A lot of positive reviews about the Insta360 AcePro. Destroying the Gopro 12 and DJI Action 4 in low light. But these people were sent the product early and can't be trusted. I finally got my hands on one and was shocked at it's performance vs the DJI Action 4. Ace Pro honest review.

They should have included a close-up focusing filter since it is geared toward a vlogging camera or a firmware option to choose close-focus or Vlogg mode.

Unneccessary user error. You don't get a close-up focusing filter because the proper way of filming yourself on the Ace Pro is to rock that 15ft selfie stick and use the 2x punch-in to 4k to achieve the perfect result. Obvi! 🙄

The reason I like your videos is because you use the cameras like a normal person would. Not everyone has a studio with perfect lighting and amazing post processing. Most people just want to record, which is what you do, and thats what i appreciates about you

nice video. At first though, I was positive I was going with the ace pro as how sharp it was showing at a distance, you could read licens plates fine. Then the close-up came and DJI was sharper. How did you get a closeup filter ? I cant seem to find any on amazon for DJI

Is the ace pro can detect external mic with usb type c connector or it only use with mic jack? just like DJI action it can detect a 3rd party external mic as long as the connector of the receiver is usb type c.

I returned my ace pro because when I’m out metal detecting and using my chest mount my GoPro 8 is way better for close up shots than the ace pro, when I’m looking at the coin I just dug up. Question, what is better at about 10” away the Action4 or GP12. Looking to upgrade.

Haha! Yeah right! He’s extremely biased and deletes replies that don’t go along with his biases. For example, this morning he said there are no filter attachments available, contrary to what I have been saying and to provide a link if there are. Well, I DID provide a link to filters/lens covers, etc being sold on Amazon for the Ace Pro and wouldn’t you know, it mysteriously disappeared! I resent it several times with all of them disappearing. So, he’s most likely reporting them as spam to have them deleted. I have zero respect for anyone who cannot accept a narrative contrary to his. I’m probably wasting my time because he will report this too to silence me. However, perhaps a few will see this before he gets it deleted. There ARE vendors selling lens protectors/filters for the Ace Pro on Amazon.

Hello, is the close focusing filter available to buy for the DJI Action 4 or is it a DIY thing? If it's a DIY thing could I use a 52mm and make a mount or will this do things to the edges of the image? I've seen a 72mm Diopter & 3D printed mount, but the edges were very blurry. THANK YOU. I've bought the insta360 pro ace, but I'm hoping I can play with the settings and make something somewhat pleasent. 😎

In the beginning I liked the DJI but I watched the episode on my old TV and old Chromecast, and they were both perfectly fine, the image is so degraded through compression and my old electrics that it doesn't matter. Fun and usability should be the deciding factors

I disagree. But I don't own either and I'm not particularly invested either way. Still researching. Colours look better on the left imo. It's not real 8k. And probably why you can't zoom in 8k. But good digital zoom on 4k I guess. Low light looking good on the AcePro. I need the best under judder.

It's a great camera, it matches the iPhone 15Pro main camera in light gathering and depth of field, but has a more useful 20mm f/5.6 full frame equivalent for vlogging (vs 24mm f/6.3 on the iPhone), plus amazing gimbal stabilisation.

@@DigiDriftZone The main lens on the iPhone is more like a 28-30mm when you turn on digital stabilization. You don't need that on the Pocket 3 since it has a gimbal, plus digital stab suck in low light. I'd say the Pocket 3 is a far better solution as a vlogging camera.

There are videos on how it handles low light, as it's strength is in that mostly. I think you need several cameras anyways when doing reviews because of angles. Also Casey is not the best in color grading, kindergarten kids color grade better :D

For that it would be good, filming away from you and everything in focus in the distance. I don't know about battery powered, I never use cameras like that accept the bmpcc og.

True enough as I have been looking at adding more cameras to the filming process but right now I just have the one chin mount since my whole focus is just the first ride experience vs long term reviews at this point. Only 3.5k subs at the moment but I'm enjoying the process. Always looking to make it better and I guess I need to buy another camera lol. Take care

You should be looking at other reviews too, not just his opinion. He seems to have already made up his mind. Plus, action cams in general are not designed for close-up blog-type shots due to the fixed focusing. The Ace Pro does very well for action shots like motorcycle riding, and its low light capabilities are the best so far according to the majority of the reviews I’ve seen, and these are not from fanboys who were given free Ace Pros. If you need it for blogging too, there are third-party vendors who now sell an adapter for filters. The only factor that might sway you to the Action 4 is that it’s cheaper. I wouldn’t even consider the GoPro 12.

Hello, it seems that from minute 8, when you set the camera to standard, DJI has more focus, both close up and far away, and it is better than Ace (which did not seem like it at the beginning of the video). I wanted to ask you if the fact that the background is softer in clarity is because the DJI has the filter on, and without that filter then the background focuses more clearly, is that correct? The truth is that the DJI looks better so in the first minutes of the video, it seems to have correct sharpness both near and far. I also wanted to ask you if DJI has to choose sharpness levels, and if this improves, or is it always a very soft background image? thank you so much!!!

The problem with the Insta360 sensor (what Gopro talked about the 1" sensor and the focusing distance) is that the FD is further away so you always are out of focus and your background is sharp, so it does not look good for logging or any close-up extreme sports recording... fail for now.

Have both the Osmo Action 3 & 4 and both of mine suffers from soft footage in background. It is more noticable in the corners and often gets worse in low light. It is the same with stabilisation off as well as thought that was causing it.

without a question you are right, the pocket 3 is so much better than these cameras... BUT sometimes you need an action cam that is rugged so it's good that dji has a quite good action 4. it's great that my trio of the pocket 3, action 4, and mini 4 pro drone from DJI all shoot 10 bit D-Log M for easy color grading.

The insta360 looks much better when using the extra lens compared to DJI, you could make a video only comparing those. Also I think those lenses are good for vlogging but it won't work in my mountain bike or surfing days. Also, im stocked to see that there is no extra cropping when you went into high stabilization, is it the same when comparing 4K30 and 4k60? it would be the first camera to achieve that and I would be sold

As someone who will use this as a dashcam mounted on my motorcycle helmet, It looks like the Insta's focus being further away would help with reading license plates in the unfortunate event of an "incident". Helps tremendously with my decision thank you!

Are you shooting the action 4 in d log m mode? From what I’ve seen in the standard mode, the objects in the background are all over sharpened and fuzzy. But yeah i much prefer the colours and exposure and audio of the action 4.

Something weird was happening with the AcePro focus or stabilization. You could see it around your eyes. It appeared to soften and then sharpen, of slightly blur and then unblur. It was more obvious when you were moving . The close focus filter appeared to help.

Hi, I bought the ACEm but I have a problem to report. If you "reflect" with polarized glasses to make a vlog in the mountains or at the sea, the screen turns completely black (which doesn't happen with a smartphone, Apple Watch, or DJI Pocket 3, to name another camera). I noticed that in all the reviews, even in blinding snow or against-the-light at the beach, no one was using glasses. Have you noticed this too, do you think it can be solved with some kind of film? Let's say that vlogging in the snow while skiing or at the beach without glasses isn't ideal. Paradoxically, the front control screen doesn't have this issue. I've written to Insta360 but they haven't responded yet.

Gots to use a close-up filter (or not) on BOTH cameras for comparison. The sky detail on the Ace pro was amazing. I thought the Ace Pro in the studio, with the close-up filter, looked great (but I have red/green colorblindness). The Ace Pro deos REALLY well in low light - that's a major advantage if a person needs/wants that.

I've stopped pigeon holing it as an action camera, to me it's clearly a vlogging camera that needs a close focus filter. In that mindset and with a close focus filter on it actually looks pretty good. Low Light is a scary good too when it comes to stabe. I'd like to see angry school Mum next time.

@@derTommy Well, it’s probably got the fastest camera to social media workflow whilst looking great in terms of colours and stabe in all situations, bar the close focus. So in terms of vlogging that’s pretty good, I’ll go into more reasons and findings in my future videos. That’s why the hell.

Though I don't always leave comments, but here I wanna say, keep this natural-real-honest review style my guy! I appreciate you did random test by running then stop all the sudden. And complaining about the zooming feature. All the other reviewers just did basic by the book kind of review, but yours actually the closest to real life usage that I'd be really concern about with this cameras. In this economy, I'm not that privileged to waste money, so I would love to know if my purchase would last me a long time. Thanks again man!! Appreciate it!!

I had to focus adjust my DJI Action 3. Maybe the Insta will look good and sharp once adjusted....but yeah shame it comes out of the box like that!

Big DJI fan (and GoPro hater!). I wouldn't buy one but to be honest in the first shot I thought the 360 looked more natural. Then again I'm a pasty faced Mick. 😊

I have the X3 and I have to say Insta360 is very customer focused and will push out updates to address concerns in the marketplace. I think time will tell with regards to this product as it’s just out the gates.

I have an X3 and a Sony FDRX3000, an older action cam that Kasey seems to really like lately. I prefer the X3 though.

Yeah apart from the simple task that people have been requesting for about 2yrs; allowing you to put music over a video in the insta360 studio on a mac which you can do on the mobile app version on your iPad or iPhone 🤦🏽‍♂️.

@@BassManStrikes GoPro has more than 1600 patents granted and I bet the camera is one of them. It's strange that Insta360 didn't took a different approach with a removable lens for a action camera. The aftermarket kit is a great solution for replacement and of course they advice against this :)

I probably prefer the DJI action 4 because the resulting images are more authentic, even though they lose in low light, but the results are very smooth. insta360 Ace Pro Image quality prioritizes brighter background focus and it is possible that if you record at night with left and right movements it will look broken. It's different from the DJI Action 4, if you record at night the video results will still be smooth. The lens glass on the Insta360 Ace Pro cannot be replaced and on the DJI 4 it can be replaced if it gets scratched. 10:29
