YOU Should buy a SONY RX100V, And Here's Why! 

Hey. Thanks for the video. I am really tempted to buy this camera now. I had a question regarding photos. Do they click as good pictures as well? I am looking to buy this compact camera mainly for pictures as I am a blogger and take lots of pictures from my phone and plan on upgrading to a better professional camera.

Hey TEDD, this is one very cool smaller format video camera with very nice specs. Seems to have many features but the limit on video length seems to be a problem along with no mic input. Have you happened to find a workaround for the video recording limit and is there a limit on other modes? I own and love this camera. I use it with a lavaliere mic and synch the sound in iMovie for RU-vid videos. To my knowledge, it's the only Sony with a "flippy" screen. Takes nice snaps too. Great overall value, and I bought it over a year ago new for just under $1000. Now with the RX100 VI, you can pick it up for way less.

The absolute best combo for me is having the rx100v and the HX99. Pretty much covers all bases!

The whole RX line is just wonderful. Own a first gen RX1 that still is one of the best portable stills camera today, and my parents own a RX10M4 and a RX100M5 which they take everywhere when traveling. For the features you get with the RX models I think the prices are definitely justified, not to mention the deals you can find recently (as you mentioned in the video).

Interesting that the best choice for RX100 is not the current updated model, but the previous version V. I get it that people wanted more zoom range but the cost in lens speed is just not worth it. 1.8-2.8 is worth gold. But the biggest sin was taking out the ND filter. I get it that a lot of amateurs don’t know why and how they should use an ND, but for anyone serious with their video, that ND is more gold. Interesting that product shooting is talked about here. I have heard this from no-one else and it is a very real and incredibly useful capability. Five star review for highlighting the things that get overlooked, and also for describing the positive of the workaround for the lack of mic jack, rather than the negative of just b**ching about it. Every camera I have ever owned has had limitations that required looking for solutions. Nothing is perfect, but solutions are what is needed. Ultimately, though, the best reason for the RX100 series is barely mentioned here and that is the slowmo capabilities in an affordable camera. The only comparable affordable package (almost, because it is the 240fps that is most useful) is the GoPro Hero 7 but a 24-70 lens and a faster aperture is far more useful than an ultra-wide for slowmo in general photography, although, the GoPro and the RX100 make a brilliant and complementary pair with each making up for the limitations in the other. And both are small enough to make carrying both easy to do.

I would love to see you make a video on best cameras for family vacation. I don’t vlog and most videos (by everyone) are about best vlog this and that. What about most convenient camera to take on family vacation and still get quality footage without a DSLR weighing you down. Think Sam Kolder with kids on a budget haha. Love your channel BTW

I just bought it seconds ago for 400 bucks. Returned my 1 day old newly bought hx99 due to being defective. Glad I did, now the rx100 v is coming in the mail soon and for less! Then hx99. Saved money and upgraded. Hell yeah. Loving the videos. Edit: this video is 2 years old and open box for 500? Wow! I just checked Best buy now, 2 years later open box goes more then 800? Multiply the aperture by the crop factor (2.73) too. It's 35 mm equivalent is a 24mm-70mm/f4.9-f7.6. Not bad, but it's not like a 24mm/f1.8.

Hmm, overheat warning in 5 minutes at 4K? Appears 4K will be the popular frame-rate going forward. I'm already skipping to the 4K flagged videos if the subject in the title is similar. Think I'll use a Hero 7 Black for quick-draw and shoot, the Galaxy S10 for super low light, and the GH5 for quality, those all do 4K no time limit. IMHO... 🤔😎😇

Just to be a nerdy aperture guy, the FF equivalent on the RX100V's lens would be 24-70 f/4.8-7.8 (round up, F5 to F8 about). But that's not bad at all! F8 on a full frame camera isn't too offensive.

5k down sampled to 4k* on the rx100v. The 6300,6500,7riii, & a7iii shoot 6k & down sample it to 4k

Be careful guys, the screen finish will deteriorate like many Sony Cam from that time. You can even see it in this video. With time, it will cover most of the screen. Personnaly, i replaced the plastic screen with a glass one for my DSC-HX200V.

For the price i coukd get a Lumix tz90

For the price i prefer put a few 100 more and get the fuji xt3

I think Sony should reinvent the RX100 VA, by leaving the original settings, Fix the over hearting, Longer 4k recording, adding a Mic input, an option to hold an external Mic, touch screen, better battery, life, the ability to see the info at the bottom of the screen when in selfie mode. Then you will have the ultimate Vlogging/photo/video camera.

A non replaceable lens with tiny sensor, 1000$ brand new. Yeah, right, such a great deal. If this is a great deal then I don't know what BMPCC 4K is. If you're not a photographer or a videographer maybe you should stick to what you know?
