"You Will Be Found" from the hit musical, Dear Evan Hansen performed by The U.S. Army Voices and United States Army Band, "Pershing's Own" at the Love and Light Concert, Schlesinger Hall 2020.
As a veteran: this is such a brave song to sing as a servicemember. We're often made to feel like we can't be vulnerable or open up about the pain we all feel on a daily basis. The fact that Army Voices did it such justice just means all the more.
@@williammoyer9536 before I ever joined a family friend who had signed up before 9/11 and was one of the first to deploy to that region unfortunately lost his fight. He made it home, clawed his life back together, and it still was not enough in the end. I'm a firm believer that saying stuff like this that might make us feel uncomfortable or "weak" is what saves lives like his. It helps us feel less alone. It's something we have to do for each other. We won't accept it from civilians even when they mean well.
As I sit and know my son is attending a funeral for a cadet who didn’t realize this, I’m struck by the fact that maybe we all need to extend the message further that people are not alone. #stopsoldiersuicide
You know what's actually sad? The soldiers you're protecting murdered, raped and covered up the killing of LaVena Lynn Johnson, a black woman and fellow military officer. She has still not gotten justice from the US military or the courts. Her parents are still fighting to have her story known. On top of that, vietnamese and korean women that were raped during the Vietnam and korean wars are also still being silenced by the US military. When will THEY be found?
@@jensnow6551 you're right. it has deep meaning when anyone sings it. that's how you know it's good writing. in the show it has a deep meaning to angsty teens in high school with social media. for a soldier, it might have deep meaning about being lost in battle on the edge of death or struggle when one of your brothers in arms may come and give you a hand. they're both fantastic sentiments. anyone's found sentiment in this song is valid.
@@cloudambient either you’re downplaying to make this version mean more which is dumb or you haven’t seen Dear Evan Hansen because it certainly meant more than angsty teens in high school with social media.
Here is my comment #2. This song is perfect for you guys to sing, because I'm a nurse, & this song reminds me of my patients, who are military vets suffering physically, psychologically & financially. It's heartbreaking to see these military vets suffer physically & emotionally. The stories I hear from these patients are heartbreaking as well.
Reminds me of vets and citizen who made going through pain. Physical mental. You know regular citizen suffer also. From PTSD and other mental.healt a d physical health so this song is for all
Hey Bryan & the others who sang this song! When you all discharge from the Army, & the pandemic is finally over, you guys have to be on the Broadway stage. Thanks for your service & you guys are singing superstars! Bravo! BTW...when you all make it on the Broadway stage, break a leg!
i understand their beautiful talent and enthusiasm in singing, but it's more presentational than broadway singing, and you actually have to be good in acting in order to perform broadway.... they're talented singers doe, but maybe not broadway singers
“When you need a friend to carry you, when you’re broken on the ground, you will be found.” Got goosebumps on this part esp considering the context of soldiers singing this and it could be a very literal interpretation. Well done!
as a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, this song hits home.... I knew that If something happened, someone would have come for me... no matter how dangerous - just as I would have for them. Very well done.
OMG!!!! That was absolutely amazing!! Right when I wished they'd used a small choir was when everyone came out and started singing those amazing harmonies! And that bass! Being impressed would be an understatement. These men and women did a phenomenal job I just want to shake every one of their hands (if we weren't in a pandemic that is)
I've been isolating myself for going on two weeks now. I don't worry about myself as much as I worry about all the people that get the Covid 19 and their recovery. God bless us all and keep us safe.
this makes me emotional because the trailer of the movie Connor took his life and so did my brother at a young age. As a 7 year old it’s hard to understand your parents when they say your brother will be gone forever. Now as a 11 year old I still have break downs because of it. I love the song, trailer, and all of it but thats what it reminds me of.
Immediately had me in tears. Knowing the song and how it fits into what kids go thru is one thing. Making the connection for our soldiers is another, powerful, meaningful message. Thank you to the poster and thank you to all of those who fight for us, sing for us, and live thru hell for us. Absolutely stunning. So well done.
@@gamechimp869 generalities are rarely accurate for the vast majority of the people you are referring to, do you have any idea how many people there are in the armed forces? And how many jobs they perform? They aren't all gun toting lunatics, some of them don't even go into combat, there's the doctors and nurses, and engineers, tech people, cooks, you name it, if there's a job that exists in the real world it also exists in the armed forces. Don't come on to this forum and spread hate, that makes you no better than the people you are ranting against (not denying they do exist, there are bad apples in Every barrel) that's like saying that all postal workers are crazy people
Even better than the Broadway & London versions ...and they are good. This is even more powerful thinking of how relevant these feelings can be to our military. Thankyou all!! 💓✌👏🙏
DEH has reached and touched so many lives. I feel it truly is a global phenomenon that has changed lives in numerous ways. Absolutely beautifully done, thank you for your service
Have you ever felt like nobody was there? Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere? Have you ever felt like you could disappear? Like you could fall, and no one would hear? Well, let that lonely feeling wash away Maybe there's a reason to believe you'll be okay 'Cause when you don't feel strong enough to stand You can reach, reach out your hand And oh, someone will coming running And I know, they'll take you home Even when the dark comes crashing through When you need a friend to carry you And when you're broken on the ground You will be found So let the sun come streaming in 'Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again Lift your head and look around You will be found You will be found You will be found You will be found You will be found There's a place where we don't have to feel unknown (Oh my god, everybody needs to see this) And every time that you call out You're a little less alone (I can't stop watching this video, seventeen years old) If you only say the word (Take five minutes, this will make your day) From across the silence your voice is heard Share it with the people you love (Repost, the world needs to hear this) (A beautiful tribute, favourite!) (I know someone who really needed to hear this today) (So thank you Evan Hansen for doing what you're doing) (I never met you Connor, but coming on here, reading everyone's posts) (It's so easy to feel alone, but Evan is exactly right-we're not alone, none of us) (We're not alone, none of us! None of us!) (None of us are alone) (Like, forward) Even when the dark comes crashing through When you need a friend to carry you When you're broken on the ground You will be found So let the sun come streaming in 'Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again If you only look around You will be found (You will be found) You will be found (You will be found) You will be found Out of the shadows The morning is breaking And all is new, all is new It's filling up the empty And suddenly I see that All is new, all is new You are not alone You are not alone You are not alone You are not alone You are not alone (You are not alone) You are not alone (You are not alone) You are not You are not alone (You are not alone) Even when the dark comes crashin' through When you need someone to carry you When you're broken on the ground You will be found! So when the sun comes streaming in 'Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again If you only look around You will be found You will be found You will be found You will be found! You will be found
Thank you for posting the lyrics... too many will never get to see this play, and without closed captioning, they may not "get" the lyrics. TY, ty, ty!
Amazing job! Despite the fact that I'm a veteran, I am an adamant pacifist and tend to dismay about the military/industrial complex. HOWEVER, on that golden day on that shore of the glassy sea, when we get to beat our swords into plowshares, I believe this is what the resulting next iteration of new earth will be like and sound like. Wow. Just freakin' wow! What an amazing sentiment for a song from one of the bands of our uniformed services! God hasten the day when singing in unison and communal pursuit is the 'order of the day.'
I don't know why people are trying to turn this into something other than people expressing themselves through an incredible performance of an incredible song.
I wish they had taken a slower tempo, but this is amazing! They sing really well and it's so satisfying to hear a whole orchestra performing this song. :)
@@eunjinshin9659 I just checked the Ben Platt recording, as well as many other Bway versions....the tempo taken here is exactly the same. This is the same problem we have in classical music...the tempi keep getting slower as time goes on because singers/instrumentalists try to be "expressive" and do it by slowing the tempo. MT and opera should go at the tempo of the text/language.
Have felt these emotions all my life, and so alone even though I have my daughter again in my life and just a few close friends. USN RET DESERT STORM VET N Chesterfield Virginia
Absolutely amazing! God bless you for everything you do. I am a Green Beret Brat so I understand what our military men and women and their families sacrifice everyday. Our military men and women are an inspiration. I give each of you my respect and admiration. Thank you for keeping us all safe.
I love this song let us look around and notice if someone looks sad and lonely. Let us reach out. They did a fantastic job. We don't want people to take their lives.
Wonderful rendition. but, more importantly what a clear expression of the intrinsic support that military comrades exhibit towards one another. never leave a comrade behind in battle or wherever in life. "You will be found". thanks to Army Voices for your outstanding representation of our military, all of whom the rest of us must deeply value and appreciate.
I'm so glad you are singing Broadway pieces ❤. It sounds simply beautiful and thought it's magical on stage to hear and witness you bring a new special element to these heartfelt songs.
Such a heart felt song and really personal to me as my boyfriend passed away in March from cardiac arrest and since then I felt alone and this song always picks me up
