Dude your Podcast are amazing!! I look forward to hearing them every week, sometimes with even more anticipation than a GOT episode!! Really Good Stuff! Especially with all the Topics you'll touch upon. N i wish they were daily and not weekly!
Hands down Daniel, this is the best podcast that I enjoyed listening to, both Atul and Radhika have great perspective about the topics you guys discussed. Definitely adding it to my playlist to have a listen a few more times.
I really appreciate the way u keep Ur point and also keenly listen to other's point of view.,sir....Good to see discussion on topics of social awakening...the description on critic's views was apt....Got a great lesson today ..that we need to accept our failures with grace and appreciate them and also appreciate the ppl who make us realise that...waiting to see discussion on more such Interesting topics.......
I recently started working at Cisco in California. In my office building ground floor lobby, they have a common single person restroom for all the genders. One day while getting off from work I visited the restroom and found that the restroom have a basket full of tampon supplies which women can use. I am not sure if that is the norm or if most of the restrooms for women have the supplies but I was amazed by the thoughtfulness and openness and the small gesture that can turn into a huge help to someone when in need.
They do that where I study too. They keep a limited daily supply of both pads and tampons in each washroom on campus for women to use in case they don't have any money on them to be able to buy the products from the dispensers that are placed there too.
Daniel, I have been listening to each episode of 'You Started It' pretty religiously. I like the honesty in the conversations and kudos to you and your guests for having the courage to talk about topics that are usually all hush hush. Brownie points to you for starting the discussion about menstrual leave. We really aren't in a position to pick sides just yet, or to say the least, both sides of the argument have valid points. However, just to get people to start talking about this topic openly has been a challenge. Good job.
Hello Daniel, I just binged watched most of your episodes. Thoroughly enjoyed it. For season two could you do a round table discussion on the art of comedy? sort of like the "talking funny" HBO special. I would like to hear about it from Indian comedians. :)
18:45 dude, I am living in Germany. they actually use every fucking type of engineering though main road dug up 6 feet deep.. work has been going on since 6 months.. the huge difference is they plan everything in detail and do once.. it is inconvenience in the sense that I have to walk 5 min more to catch the bus.. otherwise everything is good.. and population plays big role as well..
An upgrade from the last podcast (couldn't sit through it - sorry) ... this one was like being a spectator to some really intelligent conversation ... and Atul seems so much more sober than the loud Sindhi he plays on stage ... Brilliant for a show without a script and catering to both sides of any story .. Kudos to the quality and content !! (y)
So much shade thrown around throughout the podcast >.< Lol! ...Radhika Vaz i completely adore you; I have read your articles in The Times for years and then I saw your stand-ups on youtube; it's breathtaking to encounter a person who's exactly alike on print and the reel - as an avid reader, that's genuinely a delight
Great points put forward regarding the period leave for women, I agree with most of them. There's just one point that I am not sure about- given that this is something that they don't have any control over, should these leaves be paid or unpaid? If these are to be paid, should they be asked to put extra hours on the working days to adjust the leaves? In my experience, which is limited at best, the corporate world has implemented equal pay on the basis of designation fairly well, just doling out leaves without having the debate first might create resentment towards the fair sex in men.
Hi Daniel! I really love your show.. You bring in a lot of comedians together here unlike others.. I have a small request, it will be great if you bring Vasu Primlani on your show, because I think she is pretty awesome but doesn't get much coverage over the internet. Cheers! :)
The BMC should try suing the HC CJ for defamation now. About govt employees: Employee quarters and pensions. Something private sector jobs do not have. So there's no real excuse.
Honestly, i wouldn't mind if period leave was made a permanent policy, i'd really appreciate someone allowing me to take a day off curl up my couch and wait for the pain to pass because honestly, any person in pain is the worst version they can be - grumpy, irritated, impatient, frustrated and angry (let me also mention that you're always wondering whether your pad is full and coz of this always tense - "kahi leak na ho jaye!"). That is not exactly the type of person you want in the office... especially because good quality work requires reflection and time. @Daniel I read through your response to Barkha Dutt's argument on period leave and honestly i appreciate the fact that you're so empathetic about it! And personally i don't know whether the whole period leave is progressive or regressive. It's a nice feeling to be able to say to whoever that I've got my period and i really really need a day off. So thank you for understanding (or trying to. whichever suits you better xD)!
1. Make the leave day option - those who want can take it , those who don't its fine (maybe reward them ?) 2. Also give them the option to compensate by working on another day wherever possible.
Hi Daniel, This was a nice podcast. I just wanted to share my thoughts on period leave. A lot of women across India are not allowed to enter the kitchen, temple etc during their period. As we know, none of these practices were meant to suppress women. It started because someone somewhere was empathetic and sensible about periods, but over the years logic just flew out of the window leaving us with another weird practice. I just hope this doesn't end up being another menstrual taboo some day where a menstruating woman cannot go to work.
i agree. this age old Practice was to give women some rest. respect for our traditions which are scientific if you think about them hard enough. though some of them have lost their meaning because our life styles have changed with more amenities
Daniel, would you discuss the issue about the recent GST effects on the normal populous. one of the issues you could discuss about how under GST, the taxes on makeup and beauty products has bee decreased, but the taxes on the sanitary napkins and and tampons have been increased from 3% to a mind boggling 12%. this is a very important issue and we should talk about it. i am trying to get in touch with a person who has a voice which the populous listens to to address this issue.
dude, silicon valley....high five..... And u know what, I also fucking laugh loud when I watch the show... I thought I was over reacting, but now that I know u also do it, I can't help but appreciate the talent of the makers of SV.
These are the things we discuss at home with our friends and family. When I watch someone we follow I want to learn something new about them. I have liked all the other podcasts. I found this one little uninteresting. 1 topic was stretched a little too much. No new point really made or discussed. Waiting for the next one.
If an organisation does not have a policy in place for its women employees taking period leave then it wouldn't hurt the prospects of women being hired because the women employees will not be entitle to it and if the organisation is considerate enough to make such a provision which will be awesome will not hold it against the potential women employees because it has made that provision for a reason in the first place. So I dont know how will it affect the possibility of women being hired?
maybe because when one company does something like this, other companies might come under pressure that they have to do this too. For publicity, internal demands or whatever. Then there comes a chance that they might prefer a guy over a girl.
"Life will give you many opportunities to not be an asshole. This is one of them. Take it!" Daniel Fernandes responds to Barkha Dutt on period leave issue. The link is here: www.youthkiawaaz.com/2017/08/period-leave-a-response-to-barkha-dutt/
Comedy is an very personal thing and intent of the set matters the most. Hopefully people can get that. There is a SNL bit where Louise CK talks about peodaphilia and it is hilarious as his intent is against the same. Visual art form be it Bollywood or comedy is not evolved as the audience mindset matters..Sad
Well I dont know what will happen with this period thing.. but whatever an organization thinks, likes it or not..I do take the first period day off because otherwise I will die. And you know I end up doing more work from home where I have hot water bottle n chai, n shoes off n ac full blast, n bathroom access, than I would have been able to do writhing in my chair in office n putting on a smile (the lassst thing u want to do is smile). And I m in constant touch with office ppl on slack getting shit done. It is in organization's interest to have me be productive at home than pretending in office on period day 1.
The Radhika here is so different from Twitter version where she was posting disrespectful things.. And there have been repeated incidents.. That was enough for me to write her off..
NB Vlogs For me it's just that she is not funny. She is indignant n aghast but not funny. But I wish her all the best, she can just make her content funnier. N I m not talking about this video, have seen her in stand up.
Malvika Jain Fair enough. That's the most appropriate reason for not liking her stuff. And I'd agree with you. Definitely overrated. She could work on her content more.
In my opinion period leave is a good step not only for women but also for the organisation....Because satisfied employees are far more efficient and work better....
That Urooj comment is true for all the Amazon prime specials but for Biswa's and Kanan's. And credit to Daniel for mentioning comedy critics and especially Devang. His reviews are indeed incisive and reveal a real understanding of comedy keeping aside fandom.
To each his own brother. I watched the Sapan and Varun specials live. Didn't really feel the zing. Could be just me since comedy is so subjective and what's funny to me might not be funny to you.
+hitesh mahato...sapan was good, par itna achha nahi tha...but, varun's special was funny until that pretty fantastic guy walked out... also I liked kanan's special more than biswas's special purely because kanan has that setup punchline jokes...
Uh so? what does that statement supposed to mean? Siachin mein jawaan lad rahe hai? (Kunal Kamra quote) P.S. - You might want to check PWD website, roads are almost equally distributed between MCD and PWD.
How is it drifting away from the main point.....assuming that's what you meant by Kunal Kamra quote. You very cleverly equated the BMC controlled by the SS with Kejriwal and the MCD in Delhi......and as Manoj also pointed out...you conveniently missed the PWD in case of Mumbai. And roads are not equally distributed....the main connecting roads and elevated roads are under the PWD, almost all the other roads and streets come under MCD, which are almost 70-75% of the roads and these are the roads which are mostly in the worst shapes. I am not the here taking sides as i do recognise the systematic problem and since you are the one judging by the political sides, how does pointing the simple fact that MCD is controlled by the party you conveniently missed upon probably due to your confirmation biases puts me in the wrong here.
Last Sunday In Church The Preacher Was Sayin "The Lord Is In Your Front Pocket, The Lord In In Your Back Pocket, Please Come Up To The Alter And Pray"... I Ran Down, Got On My Knees And Prayed "Lord, If Your In My Back Pocket, Please Don't Eat My Hamburger!!!"
"Amount of Taxes we pay" - really last time i checked total direct tax was only paid by 4% of the population, not saying there is no corruption just that using tax as as argument is weak
Danny Radhika and Atul you guys are going great,God bless you all. Danny waiting for more to come. Hey the roads in Mumbai will improve only when you name the roads after the individual or the company who make it. Another 100 years or more for improvement of roads as still the number of deaths happened due to bad road is negligible unless a CM or a senior minister dies.I could have easily written PM but I want him to live more..only then there are Chance's of improvement...Cheer's
muje y samaj nhi aata h itne time yha rhne k baad or itna sab kuch dekhne k baad bhi tum logo ko is country s hope kaise h...1.3 billion idiots.. nothing will ever change in this fucking country... it'll be like this forever
