the thing i loved about Piper was he was a likeable villan, no matter how much of a heel he was always likeable, to me it was his wink wink, i know you know but i'm still going to surprise your arse
Roddy has the best movie line ever. "I've come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bumble gum!" It doesn't get any better to personify a his personality.
Roddy was the real deal, he left home and lived on the mean streets of Vancouver, B.C., so, he had to be crazy and fight to survive! He’s a true legend of WWE! He was 15 and homeless, almost forgot to type this!
hulk hogan at airport yells at fans (kids) get out of his way. Yelling at anyone who tries to talk to him as he waits for the plane to board. rowdy piper walks in behind hogan picks up kid hogan told off and carries him to waiting area. rowdy shaking eveyones hand and takes kid to meet hogan and asks hogan to give kid an autograph. Hogan tells off piper and piper shrugs walks away asks for en paper and starts handing out autographs for 10 minutes. When planes boards both stop. thats difference between good wrestler and great. Rowdy heel in ring but nice guy irl with his fans
There are some genuinely nice guys out there and some very rotten ones too. I like to quote another wrestler, Al Snow, "98% of the wrestling talent should be in prison." Now that does not say much for quality of people that are or were in that business. Piper spent the first 15-20 years of his career driving across the country. Hogan spent a few years as well on the road but quickly moved onto flying.
Great story but is bull. Hogan is and will always be a great guy to his fans. Met him multiple occasions and was always the best. Not only that but Roddy was cool but he was the one at an airport who would flip u off especially when he was a heel. It was only after he mad it big in movies did Roddy Piper calm down a bit to his fans. He was legit stabbed by a fan so.......
Roddy Piper (1954 - 2015) age 61 and good actor in They Live (1988) Piper was great as color commentator with Gordon Solie on Georgia Championship Wrestling in early 1980s !!!!
It’s good to hear , from the guy that knows . I always liked Piper for all the reasons he said .the conformation of what I thought ,was true! And I wasn’t a wrestling fan in a big way , I just liked Piper. !
