I buy watches for me. I get pleasure from owning them and feel a bit proud when something i own ends up going up in value on the resale market, but i dont look at it as an investment. Just makes me happy to know that I had a good eye for something that has become more desirable over time.

Bremont makes some really nice watches, but they are overpriced. They use off-the-shelf movements but modify them so they are chronometer certified. Their cases are really innovative and have a good look, in my opinion. That said, the best Bremont purchases are new gray market, where I've often found Bremont watches at 45-50% off, and sometimes even 60% off. At that price they seem like a good value watch.

Fair enough. Manufacturing in the U.K., as well as not having the same access to supply chains as Swiss competitors factors into the pricing. Pre-owned indeed makes a more enticing offer. Overall I commend Bremont for their ongoing progress as they are still a relatively young company.

I think Seiko understands how BS limited editions are, too. I picked up the Seiko Presage GMT in the white and blue limited edition. It was the same price as the other versions. I only chose it because I liked the colour combo, not as an investment. It's just nice to see they're not trying to profit from it.

Bremont has a compelling family story behind it which I think is what allowed them to enter the industry at such high prices, compared to Christopher Ward who IMO also makes great watches at affordable prices. I happily paid retail for a Christopher Ward (~$1500 USD) but I would NEVER consider paying close to retail for a Bremont.

its important to buy a watch for the right reason :) I would say that also a brands like IWC, Panerai, Breitling, Omega general loosing a value (except a few models)… I own IWC, Panerai and I love them… ;) for me personally AP, PP, Rolex keep the value/add value (MSRP buy)

End of the day, you have to be able to afford said thing and on top of that, like the product itself. Plus, as we've seen the market can correct itself. If one has money, it doesn't matter if it loses value. Hence the number of people who buy a new version of their S Class or 7 Series every two years.

Hublot value falls as fast as that new car as soon as you drive it off the lot. Love Seiko too but limited editions are a rip off on the reseller market. Don't buy one unless you plan to keep it for your own enjoyment. As well as Bremont add another well known but little talked about luxury brand, Chopard. They fall so fast it will make you dizzy. They're also pretty much overpriced at retail too. For example the Alpine Eagle XL chronograph at $18,500 can be had unworn for as low as $12,500 on Chrono 24. That's a huge chunk of change! You've lost $6,000 almost instantly.

Ya know, I watch various watch channels mostly for fun and to learn, see brands that I have little to no exposure to without driving hours and hours. Some videos I’ve seen lately show watch negotiations between a “whole seller” and a “grey market retailer.” I mean really at what point is it really a retailer when watches are getting flipped repeatedly. Anyways, I saw two watches in specific both used Rolex going for a price around 4K and another 5k. One an oyster perpetual black dial, stainless and the other champagne date just, jubilee with diamond indices. Both watches are on the sellers website and are 2k and change over what they paid. How are they building 2k+ in cost of doing business in these “entry level watches?” If I take the same approach they did in obtaining the Watch, which I can’t do with a website, I’d start my negotiations at what they paid plus $100 for whatever they did to get that Watch to market. Are these margins the root cause of why these watches, some, are nearly unattainable for the average buyer, ie non millionaire celebrity?

If you want to say “ you will never be able to buy a Rolex” then you probably won’t be able to. My friend! You must have more faith and hope then that. If you work hard and roll with the love and the light AND for god sake DO NOT THINK TO YOURSELF that you won’t be able to do something. Definitely don’t say out loud to anybody else that you won’t be able to buy or do something, and don’t write or type any of that BS to be shared. If you have a dream then turn it into a goal by writing it and rehearsing it out loud. This is called manifesting and when you practice this kind of positivity blended with hard work and dedicationYOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE. Do this and when you one day look at your wrist adorned with a stunning real Rolex. Remember this comment and pass on the blessing. Think it, write it, sing it, dream it, live it! There is plenty enough money in the world SO MUCH. GRIND hard. Don’t quit don’t ever give up. You also would not be the only person to ever get gifted or find a Rolex. So look forward to it with zero doubt in your mind. It’ll come. I promise. Unless your a thieving lying scumbag who doesn’t deserve it! Be good! Believe it!🎉

I certainly don’t buy them as an investment. I buy them to wear and to enjoy they make me feel special and i just love the fact there is a mechanical movement ticking away in side yes my phone tells me the time but a watch is a man’s jewelry. It’s appreciation for the design, elegance, mechanical movement and engineering that’s involved in making wonderful time pieces. Wait so you tell people that you shouldn't but watches to invest. But then decide to tell people what watches to start away from. Just don't give an opinion. I like your channel and content, but as someone who doesn't suggest investing in watches for ROI, then you shouldn't have opinions like these made public. Encourage people to buy watches based on what fits their needs, wants, desires, style, and history. The things we all really care about. Also you are not as someone who doesn't suggest watch investments attempting to time the market and give investment advice. Which I don't think saying this isn't financial advice is complete bs as it's exactly what you're doing. Advice works both way when you tell someone what to buy or what not to buy. I don't agree with everything, some of it, but not all. And for us to act like we know where the market is right now, is relative. If you want a Rolex, you very well could buy one now and 5 to 10 years have a great opportunity to sell at an increase or at least have it performed other investment options. Watches are typically held for long periods of time and of investment probably taken very good care of.

I think you could sum this up by saying "Buy watches the same way you would buy handbags.".

Buy watches just because you like them and maybe to hand down to family. Investing is stupid. I have a few omega watches you forgot to mention. moon history is the reason and James Bond for me.
