Being conflicted on the disagreements and arguments in this show just shows how well the characters are written and portrayed where you can understand where both sides are coming from. It makes these characters feel like real people.

I do understand Willes words about not wanting to be an advocate for everyone just because he’s been as symbol and a figurehead his whole life so he probably wants at least one thing where he can just be himself with someone he loves and not have to be a symbol again

Concerning what willie said about "so am i suppose to be an advocate for all queers.." when i first heard him say it i was also a little thrown but i saw a really good explanation of like he has been a figurehead and thrown into the spotlight literally his whole life and is probably tired of being a figurehead in another way all he wants is to just wants to love his boy in peace 😢 also he's 16 and figured out he likes a boy like less than a year ago hasn't once actually defined his sexuality before so to go from that to be the figurehead of an entire community when you don't feel ready is a lot 😢

I feel like this season was so good for showing the conflict in Wille and Simon's relationship and how unnecessarily complicated it is for them. Because, at the end of the day, they're just two teenagers with a high school crush making teenager mistakes and having typical teenager miscommunication, and yet for some reason this is such a big deal. And I love the fact that, as you said, you can't pick a side. On the one hand, I really feel for Simon because we've seen from the very beginning that he is a massive advocator for equality. It's one of the things that clearly draws Wille in - the fact he speaks his mind. And it is such a big part of Simon's personality that he wants to make sure marginalised people can be seen that it's so frustrating to see him having to mask that because of who he's in a relationship with. But at the same time, I'm like Simon, my guy, you wanted Wille to come out after the video was released. You wanted this to be public. Why are you so surprised that some members of the public are massive dicks about it? He's a prince for God's sake. You have to at least make your accounts private for your own mental health even if you don't want to subscribe to the monarchy's limited view on what people associated with the prince should be allowed to post. It's just one of those things with any public figure - you're going to get both good and bad comments because some members of the public are just nasty people. And I have the same conflict with Wille, because he has grown up in this environment. Every action of his, every little thing he says, every person he speaks to, is all of a sudden seen as some sort of political statement irrespective of whether it should be or not. So I do understand his want to step back from that - to have the opportunity to just exist and it not be some big statement. And I also understand that, even though I am highly critical of the monarchy and do not believe we need one, at the end of the day, it's Wille's family. It's all he's known, and it's got to be scary as a 17-year-old to feel like you have to disown this structure you've had your whole life just because you want date a guy. But equally, if you're going to be a part of this system, the least you can do is try and use your influence for good. Even if it's something as small as advocating for an LGBT+ charity of whatever, because doing something like that as a prince will show such a clear stance on something that, as you said, shouldn't be political. And when it comes to Simon's social media, Wille, you need to be so much clearer with what you want from Simon regarding this. Talk to the guy - come to a compromise. Anyway, this got super long, but I just had a lot I wanted to say, and this is literally only regarding Wilmon lol. It doesn't even begin to address the other plotlines.

i hate that people who watch this show seem to not understand what IS a political statement for a royal. ANYTHING that any political party of your country has spoken upon. ESPECIALLY if more than one with different opnions, BECOMES inherently politically. Whether it should or shouldn't be a political statement does not matter in the slightest. THAT is what Wilhelm means with Queer Rights being a political issue. Political parties spoken on it in different opinions. THAT makes so he can't speak on it, because it would look like he's siding with a party over the others, which he is very simply not allowed to do. It's not that complicated of a concept

When Wille says he can't take a stand, I think it's more that he feels he's took such a big 'stand' when he outed himself and stood up for him and Simon, that he darent do any more to rock the boat. And taking a stand to get his phone back so they can have a relationship out of hours is so different from being a queer (the 'label' he uses as he wants to stay unlabelled. And he's 16 and been repressed all his life!!

Also… being better than everyone else in every class just meant they hated me more. To be honest. And as an adult I just kept being told I’m overqualified, which eventually someone explained to me was code for not fitting in with them. So yeah, being better than them doesn’t help either.

I've seen a lot of reactors side with the principal on the whole striking thing, which I guess makes sense - they're privileged rich kids basically wanting to try this striking thing for fun with no planning whatsoever - but I also feel like what they're asking for is very fair. their cellphones are /theirs/, the school shouldn't get to take them away like they did outside of school hours anyway. and having your graduation cancelled when you've looked forward to it for years does suck (it happened to me too due to Covid), especially since it's also a really big deal in Sweden, so them asking for it back doesn't seem like a privilege thing to me - they just want what all other kids in the country get which is valid. and those two things don't have anything to do with what the school has gotten backlash for anyway, so wanting them back is reasonable (to me at least)

The foundation thing is understandable imo. It doesn't matter that something shouldn't be seen as a political statement, as long as it is a politically charged topic, commenting or acting on it from a supposedly neutral position will inevitably seen as a political statement, siding with the party that you agree with. But yes, I think they could've gone with a bit more generic topic for the foundation that is not as contested as lgbtq+. The mental health one for example would be generic enough probably, but if done well enough would've been able to help the community a lot. On another note, it really sucks for Simon and Wille. Doesn't matter what they do, Wille will always remain a well-known public figure even if he were to abandon his position. He either becomes king or stays an (ex-)crown prince forever. Neither would allow him (and his partner/family) to have complete privacy or freedom.

Actually i was really mad the first time i saw wilhelm say "do i have to fight for all of the queers just because im in love with you?", it made me upset bc of the obvious internalised homophobia and it kind of made him appear entitled to me. But then i thought about it for more than 2 seconds and i completely understand wille, i mean he worded it pretty poorly, but he's right. Just because he is in someway queer doesn't mean he is obligated to be an activist. That's just his identity and being queer doesn't mean you have the obligation to be a symbol for something, just because he has the ability to represent something doesnt mean he should. He has the right to not want to make his identity another political statement, i get he's been forced to cater every part of him for the media and he just wants to be able to just be, for once. It rubbed me wrong when Wille literally said: how can you worry about some comments when I'm here worried about something else? Like why do you think your worries are more relevant than Simon's? Why do you just dismiss his feelings? Also I don't remember Simon 'signed for this life', it was never his choice. He never asked Wille to announce their relationship to the whole world. In S1 he just wanted to face together the consequences of their video (leaked without his consent). And Wille just left him alone to deal with it without a warning and then assumed they can pretend nothing happened. And in S2 Simon agreed to be in a secret relationship with him.

When this is done you really should watch SKAM. It’s a similar vibe, but it’s Norwegian. It’s funnier, and really leans into the authenticity. The shows have a lot in common, but in my opinion, SKAM is quite a bit better.

I was so annoyed when Simon decided to sit with them at the end (in the protesting in hall), like at the start he was against that demonstration and then he decided okay, let's do it. Like I get that it would also mean that he would have more time with Wilhem, but idk, it annoyed me. Where I live it tends to be more about colourism coupled with xenophobia in addition to racism, because immigrants here are also white. As a foreigner I got exactly that, additionally I’m also disabled, so I was bullied for both, and had to be better than everyone else. I was still considered disruptive and sent out of class almost daily and I still struggle with the internalised expectation of needing to constantly prove myself.

Agh. There's so much conflicting seeing-both-sides stuff in my head. It's kind of sad when Wilhelm figures out he can join the sit-in without consequences, and Simon misinterprets that as Wille only sticking his neck out when it doesn't cost him. I felt like Wilhelm was just saying he could do this -- and thereby be of some help -- without the handlers immediately reacting and clamping down.
