in Sonic adventure 2 there are 2 storys you play through the hero story with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. then you have the Dark story with Eggman, Shadow, and Rouge. it basicaly lets you see what both sides are doing during the games events and when you beat both of those storys you unlock the Final story

So, I can give a VA fun fact that I learned after your reaction to the Hero Story. Eggman's VA is Alfred Coleman, who truly shines in all these videos. He...is actually not a voice actor, but a storyboard artist for a show called Unikitty, which is an animated spin-off of The Lego Movie.

18:00 just to explain the Pumpkin Hill joke besides been a level song from the game. In the video that Snapcube post about parts the whole recording section of the fandub, one of the voice actors couldn't stop singing Pumpkin Hill theme every time through all the recording section.

The hero and dark stories take place at the same time. Just through different points of view. So when the explosion happened outside the window with Shadow watching, that’s when Eggman shot Sonic out the airlock.

Honestly, if you just play through the main story, the Sonic Adventure games are really pretty short. If you know where to go, you can casually beat (not speedrun) the main story (not 100%) for each game in like 1 day each at most. The hardest part of Sonic Adventure 1, imo, is just figuring out where you need to go. I got both sonic adventure 1 and 2 and the DLC on steam during the winter sale for less than 5 bucks. I think it would be cool to see you play them blind.

Shadow isn’t faster than Sonic, quite the contrary actually. At most they are equals.

The weird purple guy who keeps appearing is Big the Cat. He was a playable character in the first Sonic Adventure game, but had no role in this one, but they still had the model, so I guess they wanted to use it, so cameos.

The haunted level Knuckles was in the Hero story is where Shadow is. That's Pumpkin Hill, but in the Dark Story, Shadow's level is called Rail Canyon, but it's still around where Pumpkin Hill was. You can tell by the mountain backgrounds looking the same and in the stage select map, they are next to each other.

So the Sonic games Sonic XD and the Sonic Adventures 2 have stories (or playable characters) that overlap one anther. In Sonic XD you could play Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Gama, and big the cat. Big was the worst level.

I’m pretty Shadow was originally killed in the end of Sonic Adventure 2, but he was such a well-liked character, that they just decided to bring him back in future entries in the series. Don’t quote me on that though, I’m not a dedicated Sonic fan. Definitely check out more of Snapcube’s vid. Penny and their crew always outdo themselves imo. The Sonic ones are probably their best, though I also liked their “Until Dawn,” one!

Before you move on maybe you should watch BTDubs Episode where it's sort of a Behind the Scenes of this specifically But you can skip that one If you want The next Sonic one they did is Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 but technically the next two prior to that were Sly Cooper and then Spider-Man PS4 it's up to you if you wanna watch those though

For how they time stuff so well, the timing's actually tweaked in post-production to line up better.

The basic storyline is Eggman awakens Shadow, who was frozen or something, and then tries to take over the planet, but in trying, he accidentally releases the dinosaur(which was actually the first attempt to make shadow) and so both side work together to prevent it from destroying the planet. Shadow was created as the Ultimate Life Form, meaning he's naturally immune to everything, including various cancers and such. The plan was to use his blood to cure Maria, and eventually the world, but the ARK blew up, Maria died, and Shadow was plunged to earth and frozen. He then sacrificed himself at the end there, but he was so popular with the fans Sega brought him back later, albeit missing his memories of this event and he tries to kill Sonic. yeah the lore is complicated. don't even get me started on the insanity that is Sonic 06

I will answer everything: Sonic Adventure 2 contains two different story modes. Hero mode is where you play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Dark mode is where you play as Shadow, Rouge, and Eggman. Maria is basically Shadow's best friend. She was killed due to G.U.N. shutting down Project Shadow, which was something that the Government commissioned Dr. Gerald Robotnik, Eggman's grandfather, and the old man you saw near the end. They wanted him to create the "ultimate lifeform". Maria was also succumbing to a disease with no known cure. So Gerald took the job, figuring that the lifeform's DNA could cure Maria. Unfortunately. When Gerald was locked up by G.U.N. he gave Shadow fake memories, and a need for revenge against humanity. That Purple Cat's name is Big the Cat. He's not really relevant to game. That Dinosaur thing is one of the prototypes of Project Shadow.

Pretty sure I'm the random facts moon guy lol Scientists think there is a solid core surrounded by a molten and semi-molten layers. Unlike earth though, there are no continental plates or giant liquid mantle so the quakes are rare... but do happen due to tidal forces and heat changes. On Earth though every Continent is a thin crispy wafer floating on molten and semi-molten Mantle, On the Moon it's reversed with thick dusty crust and a little warm filling... like a bad Donut.

The game is only difficult in how janky it can be, it doesn't have the best controls. The actual game story doesn't make that much more sense than this dub, but you can find videos of it out there for better context if desired.

Just so you know this is one of the greatest and most memorable stories of all Sonic games. I'm honestly not sure why they never do the Hero Side Dark Side story anymore since it was such a great way to explain Shadow's backstory plus it's nice to be the villain every now and then and see their perspective of things and actually gain empathy for them (Mainly Shadow)

that fat purple cat character that apears randomly and is never refered too is Big the Cat. hes basicaly a meme character in the sonic universe and in sonic adventure 2 hes an easteregg that you can find hidden in levels and sometimes cutsceens when you hold specific buttons (if i remember right)

So that bit about Shadow putting hot sauce on everything was actually a reference. In another video featuring conversations between the dubs Alfred told a story from when he was in school and during lunch a kid asked him for some hot sauce to put on his Twinkie because he claimed to put hot sauce on everything he ate, and so that bit made it into the dub.

If you want more, there’s a Sonic 06 fandub that’s around an hour and 40 minutes long, you could split it into two parts, and a sonic riders fandub which is a little more family friendly than the rest of em.

They did make it really short, but most of the game isn't too difficult. However, the final boss (the dinosaur thing) can be annoying. One thing you should know about sonic games, is that you can only die if you take damage without any rings and that you lose all your rings by taking damage. When you lose your rings, they drop next to you (max 20) so you can pick them back up if you don't take your time. The first phase of the final boss (before they go to space), there's only a few small patches of rings, and if you take damage it can be kind of hard to pick them back up. The dinosaur might push you away with its head or tail for example. The last 3 hits are very frustrating, because you have to climb up by hitting those floating balls, and those balls can also attack you by flying directly at you really fast like a bullet. Since you have to do that twice, I almost always get hit before I hit the "button." The very last hit of this phase changes gravity so everything floats at the height of the button (except rings), and those balls are all spinning around the button that you have to dodge. Its almost like an extreme Frogger. I almost always get hit here, sometimes twice, and you can't pick the rings back up after you get hit. So if I have rings, its about 50/50 shot of getting the last hit in. If I don't have rings, I almost always die. What happens very often, is that I get hit when delivering the second to last hit, and then I can't pick up anymore rings when it transitions to the last hit phase, where I almost always die since I don't have any rings. In the final phase where they are in space, the attacks from the dinosaur don't damage you, but they have a lot of knockback and are meant to stall you. You basically have a timer, you start with 50 rings, and lose one every second or so. If you damage him it switches to the other character and the rings reset to 50. Every hit, the beams get faster and come at you more often. In the last 1 or 2 hits, you have reduced starting ring counts. It seems so easy, but can be surprisingly frustrating/difficult.

Also Shadow didn't really die, he was Super while falling and is Nigh Invulnerable, he just suffers a TBI hence his more hostile and apathetic attitude in his game and is an Amnesiac then he lost access to Chaos Control and Chaos Spear, you get Chaos Control back when touching the Green Emerald in Westopolis and Chaos Spear when fusing with all Seven Emeralds for Devil Doom, like you dont have a choice to use firearms with exception of a few missions because you dont have access to CS anymore.

This game is absolutely absurd out of context XD I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to follow without it.

The plot of the game is quite long, since you have both the Hero and Dark stories, then the "True" story. So basically, to skip through most of it, when Eggman's grandfather shows up, it is explained that Maria (the blonde girl in Shadow's flashbacks) was killed along with his coworkers when he was trying to create the perfect lifeform to help humanity. The prototype for the perfect lifeform was the giant lizard you saw at the end, and the reason Eggman was with Tails is because both teams worked together to stop the space station from crashing into Earth, after everyone does their part, Sonic and Shadow team up to defeat the giant lizard, and after using their power to teleport the station away, Shadow comes crashing down to earth, which is why everyone looks gloom in the ending and why Sonic gave Rouge his inhibitor rings (that Shadow wore on his arms).

Definitely check out Snapcube’s take on the group’s “Sonic 06” dub. There’s much better flow in that game versus this one.
