I was gonna pull the trigger on some Kumho MT51s for my Prado (good value, reputable brand, AT/MT hybrid) but came across some brand new Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs that a guy was selling cheap after having in his shed for a couple of years so went with those instead. Awesome tyre, used the 4 digit code to confirm how old they were. I reckon I'll come back to the Kumhos for my next set, hard to justify full price Goodyear's. Also had Bridgestone Dueler AT 697s previously, good for daily with occasional offroad... 👍🏽
Thanks for the advice. A lot people talk about the Goodyears so I’ll look into them for sure. The kumhos look like good value and seem to always be the cheaper option which I’m not complaining about haha
Must be a common occurrence?! Strange. I’m thinking of just keeping the stock size. Saves money on the tyres and at the pump. Thank you for your thoughts
Should be cheap too. Wouldn’t mind something a bit more aggressive but the HT go pretty hard off road as I’ve shown on my prado and hilux. Good suggestion 👍
Love the 'cheez cutters'.Had them since the 1990's when they were split rims plus on my 2021 model which are just steelies. They just look honest and are engineered for the truck.😃
On my FJ l have Yokohama G016 friend of mine who uses his FJ as a daily drive and comes 4wheeling has G015(on his second set). Either tyres are on the softer side, benefits are quite ride at a cost of longevity. The tyres have never let us down.
I originally had BFG KM2's on my FJ got easy 120000kms out of them then i switched to K02's which are now done 90000kms but they too are on borrowed time. I'm not sure what to get next maybe go back to Mud Terrain KM3 BFG. Looking forward to seeing what you pick.
Probably a Toyota R/T or Goodyear Duratrac. I think the hybrids are the best option with 3 ply sidewall. Mickelson T Baja Boss A/T would be first choice but big $$
Thanks Richard. I haven’t looked at the prices of the Mickey’s but I had a set that was VERY old on my patrol and they still held up. I hear good things about the new Goodyears too
