Decades of pent up anger over not being able to strike back at his bullies because he knows it would kill them, Clark finally got to let that out. I’m glad he didn’t hold back.
As much as I love these movies (and looking forward to Justice League) I wish they had brought it up more that after the Metropolis fight he's had to hold back
Me: Martha? Batman & Superman: Get him *they grab me push me down both punch me once* Batman & Superman at the same time: WHY DID U SAY THAT NAME.....hey jinx *fist bump* Me: "What the f-*they both punch me again* Batman:Did we just become best friends Superman:HELL YEAH
Yeah you can totally hear the pop as soon as Zod turns his head, as he’s closing velocity at many times the speed of sound. I love this movie. So much great detail.
He broke multiple Machs. If you notice. Each drum bang starting at 0:11, 0:35 ,0:37 and finally the last one is really close at 0:56 - is actually Supes breaking the sound barrier. Hurdling towards the antagonist 👍 nice little touch
I’ll never forget in the injustice comic when Batman sneaks into the fortress and see’s Clark’s parents and he’s immediately like “we are leaving NOW, if Superman thinks we are targeting his parents we ARE DEAD” I love that it’s just a rule you don’t fuck with Superman’s parents
Except he abandons his mother by leaving her alone with the 2 other kryptonians as he punches and screams at Zod. The writers just expect the audience to ignore this as the kryptonians just leave Martha alone for some reason rather than taking advantage of Superman's stupidity. Snyder expects his audience to ignore this fact cause oh look Superman is angry and punching stuff.
@@obredaanps3It's expected that zods troops would prioritise him then some human. Even if they are a valuable advantage over kal el what are they without their general
@Kzaxrtij Skather "And how do we deal with witches? AH! Death By Fire! Ah ah ah, you kill me, Martha dies, you fly away... Martha also dies. But bring me the head of the Bat, and Martha lives. When you arrived you had an hour... now its less." then walks away like a badass onto his own chopper while his cool piano theme plays on max.
I love how you can hear the sonic boom just before Clark saves his mom. Also, the crack in his voice as he plows into that silo really shows he was moving as fast and hard as he could. Amazing scene.
@@deadpooldan9862 still you cant hear the sonic boom untill he hits zod. what you hear is the sudden change in air density in front of supermans head which is highly compressed its called a shockwave. when shockwaves interferes constructively they create sonic boom.
I hate my mother. Reallyni dont have a mother. I was born of rape. Father was 21. And mother was 13. Alot of timea i wonder why im alive. I watch movies and escape.
@@epikboyvoid7076 No offense, Bruce, but you gotta let Clark have this one. C'mon, man. I know you hate him and he gets on my nerves too with all his "Truth, justice and American way" crap, but that was his MOM, dude. Don't tell me you wouldn't have done the same thing.
Loved this scene. Even though he's a super-powered alien, his human instincts kick in once he knows his mom is in danger. Such a human side to the Man of Steel. Also, that sonic boom just before he hits Zod? Perfection. Awesome movie.
Rules in life. 1) you don't threaten sup's mom 2) you dont kill john wick's beagle. 3) you don't ask the pattman "who the hell are you supposed to be?"
"Go to hell." That's a true mother; when an extremely advanced species lands two dropships filled with armed soldiers her immediate reaction is to tell them all to piss off and leave her son alone. Such a great scene.
@@joaniekeyser4036 Something along the lines of "Don't f*** with my wife or my son", or "My son is a hundred times the man you will ever be" is my guess.
@@thespiritofjonathanjoestar6805 This was the kind of film that should have earned a Billion on the box office but failed to meet that objective, the same applies with BvS.
Probably one of the most most single human moments seen in any comic book movie ever. I love how there are no tactics Clark employs, no reasoning, no build up. It's instant, unexpected, visceral and instinctive. This isn't superman. This is Clark Kent seeing his mother threatened and seeing red. It's the boy inside thinking: *"It doesn't matter who he is. He is threatening mom. HIT HIM AS HARD AS YOU CAN!"*
Still, this is a bad scene. Not because he lashed out at zod, I can get behind that, but because he threatened the lives of dozens of people by blowing through buildings and destroying property. Superman would never do that, Clark would never do that.
@@Khkh-bv5gf Uh, we talking about the same superman who regularly bashes through walls instead of using the door like a normal person? The same Superman who causes $20,000 in property damage to a jewelry store to save maybe $5,000 in diamonds? This is PEAK Superman
@@Khkh-bv5gf 1st day as Superman so you’re wrong. 🤷🏽♂️ He literally is learning his powers and limitations. The fact that you still can’t understand that after zack and said it is sad. Because this is a different superman too. Superman has killed in the comics and be reckless. He’s done it in TAS too. Sooooo you’re wrong
I'm pretty sure all those years of built-up frustrations at not being able to fight back against his bullies finally reached the surface in that moment.
0:59 absolutely in love with that piece of music that starts up as Clark bull rushes Zod and carries him off. It immediately makes you feel the fury that he feels. Not only that, but it suits the pure speed and brute force that he’s using to defend his mother.
@@luma8769 he is unexperince with his powers but no one in there right mind runs like that. And shy is flash lightning blue. I hated it. I like the traditional gold or yellow.
My mother died 3 years ago, And it still pains me to this day. More than anyone can possibly believe. This scene reminds me that if Anyone Had ever tried to touch her, I'd kill them. I'd destroy the world before I'd see her hurt. His Rage is Raw and Instinct. Fully believable.

Clark Kent was still learning. Even though he had his suit and cape he wasn't Superman yet. I love that he lashed out like a human would. He is the pinnacle of what humans can be. Starting from flawed individuals to the beacon of hope.
Imagine if they had Batman from 2022 and this Superman meet, they would be two rookies who are still quite new to the super hero gig, and has to learn the balance of Heroism and Normality Oh, and Wonder Woman would be the big sister of the three
@THEGOD2937 dude I wish I could get inside Snyder's head and figure out what he was thinking for a handful of idiotic scenes. I genuinely enjoyed a lot of Man of Steel and The Snyder cut, but they both had multiple scenes that utterly ruined the characters. This was one of them. Clark just destroyed multiple buildings and blew up a gas station, no doubt killing more than a handful of civilians. I hate that all reason went out the window for the sake of a "cool scene." Even if attacking Zod like that was consistent with his character, he certainly would have had enough sense and control not to take the battle directly to Main Street and risk the lives of his friends and old acquaintances. Hate it.
@@willalexander4836 mental flexibility. People know superman is based on comic books, but still can have independent characteristics one that is rooted in reality.
Why the destruction? 1. It's Superman's FIRST FIGHT. Like, the first. Every hero that has unleashed their power the first time around had it rough. Morally, or just power related. Pick up a damn comic book, damn. 2. They threatened his effn mom, the only family he has left. No one does that! 3. THEY THREATENED HIS MOM!
If you pay more attention, you can see that superman tries to take the fight far from the city. When he fails, he tries space. Superman really did care about destruction. He just couldn't save people while Zod was hunting him.
***** all he said was this isn't English class and you told him to fuck off and did you really need to correct his grammar? again the only triggered person here is you
A lot of people criticize Supes for too much destruction, but look at the kind of guys he fights all the time hand to hand... What choice does he have??
I love that even with all of Zods military training and experience, he has no idea what to do when he loses his helmet. Great home field advantage on Clark’s part.
0:55 breaks the sound barrier right before he attacks Zod.All those years of NEVER being able to hit anybody back, so much pent up rage and right here he’s releasing it all to protect the only thing he has left on Earth, his Mother. Might not look all that powerful but if he did those same punches to a building he would be demolishing them in one blow.
@Fred Gusta Ya, but they probably knew that killing her was pointless, as she would die when zod terraformed the planet. They were more focused on protecting Zod.
I guess I was busy watching him let those buildings fall on folks and allowing the gasoline truck explode in that building, I did see him save the helicopter pilot but there were others in the chopper besides him and it crashed.
And he let his father die to protect his secret but he outted himself to a reporter because she was hurt. I guess family is family but the chance to smash. . .that goes to the front of the line.
7 лет назад
pattimcb31 I guess you never rad War of Supermen. He couldn't save father without exposing himself, and Joe Kent didn't thought that he was ready to carry a world on his shoulders at this time (actually that's exact statment Kents gave to him in Superman#1, and in Birtright Joe Kent was actievely against Clark becoming Superman). It was just one reporter that tracked him instead of crowd that will spread, and he didn't outted himself to her he explained whole situation for her. Building that collapsed because of gasoline was mostly empty (they actually started to evacuate whole city), even if not he can't lose Zod out of his sight because he will kill a lot more people. Actually other pilots are survived, did you watch movie?
There are golden rules in the DC universe: 1. Laugh at the Joker's jokes. 2. Do not give the Joker any dishes. 3. Don't make Amanda Waller angry. 4. Don't underestimate Batman. 5. Don't do anything that will make Alfred take a shotgun. But among them there is the most important rule, the UNSPOKEN rule: do not threaten Superman's parents.
MY GAS STATION~Owner of the gas station.Imagine if the gas station was in his family for generations, then when you finally get it, Superman destroys it.
After being imprisoned and drained of your strength, gaining it back minutes before and having to save someone you care about from a fall from orbit, only to realise the monster responsible for all of it is going after your mother, and hearing him hurt and threaten her as you get closer - calm is the last thing on his mind. It's easy to pick apart when you aren't in the situation. Also, ideally it would make sense that the soldiers would kill or hurt Martha. However, Clarks saving grace was that these Kryptonians functioned as a military hierarchy and their commander was just yeeted away. Unless Zod gave his Sub-Commander (Faora) authority over the situation, their primary objective is to deal with the threat that Kal-el poses to their leader.
For people unfamiliar, the reason the silo exploded is that the grain particulates have a higher surface area than a solid mass which allows them to oxidize more easily. Colloquially it’s called a grain fire and they’re dangerous
RIVARAPTOR LMAO dragon ball evolution is a joke and DOES NOT COUNT. goku in high school......are you kidding me movie makers. that was a disgrace and an insult to dbz. even the voice of krillin says it. lmao
this scene really shows how human he has become, even someone as mild mannered and cool headed as Clark will go completely feral if someone threatens their mum!
KyranSparda yea but since Clark was raised by humans it’s also fair to say that his qualities and love for his mother are more human than that of a person that was raised on Krypton
@@KyranSparda The Kryptonians in this movie aren't clones. They were artificially birthed by machines. Clarks birth was the only recent natural birth in Kryptons history
He was so mad he didn't even stop to consider that this was the first time something had taken a hit from him. Anything less durable than a Kryptonian would have been dust and ashes
I can’t believe this was over two years ago, I wanna go into detail with this. Zack Synder followed the comic book aspects of the DC Universe. No Batman doesn’t kill, but every director have their vision and he had a good and valid reason to kill. Whether you like it or not some DC characters have dark stories and background. If you consider MoS to be dark then you are missing the point of the story or even the whole trilogy. Kal-El being human. That number no matter what choices you make, make sure it’s the right one that won’t affect others or yourself, two no matter how people view you, always stay yourself and be the good to the world and let others see and follow, and last be the hero that is needed in the world because there’s too much darkness that follows it. Zack humanized Superman.
Unless of course you're dealing with a crazy red-headed Marc Zuckerberg who's obsessed with proving you're no hero by forcing you to fight another billionaire dressed as a bat to the death. 🤣🤣🤣 JK, this would be my reaction too.
This clip showed how powerful and destructive a loving and caring son can be when his mother is harmed. They were many times powerful than Clark but he kicked Zod's butt without even thinking a second time.
People says that Kryptonite is his weakness. In the way I see it, it's his heart. Man, his patience and kind were boundless. The second he throws that away, you better hide in the very corner of universe or else he'll make you understand what is feels like to be a helpless rabbit
People who complain about the destruction need to understand this concept: In real life, say you get into a fight inside your house. There are objects surrounding you like furniture, windows, kitchen appliances, glass, etc. Chances are that in a scuffle, you're either going to throw your enemy into these obstacles or get yourself tossed into them because you're simply not in control. That doesn't mean you WANTED to break your grandma's china collection or smash up your windows or break tables and chairs, but it HAPPENED because you're in a fight and you're focused on other things like your own life as opposed to worrying about your possessions. Now magnify that x1000 since you have the power of flight, speed, strength, etc. and one hit from an opponent can send you soaring backwards for miles completely out of your control. With that in mind, like a brawl in a bar or a house, things are going to get destroyed. Doesn't mean you WANTED it to happen, but it happened because you were focused on the fight and not the environment.
These are also the same people that praise the Fast and Furious movies! Man of Steel: crashes through a 7/11 Fans: omg the city is destroyed. They don't care about the city! Fast and the Furious: truck carries an entire vault with a chain down a highway, crashing and turning into buildings and other cars Same fans: omg awesome, who cares about anyone else in the movie!
Red Thorn If you get in a fight with someone and people die, you and the person you're fighting are both responsible for those deaths, whether you want it or not. That's called manslaughter, and superman is responsible for at least a few thousand deaths by the end of this movie. And I don't wanna hear "he couldn't help it, he's too powerful to not destroy stuff" yes he could've helped it. Firstly if he hadn't been on earth, the kryptonians never would've came to earth in the first place, so superman is literally endangering the whole planet just by being there. If an alien ever came to earth and brought a whole bunch of his species that starting tearing earth apart looking for shit, I don't care if the one alien is good or not, I'd want him and all the other aliens of the damn planet.
Exactly how could Superman have "helped it" as you claim? He IS too powerful to not destroy stuff. It's completely different circumstances to normal people because his power is magnified to the tenth level. I just said that if you get into a fight with someone, you unwillingly destroy property. And then in the same vein, those that get into car accidents for instance and kill someone (manslaughter) don't necessarily TRY to do it unless they're psychopaths. And again, how could Superman have helped it? First off, Superman being on Earth wasn't even his fault. I hardly think you can blame a freaking INFANT for being sent to a planet when he doesn't even have the brainpower to consent to such a decision. And it's not like Superman can leave either. Where would he go? How would he get there? It was literally only a few days that he learned how to defy gravity before Zod came to Earth and even though Superman shows that he's capable of leaving Earth's atmosphere, there's nothing that indicates he's capable of deep space travel at this early stage. Secondly, how is Superman responsible for "THOUSANDS" of deaths? 95% of the damage caused was thanks to the terraforming. During the Metropolis battle, 1 building was completely demolished (Wayne Tower - but most of the employees evacuated as seen in BvS), 1 building defaced, a parking garage collapsed and the rest of the buildings were smashed, but still intact. And as for the Smallville fight, yes, Superman took it into town, but the place is called "Small" ville so at the very least, only a few dozen people could have actually died during the scuffle. You'll also remember that a lot of the damage to the military was pretty much out of Superman's hands as well. Either way, people die because of the immense power being dealt with. It's the same deal in ANY superhero story - be it The Avengers or Superman.
Sergio Garza dumbass? How did he teach him? It took kal years to master that shit. You sound like one of those people who abandon logic when they watch DC movies
Because it was a plot device. There was no reason, they just needed Zod to be at a moment of weakness, then he needed to get over it. Zod WOULD have needed years or month at least to overcome this, but the screenwriters figured that would be too long.
Thubelihle Zondi Yes. Why? Because Superman himself grew up on Earth and still had to grow into his powers. Zod? He walk in, is fazed by this shit, and just walks it off like it was just a gust of wind? That is some god damned bullshit.
I think it's worse than threatening a wife but I don't have a wife although I do have a girlfriend I've been with for a year if someone laid a hand on her like that they'd be bleeding and bruised if someone did it to my mum then hell can have mercy on their soul because I won't. You can have multiple wife's and partners throughout your life but you'll only ever have one mum who brought you into this world raised and cared for you since you were born.
I absolutely love how they portray the speed & power in this film. Like the part when Superman is fighting the female kriptonian, her speed and power is incredible.
Just a side note. Amazing how they're just getting super strong and yet can control themselves so easy. Imagine going from normal to this and NOT snapping Martha's neck. Not overjumping the barn by like a mile.. :P
The DORUK Yea I agree they wouldn't lose their minds. But they woudn't have ANYTHING close to this kind of precise control. They literally just woudn't know how strong they are so couldn't act accordingly until they did.. Just.. These little things in movies that can really add to or break down a movie. LOTR really strived for the little things like this..
pendragonshall They're used to it. This isn't the first time they've been to other planets. They said in the movie they colonized alot of planets during expansion so its safe to assume that Zod being a General would have trained on and visited other planets before and can control his abilities.
This is probably my favorite scene of all time. So emotionally powerful. One man threatening your mother while the other racing to save her. He must have force dragged zod for 3 miles.
