My company used to (pre-Covid when we were in the office) have quarterly meetings where they introduced the new hires and asked them to "tell us a bit about yourself". My contribution? "I don't like speaking in front of groups".

After the Christmas holidays, we had a team meeting and my manager wanted everyone to start off by telling all the amazing/fun/exciting things that happened during their holidays. I don't lead a very eventful life. I like to sit at home reading books, playing video games or watching movies or go out with friends playing TTRPG's or just talk and laugh so when it was my turn I really didn't have anything to contribute to the conversation 😅

My department had its second new hire in the last 3 months or so, so our staff meeting included the whole "Tell everyone about yourself" nonsense. I was pretty well over it, so my thing was, "I'm Tom and my 3 favorite things are long walks on the beach, poking dead things with sticks, and touchy-feeling workplace ice breakers." And nothing else. It didn't go over well, haha.

My dad’s company was a fan of doing “two truths and a lie” in team building/ice breaking scenarios. His go-to was “I’m an Eagle Scout, I’m a Girl Scout, and I’m a talent scout.” Which is fun b/c of the theme, but also in addition to having been an Eagle Scout in high school, he actually was registered as one of my girl scout troop’s leaders. (Not enough of our moms were willing to be involved. Which is fine b/c they def would not have taught middle-school girls how to start fires and chop wood lol)
