even see it through walls sometimes. Also having a suppression mechanic balances snipers better than glint
I have no clue why FPS games keep having this insane scope glint.. It even exists in night maps, makes zero sense... have sniping being harder with wind etc. and remove that annoying bull, or atleast make it much harder to see.
I switched to that mid range scope you were using at video start as soon as I got it. Unless you want to go try for extreme long distance headers... Mid range is the way
@@maj_pr0blems It depends for me, I landed 3 1.7km shots on other snipers with mid range today because they're easy to spot with scope glint, otherwise I land 1km - 1.2km consistently since SV can zero to 1km, I understand that it's hard to land those shots with SSG though if you're using that
Im struggling sniping, what zeroing distance do you guys usualy use or do you keep altering it ? As in the gameplay i either miss it or never see them change the zero distance.
I v been playing today with this mid range scope set up and it makes things soooo much easier. With a glint you have like 30 seconds max before they work out where you are. You either get sniped or someone flanks you. With this setup I can sit somewhere for 5 minutes and no one can work out where i am. Its so awesome.
Scope-glints need to: Have the angle at which they appear reduced. Its so unfair for snipers to be spotted by enemies they're not even aiming close to. It's also the biggest deterrent for playing snipers in their intended way. Also, the "scope-glint robot" thingy, no one falls for that anymore. It's way too predictable, and should have randomized on/off timing and random duration of scope-glinting. I also wouldn't mind adding tracer/air distortion lines to the bullets fired from snipers (like in Valorant? I've never played it but from what I can see there's like an air distortion behind your bullets? Or like Widomaker and Ana in Overwatch, when firing scoped in).
I'm awful at this game and have been running iron sights bolt action out of pure bloody stubbborness. I die constantly, rarely get kills, but when you iron sights someone from far far away or get that sneaky kill on a sniper looking for scope glints it feels so good.
I really hate the glint mechanic. Not sure which AAA title did it first, but I've hated it since day 1. I'm no recon/sniper main either. The glint effect just completely wrecks the purpose of a player who should be well-hidden and taking their time.
I honestly dislike how glint is a permanent glow in Battlefield and by extension Battlebit. As I said before, someone who has not shot for half a minute or more, should be spared of the scope glint until they shoot again
so far my farthest sot is 1100 meters with the first medium scope because i didnt get this one unlocked yet but ive been leveling up my sniper so i can get this one u using
You match what the rangefinder says. You can always not zero your scope and compensate the bullet drop naturally, anyway, you need to do it for >500m since zeroing only goes to 500m
hard agree. when i see scope glint, i see a free kill with my 4x. 800, 900, 1000 meter kills are easy when theres a huge spotlight on the enemy's head.
I've played about 55 hours of Battlebit so far exclusively as Recon - Here are some tips about sniping for new players and some thoughts about the current "balance" for recons. 1. Use a medium-range scope as Stodeh says. - Scope glint on long-range scopes is extremely obviously. On PC especially, people will laser you with normal rifles (AK, M4, SCAR, etc) by spraying in your general direction and since BBR has such a short TTK, you'll die A LOT from people just seeing the glint, spraying in your direction and getting a lucky headshot and random body hit. I believe the scope glint at the moment is extremely unbalanced as it makes sniping from any distance beyond a couple hundred meters extremely difficult on moving targets. 2. BUILD, BUILD, BUILD cover - for those that are still new, when you score squad points or your squad does, you can build sandbags/concrete barriers around your position. Use this to your advantage. If you have a sniping spot that's great but on one or more sides, there's no cover, hold down middle-mouse and click to build fortifications and place walls blocking your unguarded sides. You can also use this feature to your advantage to create your own sniping spots by building sandbags, etc on top of one another to put you higher into the air. Extremely useful for maps that are flat with very bad sniping like tensatown or others with almost no snipings spots (that aren't completely obvious) 3. Use rally points for your squad - Same concept, squad points can be used to build rally points so that your squad can spawn on them virtually anywhere. As recons, we travel to good vantage points away from objectives and in secluded areas where we won't be shot or spotted easily. Use what you are already doing to create spawn points for your squad to take objectives and take the enemy team by surprise by constantly spawning on top of them even if they have the objective captured. - on the flipside, if you need a spawn point for just yourself, you can take a quad and park it anywhere inside your team's safe zone (where you're still capable of shooting) and it will allow you to spawn on it as much as you want. You can use it as a mobile spawn point and enemies won't even notice it because it's a vehicle, not a rally point/spawn beacon. Anyway, as far as balance, I honestly really dislike how recon is done in Battlebit. I feel like the devs really tried to disincentivize long-range sniping to the point that it's barely viable without getting killed every 1-2 minutes. You also have no way to hold a good sniping spot once you die unless your teammates or a rally point are close by. You could spend 15+ minutes getting to a good sniping spot, only to get unlucky and have a guy halfway across the map see you, spray a rifle 300+ meters, kill you, then you have to make your way all the way back. Use your squadmates, rally points and vehicles to your advantage to minimize this but you'll still be walking a majority of the time. Secondly, the fact that most maps have such an intense "fog of war" that you can't see beyond about 300 meters really kills the sniping on those maps. Some don't have it that bad, but many do and many there are not even any high spots to get kills as a recon. You'll be constantly fighting for a tiny rooftop with bad visibility that is constantly targeted because it's the only spot on the entire map that has any visibility for sniping good angles. On maps that have very bad visibility and no sniping, use building to try and create your own sniping spot above trees, etc to get better angles than the crappy map buildings. Lastly, the recon having no good pistols until around level 80 sucks, so you'll be using the default MP443 the most. If you can, run a suppressor and red dot, makes it easier to kill people and stay hidden in CQB when you have to, but try to avoid getting into any gunfights where you can't use your rifle. As a recon, you're going to die a lot. A lot a lot. So try your best to stay hidden. Your armor typically sucks compared to everyone else so the best way to win a fight is to not be in it in the first place and stay as far away from people as possible (which is why the recon balancing frustrates me to no end) - You make a weak class designed for long-range engagement and do everything in your power with balance to force them to have to fight/snipe within 200 meters and with their best equipment, they're so glaringly visible and obvious and die so quickly that it makes it impossible to really do effectively. I'm hoping someday recons can get a personal spawn beacon (that works like BF3/BF4 spawn beacon for only the recon themselves) as well as a less obvious scope glint or attachments that reduce the scope glint. Some of these maps are so large, yet it's so easy to spot people 500+m because of the scope glint. The glint should only be visible when using ADS imho and only when you're looking in the direction of the sniper's scope. But, instead the devs descided to make long-range scopes small spotlights to the entire map that shows literally everyone where you are. The game was initially designed to be a more-casual sim-style game. When snipers/recons have to constantly move and can't even snipe from 300+m because of a constant barrage of bullets, it's almost completely pointless to even try on most maps because the higher sniping spots are apparent to everyone. I get people don't want to be dominated by snipers but that's why the enemy team also has them - recons counter other recons. Nerfing recons for everyone by making them have a massive marker on the screen through objects and at stupid angles makes recon possibly the worst class to play (unless you only use medium-range optics) which really nerfs the range recons can utilize. I think within the next year or two, Battlebit will have a lot of things rebalanced and working better. I'd also prefer a kill-cam similar to Battlefield rather than the ragdoll that they have now where you just kind of sit dead on the ground until you're picked back up. This would also help with spotting pesky recons that are in cheesy spots and also help find people exploiting collision on maps in spots that should be impossible to reach.
Scope glint needs fixing. Ways to fix it: 1. Glint only appears when you are over 500m away and they are looking close to where you are at. Then it'll encourage sniper vs sniper fights and mean players will have to look/listen for gun shots to locate a concealed sniper. 2. Glint only appears when the hold breath button is held down. 3. All scopes have a small glint that can appear when aiming at someone - if you are aiming down sights and your crosshair goes on them and you are on their screen, they see the glint. 4. Have a scope attachment (like a lense cover) that blocks off a big chunk of the scopes view (think looking through a slit) but reduces the glint. Also, no zoom/adjustible scopes? The top scopes should have different distance settings or at least give us the option to put the scopes on either attachment point.
My biggest question is how do people build multilevel forts out of the basic sandbags. I have yet to see any video covering that. It's very useful when you're camped out shooting across the map and you can pull off some cheeky angles while standing straight up but being completely covered on all sides. I've only had 1 squad mate who knew how. I've been trying but the build system is so wonky. If you know please tell us! Also, very sick shots! My proudest moment in this game so far is a 711m shot on a moving target with a no glint scope. Also shot a couple dudes out of Humvees which is so satisfying lol
