It’s funny how something so simple or silly will hook onto the algorithm and just take off. I think a lot of people are starting to recognize how important it is to own what they buy. Over the past Few years I’ve been pretty much rebuilding my Steam library on GOG. If I’m going to buy something digital I’d rather buy it and own it.
I feel the load times on chrono trigger and not knowing till after you got it. I bought that ps1 version at a con a few years back. I never played it but wanted it for my collection. Found out later about load times
I like you style of videos , idk why it reminds me of classic youtube with such simple videos towards the topic. The algorithm bring me here bc I watch videos of ps vita mod
it was a great video man. I think it was only a few days after the video was uploaded that the link didn't work anymore. That's a pretty cool thing to be able to brag about "square stopped selling ps1 games on their site because of me"
it's cool to brag that their video alerted a bunch of scalpers to buy all of the stock? because if you check ebay, you can clearly verify that's exactly what happened lol
The PS1 version of Chrono Trigger and FFVI were fine to me. I've played both games on SNES (and Chrono Trigger on DS as well) and had no problem playing all the way through them on PS1
Hey man, I saw the last video and immediately subscribe, I see when someone has potential, this is why I support you. Hope you find some new good videos ideas and keep or even enhance the quality of the video (not digitally). To the last part of THIS video, I think as you said most people mistake it for the PS2. Because you could play PS1 games on the PS2 and maybe this is what all the confusion cause 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah LGR has started a buying hype. And he saw your video. ;) I bought the whole "Silver Disc" set. Couple of years ago. After i saw the Website from that PS1 Collector about the SquareEnix Silver discs. Btw. Chrono Trigger PS1 you must play on an PS2 with fast load enabled. It cuts the Loading times to something like 60-70% (little bit more than half) from the original Loading times on a PS1. Its ok like that. Not great but better
well no... LGR stated really clearly in his video that he had seen this guy's video and bought it... and then went to look at the listing later while making his video and it had already sold out so... LGR might have gotten this guy some views, but he certainly didn't start a "buying hype." the algorithm took care of that.
I grew up in Mexico in the mid 2000s and I use to buy a lot of ps1 games in the flea market for 10 pesos which was 1 dollar back then. And they were silver not black disc
The black disc thing reminds me of Nintendo DS games. Some games have written "Nintendo C01-01" above the pins while others don't (just a bunch of letters and numbers). I used to think that when it has the Nintendo over the pins it would be a pirate copy but it seems there are a bunch of original copies that included that at the beginning, and you have to address other details to find it's a counterfeit or not.
I'm was born in Iraq and lived there until 10 years ago. I remember my uncles playing on a PS1, but technology was way behind in Iraq back then, so they had the Playstation 1 around 2005/2006 and i was only 4 years old at the time. I never saw a black PS1 disc, because the original discs were way too expensive and people wouldn't be able to buy them. That's why only silver discs were available to purchase. 10 years ago, and even now still, you can find a lot of copied Xbox 360 games, because they only cost about $0,70 instead of the original prices. Half the time the discs don't even work, but for that kind of price, it's to be expected. Finding original copies of games is very hard, because people won't buy them, so shop owners don't bother trying to sell them. Kind of the same situation as the old consoles.
I'm from Norway in which all games here are the pal versions. I did have a ps1 from when i was a kid in the 2000s, but most of the games were pirated copies. A few of them were legit ps1 games. These being Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot and Porsche Challenge. They were black discs. I've did in the later years buy some more games such as Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider and Gran Turismo 2 and they were also black discs. Silver topped ps1 games in Europe are what is called Platinum which are the pal equivalents of Greatest Hits.
I have most of those games you mentioned in the video and they ALL have black bottoms whether it’s the original print or Greatest Hits. I can send you pics if you need. I had a PS1 when I was a kid, never in my life seen a silver bottom disc. Some Greatest Hits have silver TOPs as you mentioned. So it’s def a Mandela Effect or people just don’t remember or it was just different for other countries. USA it was always black discs original and Greatest Hits.
Seems like they removed the filter option for ps2 but it seems like they are still for sale? Try this link: store.na.square-enix-games.com/en_US/product/281337/kingdom-hearts-ii-ps2
