What a beautiful yacht this is with the dubbel engine room a crew space that look very nice everything what you want on a yacht you find on this boat I like even the bunk room by the master a great idea. Great tour of this magnificent yacht! I think I found my new dream boat (ignoring the price) I love how the space has been used. In the first minute, 7 million for a Grand banks, I'm thinking no chance, 5 minutes in to the video, I like that. Couple of things i did not like was the galley taking away the views of going forward from guest area and no portholes in the furthest forward cabin and "GB" plastered everywhere. Other than that the fake teak flooring in even the electrical and mechanical area, the fit and finish including in the crew quarters was just spot on. Thank you for the video.

You're paying for the highest quality craftsmanship in the industry, efficient travel, and probably the most thought-out hull design on the market. It's not a boat for me, but for many, it is worth the huge price tag. Adding on: grand banks are known for being customizable in a million ways. I'm sure all of those grand banks logos were requested by the owner, as I haven't seen this many before.

Practice your camera work, it's pointed down far too much. For example, you showed the view from the helm out of the windscreen and it was still pointed below the horizon.

Great looking boat, lots of different ideas about the space usage! The ONLY thing negative I would say is the crews cabin. Probably much better to have bunk beds. Bu being a custom boat I'm sure you can order that. Nice boat over all.

Beautiful boat. Don't mind the old Haterus style engine rooms. Wished they would have skipped the IPS drives and stayed with shaft and screw. Boats that size are hard to steer at slow speeds with an IPS. Good video.

Really good review marred by some of the camera work. The fish-eye is still too extreme (which always strikes me as ironic on a boat) Nick makes this look so easy. So glad that a UK based publication is having a US based correspondent. Don't let the criticism get you down - your presence is much appreciated. I would love all sorts of more details, as in more on the hull. You mention Kevlar, I presume it is in the hull. I would love more details on the headroom - people keep saying "look there's plenty" - I"m 6 feet 6 inches tall, that is 1.98 meters, Six foot three headroom is not plenty for me. Also the Air Draft is useful, but I don't see this being an inland boat. Thank You so much for the review.

All taken onboard, unfortunately my camera work does need improvement, however I am not a cameraman nor a journalist by trade. Nick is, and a very good one. Working on it though. I am and have been running all different types of powerboats and motor cruisers for 27 years in Europe and the US for the past 12 years, so I hope I am giving a good honest view. Grand Banks were not too forward about disclosure on what and where materials are used in the hull. Kevlar is usually used to reinforce stress areas around a hull however. Headroom for you would be fine for you. Other than the aft and forward engineering spaces, I don't remember anything under 7 feet.

@@MotorBoatYachting He's no worse than Hugo and is getting better. Hugo is getting better also. The US has a very different boating culture than Europe. Center Consoles are the rule, and the small "sport" yacht isn't a thing anymore. And, if we have a sport boat it is for some sport, like fishing. It's nice to get reviews that aren't all just cooing. One of the great issues with Nick is that he never as any criticism which is why boat companies love him.

Why would Grand Banks still use fisher panda generators. I understand if your tight on room but on an 85 foot yacht it just looks cheap. The other thing I keep seeing is the Volvo IPS packaged boats. But I’ve never met a single person that likes the pods weather it be Volvo or another manufacturer. Don’t get me started on Volvo’s sea water strainers that break open and hydra lock the engine.

I don’t know if it would be worth having a day head on the Sky lounge area but to me it seems odd that you have to go down a level to use the lavatory as one was not built as standard. I also wonder if teak throughout might be a bit lighter and not make the boat feel a bit smaller as it were.

My expectation given the composite hull is this boat will have been built like its sailing equivalents and your wood finishes will be laminates on light stable composit structural carcase materials... Power to Wt ratio is what they have sort to achieve and cruising range at passage making speeds. Im quite surprised that they didnt go down the Hybrid Diesel Electric route but that might be an option that some will consider. That would allow you to ditch the gensets the main engines function being as more efficient propulsive generators for Electric motors or even lighter and more efficient DeepSpeed... Electrojet propulsion units. Which sit under the hull with only the cables and or steering mechanisms inside. A lot more compact, quieter, simpler and lighter. Than mechanical IPS drives.

The flybridge is an open upper deck version. The layout stays the same, single helm on the flybridge. Galley remains the same, only accommodation below has changes with the full beam master as mentioned and a couple of other small options lower decks only.

Okay... I'm almost halfway through the video (7:12), and my head is constantly tilted up because your video is constantly pointing down. Subconsciously, I am trying to move the camera up to see more and now my neck is hurting. You never see the ceiling! How frustrating! Just an FYI for you.

Absolutely right, it’s a process that’s been around for quite a while and is very costly to set up. There is a significant amount of refinements to the process from a number of builders. This one is particularly clever on a boat this size eg using carbon fibre for the entire above deck superstructure and balancing the hull for maximum efficiency.

It's not for me. Grand Banks is trying to cut in between two classes and IMO not succeeding in either. It's not really a trawler, it's not a cruiser, I really don't know what it's main aim is. I'd take a corresponding size/price Ocean Alexander, Outer Reef, or Cheoy Lee any day.

For 85 feet and no lower helm the main deck saloon is very small with tv opposite! And accommodation only squeezing in that small kids 4th cabin is very badly used space ! You should have 4 full size cabins with 6 to7 feet headroom! I actually think space has not been optimised for her size; the main deck could be so much more open and spacious! To much cabinets along port side opposite dinning table so remove them and put dinning table on port side and exstent saloon couches and open it all up! No bow seating or sunpad ! So only exterior dinning in aft cockpit and a little seating on flybride for 85 feet! Sorry this boat is terribly designed by owner but everyone has there own taste! No question on build quality though! Looks beautifully crafted! God bless🙏💚 and happy sailing all 🛥⚓

Hi Maree, thanks for commenting. The boat has 4 full cabins. Large VIP forward. 2 either side of the forward companionway. The 5th. Small cabin was added to accommodate the owners young grand children.

Other than the price, the problem with this yacht is that in 20 years I wouldn't see owners drilling the carbon fiber or marvellous wood to customize their boats with extra storage. The beauty of GB is that for me. Nice boat but not a soon to be classic.

It not the same boat. The look at the beginning of the video where you entered into the engine / crew space you have a split door and the upper deck is enclosed. The boat shown at the end of the video has no split doors and the upper deck is not enclosed. What a fake.

Not a very innovative interior design for 85 foot boat. Even with Volvo engines only 3 cabins.. The watermaker is under the forward cabins, this will be very loud. The galley is also a compromise for a boat of this size and keep in mind there is no lower helm.

Top quality modern water makers are almost silent. 4 cabins is an option. As are multiple galley/saloon layouts.
