probotboyxxx yes, today Brian is a shitty douchbag which gives babies herpes, only thinks of women’s and won’t step to help unless something will happened to him in return
That part is the lynch pin of the song, even though it only pops up twice. Not only does it sound wonderful, but it enhances how the other parts sound.
There's been a lot of creative fatigue in Family Guy's studios that the staff were tired and ran out of ideas. That happens a lot in many shows where changes are happening. I do get that a bunch of people want old-school stuff because they think it looks brilliant and sometimes they don't want new stuff to happen but you gotta face the changes that happen.
With Seth I’m not his biggest fan but I admit I’d probably have liked him more if he kept to broadway instead of Hollywood. With rare exceptions I have nothing but positive things to say about his musical numbers.
Fun fact: this is the the only family guy song that actually got a reward while others only got nominated none of the others actually one except this one and it's my favorite family guy song to
this was really a beautiful song, especially the parts "no one really knows my dear lady friend, just quite how it all will end" and "but you can forgive the world and its flaws, and follow me there because, you still got a lot to see" really brings out a message i loved these first seasons, had a lot of meanings
The earliest seasons of family guy were extremely well-thought out and meaningful. With this episode I couldn't help but shed tears at seeing two lost loves who finally find eachother, because that was what made Brian depressed from the start of the episode: he wanted to find that one person who would understand him and that was Pearl, and Pearl herself hid from society for 30 years because no one understood her dream of being an opera singer. The end of this episode was truly beautiful and heartbreaking.
It still is. It is December 30, 2020 today. This song still makes me cry. I came of age in 1971, so I was still a child in the 60s, but I remember Alan Shepherd orbiting the earth, then Kennedy being elected. "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" That speech still gives me chills. Then he was murdered by Oswald. Then RFK Then MLK. Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. In 71 , I asked what I could do for my country, and joined the Navy. I am still remembering almost every day I was in. The computer revolution came along, and this nerd was hooked. But, as I said at the beginning, this song still makes me weep for the lost innocence of the world. Happy New Year, Earth. And to all of you lifeforms inhabiting you, too.
Gotta love how Brian went from falling in love with a woman who's actually a senior citizen to being embarrassed and disgusted by dating a woman who's only 50.
I love this episode, it takes the topic of depression in a straight forward way and it’s honestly probably my favorite episode of Season 3. This song is also phenomenal and apparently won the first Emmy for Family Guy and Seth McFarlene.
its actually not his normal voice..its deeper than his normal voice...his normal speaking voice is higher..he lowers it for brian..puts a lisp for stewie..and talks out the side for peter.
this episode came out in early 2002 "for movie stars to play the white house game" seth macfarlane is a man who knows shit and has had a massive impact on our culture
This episode MADE the character Brian my favorite. Before they got caught up with making him the liberal atheist buzzkill of the show, and long before he became the biggest hypocrite, Brian was the voice of reason on this show. Him and Stewie were great together, too.
They ruined the characters, peter used to be stupid but innocent, lois was a great caring mom who always gave the best advice, stewie was ofc an evil genius but the show writers didn't forget he was still a baby, so he did stupid things and would complain potty training, playground, toys ect, and meg wasn't hated, her parents loved here and would do anything for her, like the university or megs nudist boyfriend episode they were protective and cared for her. And peter had enetire episodes of just him and chris having father/son moments, and him teaching him to hunt and camp, now all the characters are vile and disgusting, peters a toxic and destructive person, lois is a complete manic, meg gets killed by her parents every single episode it all just doesn't feel the same...
This episode is actually quite harrowing. If Seth did get on that plane that crashed landed the north towers on 9/11 this would of been the very last episode ever of Family guy as I assume they would of ended family guy as a respect for Seth. This episode aired Jan 17th 2002 and 0:45 you can see the twin towers.
This comment doesn't make sense for several reasons. Most notably that this wasn't the last episode to air before or first to air after 9/11 nor was it the season 3 finale, there were episodes of the season that aired after it so I don't get the significance of this one when discussing Seth's near death experience, and also it takes about a year to make an episode of Family Guy, this episode and the rest of Season 3 had been finished around the time. The twin towers appearance was not in reference to 9/11 the episode was made before it happened. Fox just censored it after the attacks. I don't see how this ever could have been the "last episode" because of 9/11.
@@adewilson132 Episodes aren't made consecutively, Einstein. They're produced while others are being produced. Not one at a time. And yes, they can take up to 9 months to a year to be made. Not every episode can be made in a week like South Park. Seth MacFarlane has stated this himself. You are wrong.
“No one really knows my dear lady’s friend” I am in love with this tune Also the banjo before this lyrics really add the spices on the music Everything on this music is freaking awesome
I think this is my favorite episode from the show, followed by Road to Rhode Island. This episode managed to balance humor and touch your heart. I love this song and the virtual reality kit scene.
this episode is such a gem-- despite the reputation the show's gained, everyone agrees that this was family guy at its best. the original song sequences are one of my favorite parts of the show overall
I love this musical number. It’s my favorite of all time in this show. Seth has a gorgeous voice and that last note just, mm- I love. I do miss older Brian : ( he woulda been a catch.
"But you can forgive the world and it's flaws and follow me there because You've still got a hellova lot to see" What a beautiful lovely heartwarming optimistic lyric. Its speaking directly to the people of today on their smartphones and internet thinking world is a terrible place.
The lines” no one really knows my dear lady friend just quite how it all will end so hurry cause you’ve got a lot to see( makes me so emotional and happy at the same Time it’s pure genius)
Funny how Brian was a gentleman to Pearl (Season 3) and treated her with respect but was an utter asshole to Rita (Season 8). They were both older women he was romantically interested in, but there's such nastiness in later seasons for something that was considered okay earlier on. The Rita episode is named, "Brian's Got a New Bag", for God's sake.
See that episode really made me lose alot of respect for Brian. The whole episode he talks about wanting a smart, mature woman. He finally gets a one of a kind gal. FUCKING cheats on her with some dumb bimbo WHEN THE DAMN POINT OF THE EPISODE IS THAT HE HATES GIRLS LIKE THAT! AND GIVES A QUARTER ASS APOLOGY, AND HE GETS MAD FOR HER LEAVING HIM AND NOT PUTTING HER KEYS ON THE DAVENPORT!!!
I was born quite after 2002 but this is making me cry, damn. I know American Dad is known for it's level of musicality where Family Guy doesn't really dip itself in, but this song is really motivating, and now, quite nostalgic, or lol. I'm pretty sure only 50% of US households even had a PC at the time... and phones looking the way they do here.
@@Brand-New-Adventures Nope! I remember a few episodes, like when Stewie and Brian are stuck in a vault, for example. But most of my life Family guy has been not talked about and I only ever saw it on hotel TVs; Instead I saw basically every other show, like a lot of American Dad, Futurama, and The Simpsons.
@Soggycereal then might I suggest moving out of a small town, since I've been to multiple places where i hesr people talking about FG on the streets. Lol
@@Brand-New-Adventures I'm on the internet, none of that has to do with where I live, which is a moderate city anyways. The idea of people talking about Family Guy enough to be noticeable on the streets is silly considering that it's an old show that can barely cap at 1mil views these days, and IS it is spoken about online it's in negativity. But ignoring the factual numbers, that is only your experience and it doesn't negate mine.
@Soggycereal you keep telling yourself that kid. But recently the number of viewers have been increasing. Plus it's not "Silly" when you can even go to places like comic-on where multiple people come to see things like FG. and the only negative thing I see are the copy and pasting anti-fans. Lol Have a nice day. :)
It's a little sad to get a glimpse of the warmer, softer Family Guy that could've been. And it's not like the show had to sacrifice its edge to make it feel this good! There are still a ton of great jokes in this episode.
