Build several and place them around the map empty and without trapdoors; they're always useful. Leave them that way for several weeks just to see if anyone ever destroys them. If someone does destroy one or more they'll waste bomb resources and will eventually stop doing it. After you think they've learned their lesson you might then chose *one* to outfit and use in the manner shown in this video.
The problem with this is that the maproom renders AFTER all the foundations so everybody can see it’s not a solid plinths under the maproom. There’s one like this on the server I’m on and it’s obvious.
This is totally true its best used for bases hiding crap out in the open is just not the best idea.. there are better ways of doing this tho where it can't render so you can't see it. I use this trick instead of a hatch at base they won't know there is a way in and if they do it has alot more hp than a hatch..
What you could do is to build maps all around the world using this method but use only 1 to store stuff in so as if somebody decides to destroy your maps they waste bombs.
In case anyone actually thinks this is a good idea, what will unstick you is that if someone rides towards the base on a horse from far away so thing is cached... the 'base' renders in in a specific order. You'll get benches\chests first, foundations next, then the map on top last. I found plenty of these hidden rooms just because of the network streaming speed delaying the render. Note, I'm only 30ms away from my server.
I did this type of building by the Black Keep, but in the water. It became the community map room on our PvP server. The difference though... I sunk 2 vaults underwater with a trap door above that dropped down on top of them and then the map room above. It never got raided and I had a handy place to store tons of stuff away from my main base.
i'm glad to see you can climb through the maproom. I was going to place one on my roof but i wanted to make sure i can access it there, now i know how. Great video.
People have been doing this for years besides the bench part, everyone puts their map room on top of their base unless they want it destroyed, people blow it up for the hell of it too.
I saw this on one of Oldcraig's "duo survival" pvp gameplay videos but was just on the roof not for blocking storage. Think they used it like a one way exit to their crafting area rather than a hidden storage. Never thought to use then for this though. Ill be inspecting the ones placed on the server i play 😁
Well Wak... I USED to use this, thanks lmao. Tip, you can also shoot people with a bow up through the mesh from beneath the map room, my clan on an official pvp server had a sneaky map base like this with beds, buffs, fish traps, and pvp kits beneath a build at the north jungle obelisk. Allowed us fast travel to any of the Ob's and quick Highlands through 'The Passage' tunnel connecting to the Black Blood Tools cave area. BUT ITS TIME TO DEMOLISH IT NOW lol.
Yes, surfaces are one sided. The surface normal is on the visible side. That is the side the avatar can stand on. I'm surprised a surface wasn't placed on the bottom. As someone who has taken Multi Variable Calculus, I refer to surface normals. Most game programers don't take that course, and are taught that surfaces are transparent, and faces are visible and solid on the normal side. No matter how many times I say a surface is the solid canvas, and a face if the paint we apply to a solid canvas. One Official PvP server that I heard of had multiple map room structures at every Obelisk in the game world. Until the community changed. I've tried building this structure in single player, with a single outer ring of foundation. With either a ring of pillers at the center or door frames. I've heard of covered map room structures surrounded by door frames to make avatars emerging from underneath maps less visible.
'Hey wak I really enjoy all the video's and the time you put into making them. thank you for that. But, this is great and all have known this for over a year. Would you or wouldn't you call this meshing? i would. And is some meshing ok and others not ok because everyone knows about it? Wouldn't meshing be meshing? Where is the line drawn or does the line move for different circumstances? Promoting meshing for any advantage for me is a touchy subject. Especially with the amount of complaints we are having with it. just another opinion is all. another awesome video.
Ok I knew ya could jump in it...accidents of base building but this is an interesting application of it. I figured it was patched ages ago or I would have tinkered with this, this will serve me well, especially since I had to possibly pick a fight or two as of late in servers I play
Look the reason this dont work is cause of conan's rendering...... I'd say 60% of the time the bottom area and storage will render in B4 the map room and people see and know there is somthing under there ........DO NOT DO THIS . YOU WILL LOSE YOUR STUFF
I gave up on this game I was on a official server on Xbox and and my base and items where deleted and they even brought my character from lvl 15 to lvl 9
I have used this method and I have seen it. Probably why some attack maps (I guess). Never attacked one. Too precious. And sincerelly open maps should be respected. Because closed maps are for kitty kats. To me there's nothing more Alpha than a clan have open maps all over the territory. It's a good way to make a stand.
@@KonFess just there is no point in pve, in pve you just make bases that (can) look more realistic or just pretty, while pvp you getw eird 'apex' bases, dodgy stackiong, hiding in corners and such, not my cup of tea, which is not to dismiss it, just not for me personally
@@regalgiant1597 true, no point, but I would still do it. I hear on PvE-C, few people build public map rooms near to Obelisks. So players have to search and mark any they find. With rebuilding, and decay these common resources can just up and disappear.
Breaking news: Map rooms around the exiled lands now being attacked. I think the beat result would be to not do this will all the map rooms. When we did our run on PvP we placed maps at every obelisk with signs that said provided by “clan name” we only had one or two that actually had storage in them.
Yea good try wak, but it aint as new thing as you think but for new commers is good hint never less. But unless ur in a clann, i dont think you will be first to place map rooms around the map, orr att all :D It took me few weeks of play till i had enaf resources to do so. For one map room u need 200 demon blood, and that aint easy, not to mension all the other ingredient. and more usefull that build map rooms around obelisks its around some specific farm points. New asgard, king scourge, pirate bay, ect. And build base neer some obelisk. But in pvp i gues its not best idea because that makes raids easier for others :D And if u got free map room near its like Boooommm :D
Oh I know it’s not new. I don’t share everything and I don’t feel any need to be first to share something most of the time. 😉 I totally get your standpoint too. It’s not going to work for everyone or in every situation.
@@wak4863 Yop but seen it to mask a escape root or loot room in base from raiders. IN that scenario was nice. Even if they knew u can always trick them and seen put them in such small spaces that to kill the map room but not them selfs was imposible. The setup was made so that they thout map room was the loot room and wasted a bunch of explosives, to kill it. After they wasted 20 yars they learned there was a hatch, so they continued but found nothing. Loot room was just around the corner hiden with map room blocking sight. Later they found out but wasted all explosives on prevous atempt :D Troling is so nice :D Btw loved the fountain hide trick as well.
