CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Texas Joe Grant (Thomas Callaway) is in search of outlaw Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez), but he doesn't realize is that Billy is right under his nose.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this Western based loosely on actual events and people, Emilio Estevez stars as William H. Bonney (aka Billy the Kid). Sought for a petty crime in Lincoln County, Billy is taken in by John Tunstall (Terence Stamp), a British ranch owner seeking to make it in the cattle business. Tunstall employs a group of "regulators," comprised of wayward youths he's gathered over the years, to watch over his ranch; in turn, he teaches them how to read and reforms them into better men. Tunstall's business interests come into conflict with those of corrupt and murderous businessman Lawrence Murphy (Jack Palance), whose widespread connections make him a power to be reckoned with. When Tunstall won't budge from his right to pursue a living, Murphy's henchmen stage an ambush and kill him. This triggers a vow of vengeance from the quick-tempered Billy and his five fellow regulators, who are deputized to serve arrest warrants in the murder. However, when Billy decides to gun down the suspects instead of detaining them, his loyal pals become accessories in a vigilante spree to wipe the territory clean of Murphy and his web of conspirators. Soon, the supposed lawmen are on the run from bounty hunters, henchmen, and government soldiers, from all directions of the compass. This box-office hit also stars Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Dermot Mulroney, and Casey Siemaszko.

@Michael Moore That is a hot topic in the Wild West Americana world: among collectors, authors and scholars. Some Billy the Kid fans showed me the picture and my initial reaction was, honestly I see Charlie Bowdre, Manuela, and Sallie Chisum. There's a young man with a similar hat as Billy, dressed in a rather flashy sweater playing a British game. But the lack of provenance is a major issue. And Drew Gomber, Mark Lee Gardner, and Prof. Hutton thinks its BS so I got to go with them

So most gun carriers would leave the hammer resting on an empty cylinder. Billy found that cylinder and moved it so when the man fired it was blank that's when billy pulled his and shot the man dead

Only things wrong with this scene, Billy wasn't a smart ass. He was very smart, but in no way was "The Kid" looking for trouble. Billy had talked him out of shooting Jim Chisum for some imagined offense committed by Jim's brother cattle baron, John Chisum. This guy was. Next, this guy, had borrowed another patron's gun. Bully had been with the guy earlier and new that this man had shot his gun twice earlier in the day, plus, in the West, you always left the chamber under the hammer empty, if you fell or got jarred suddenly. Which means that this gun had 3 empty chambers. Billy asked to look at the gun and spun the chambers, so it was riding on "empty". Billy turned around to walk away, when he heard the guy draw and fire. Billy spun, like lightning and fired with much better aim.
