@@sticc3978 People tend to think I'm a guy. When I say something smart or original in analysis, I'm definitely assumed to be a guy. The world is ageist now. That's why "young man". In the old days he might have said "Genius! That was mighty white of you, sir!"
Alternate title: A mathematician using his math skills in real world. Edit: To all the people arguing about it being Geometry... Geometry is a part of Mathematics ;-;
This is the difference between knowing and understanding. We all know what he's doing, but there aren't many people watching who really understand the job and its geometry the way this guy does. This is exceptional.
It is not. Everyone could do it, he isnt a new albert einstein. So. What do you mean? Everything is hard til you master it, then it is very easy. Just because we do not understand it, does not mean we can not learn it. It is nothing. That's what I see. Why making a big deal out of it? You sound very negative. U use a phone, but do you understand it? I bet no. But that is ok because every human is good in different things, that is why we have money. Some people can not do things like surgery and they can never learn it because they are not made for it. No one can do everything. But everyone can do something and with the money they can buy the skills from other people. Thus I do not get your point
In high school I couldn't do math to save my life. 7 years later I've built multiple pieces of equipment to the exact needed specs, self taught to run a mill and a lathe. A framing square, calipers and a machinist protractor with the mindset that EVERYTHING is a triangle you can build almost anything! I'm glad people like you are still picking this stuff up.
@@goblinking9824 I like to think so. Its used in nearly every aspect. From load calculations, rigidity, temperature variables, efficiency, planning, material estimates, time estimates, and aesthetics where applicable.
Im the same way but every now and then I need a refresher in trigonometry or even some ocational youtube video like this to remind me everything is a triangle , circle
It’s fairly simple geometry… There’s entire university departments dedicated to it. “Picking this stuff up.” Doesn’t make sense seeing as we’ve been advancing this idea since antiquity.
Most people are so poor that all they have is money, invest some of it no matter how small, when you invest you are buying a day that you don't have to work.
If you have a grasp on how objects and space (I mean the physical universe, not like space space as in astrophysics.) work, it would probably be easy to do this. I mean, everyone was a carpenter a few hundred years ago. Like, EVERYONE. All couple hundred million people on the planet at that time.
During my school days there was no RU-vid. Learnt trigonometry, geometry without the practical need to learn. I neglected many topics because I felt useless. I wish I had YT and other platform at that time.
I majored in math in college and you put me to shame. Your skill and cleverness is baffling. I am deeply humbled by your skill to solve practical problems with nothing more than basic geometry. You have a great talent, a gift from God!
Omg it's been fred Flintstone stone age since i last used a compass and I couldn't even make it work then 🤣🤣🤣ahhh maths, algebra geometry trigonometry i just threw it all out of the window...however my oldest brother like this Einstein chap was as good as you...the way you handled your tools and apply off joints in corners he did those with ease. You remind me of my dear brother....he could memorize a string of values down to the last nano fraction then apply it...you are just as excellent
It hurts my heart that folks are amazed by the advanced understaing of builders'math. While it is impressive, it's really first term apprentuceship. It's very instructional. I believe everyone should Learn a trade. It's not silly and we are not cro-magnons. We've just learned a skill. We've also been to school for this. It's not like you can just do this stuff. It takes education and perseverance. Just letting people who think that this is mystery, or those who think that "anyone can do this" are both wrong. We worked hard both mentally and physically to be able to make things like this happen.
You have misunderstood the comments 😊 Everyone learns geometry but majority of us never used it in our lives. So people are excited to see this being actually useful, especially in simple stuffs like laying tiles. We know that geometry is required for advanced stuffs, but I guess we never connected it with tile laying. And it’s done really elegantly in the video. 😊
Im amazed that people think this is advanced while really its basic geometry. This goes to show how uneducated most americans are while we europeans learn this stuff at 10 years old. You guys need more investement in schools
I get what you mean, but this kinda geometry is not hard to learn while on the job. Once you've got the basics down the rest really just falls into place. This isn't neurosurgery, just a spacial awareness and some basic math, with great craftsmanship. Not something you'd learn in a day, but also not something that should take you longer than a year or two if you graduated high school.
Wow. This is the best thing I've seen on RU-vid how cut certain things. I bet most people don't know how to do this. Thank you so much. I'm going to save your video.
I really wish I'd found this a year ago when replacing a few of my windowsills. My "calculations" turned into trial and error and a bunch of useless stock in my garage I'll save for later use.
That's the beauty of it.. To be able to not only get the exact measuring right.. But also being materials efficient while you are at it.. Guy is a master of his trade
I would have never guessed to use the same two pieces to cut the shape it needs i never would have guessed that putting one on top let's you measure where you need to cut using the same two pieces
Their Eastern civilisations go back millennia, when their artisans and tradesmen built some of the world's greatest cities, and social infrastructures long before the Western civilisations were founded.
Why do you focus on the West? China has all the infrastructure and tech, while they have HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE and wicked ideologies, they outmatch us technology wise, just like the Nazi’s.
@@user-df6fl7ui3k What? You should seek help, I’m being serious, not trying to be rude. God declares there to be no extraterrestrials, therefore there are no extraterrestrials.
@@user-df6fl7ui3k The rapture is coming. When it does, praise the Lord God Jesus Christ, who is God Almighty. Read the Bible, and get your head chopped off so that you may be forgiven and saved! Completely untelated to vid but I couldn't notice one thing. Aren't you descandant of immigrants from Slavic country (ie: Poland, Slovakia etc) because your last name sounds like it was from eastern regions of Europe
Pretty much this. Im just laughing how everyone is shocked while most of these tricks are actually thought to u. Sure its not elementary or highschool material but if u learn as a carpenter u WILL learn tricks to use the least amount of math possible. (using two tile to mark the cutting angle ect) These are essentially small hacks that are also happen to be 100% more accurate then using overcomplicated math and messing up the cut/waste resource.
@@dirtydanspeaks6330 🤦🏻♀️ my partner I'd 26 and has hands like this.. it doesn't tell anything about age. It's also about a man's posture and what kinda work he does. (Mine works in metal, he makes cylinders and stuff) so yeah it doesn't have to say that he's 40. On the other side, 40 is not so old right? 😅
@@dirtydanspeaks6330 but! The man in this video is kinda old I think he looks very wrinkly and aged in his face. Then I would say he's definitely over 40!
