Ty Gardener and his exquisite Kenworth w900a perfectly showcases the “Young Guns & Old Trucks” series. He comes from a trucking family, he’s currently in school for diesel technology, he learned how to drive a two stick transmission on this rig, and he takes wonderful care of it.
You’ll hear lots of guys say something like, “I’m just the caretaker of this truck.” It’s almost like knowing you are one of many lucky guys that share part of this truck’s history. It had many caretakers before you, and it’ll probably have many after you. Old trucks go through phases as they age; too & I are just a small piece of the timeline.
My goal is to try capturing a moment in time as young men like Ty continue on a rich tradition in the trucking industry. These fellas not only respect the past; they revel in it. You’ll see it in their clothing, you’ll hear it in their stories.
Keep an eye out for young Mr. Gardener and his truckin’ buddies. They’re making us proud to pass the torch to.
