Students' Speakers Corner 2024: Oskar Bonte
In deze speech vraagt VUB-student Oskar Bonte aandacht voor de representatie van jongeren in de politiek, want die is er momenteel niet. Slechts 2 parlementsleden in het Europees Parlement zijn jonger dan 30 jaar. Dit is problematisch, aangezien er in Europa maar liefst 74 miljoen mensen jonger dan 30 jaar zijn.
Al voor de zevende keer zullen Brusselse studenten hun redenaarstalent demonstreren tijdens de Students’ Speakers Corner. Die vindt naar jaarlijkse traditie plaats op de Internationale Dag van de Persvrijheid, op 3 mei in Bozar. Onze studenten geven in een gebalde en uitdagende speech hun kijk op een maatschappelijke of politieke kwestie en zetten daarmee het publiek aan het denken.

In this speech, VUB student Oskar Bonte calls attention to the representation of young people in politics, as it is currently lacking. Only 2 members of parliament in the European Parliament are under 30 years old. This is problematic, considering that there are a staggering 74 million people under the age of 30 in Europe.
For the seventh time, Brussels students will showcase their oratory skills during the Students' Speakers Corner. This event, held annually on the International Day of Press Freedom on May 3rd at Bozar, is a tradition. Our students deliver concise and provocative speeches, offering their perspectives on societal or political issues, stimulating critical thinking among the audience.
