as a math teacher I am ok with students correcting me, as it's pretty rare. My priority is to give my students the correct knowledge. If it wasn't rare, of course I would ask myself questions.
@@mobilegamestrial6972 if a student thinks something a teacher said is wrong then they should ask about it, but trying to one up a professor and call them stupid is not the way to do it
That one was the dumbest one. The gym teacher doesn't need to be exercising all day straight and repeating the exercises with each new class every period.
@@ZantherStone they should be able to have good form and should be able to show kids how to do an exercise multiple times a day and not be like “kids I’m tired let’s have one of the athletic students show you what to do so I don’t have to”
@@everythingdibs344 But that’s not what this video is about. He didn’t need to run with them to show good form of running. Maybe if it’s first day of class.
@@everythingdibs344 You seem to misunderstand what the trainer should be doing. They're supposed to watch you do an exercise to see what your strong/weak sides are and help you if you're doing something wrong. Sure, it's an ideal world and most are indeed just couch potatoes daydreaming while the class is repeating something for umpteenth time. But making a requirement for trainers to focus on doing the exercise themselves instead of helping individuals in class is just dumb.
Sadly, it's also more costly. Specifically, more weight and less space to work with, meaning the booster had to be bigger with higher fuel cost, which results in more money. Space X is working on it, but as far as I know, they didn't succeed yet in terms of cost effectiveness. Turns out that letting it drop to the ocean and picking it up is more cost effective.
@@michaelsong5555 yeah but Elon is the type of guy who doesnt care about budget. I mean he plans to terraform mars to sustain life and that would take a lot ton of money compared to the cost of actually reviving earth to be habitable again.
@@rockydee7499 Then it's not sustainable. Very few people are gonna do something that's cost ineffective. Elon may not care, but everyone else does. After Elon's dead, nobody is gonna follow up on his technology (unless someone rich improves on it to make it cost effective).
@@michaelsong5555 letting early rocket stages burn up in the atmosphere is not more cost effective than landing said rocket. Nearly all the fuel is spent getting to space, not much needed to land the rocket with the help from gravity.
Think of where they land though, firstly they are gong to have to get the boosters to slow down their fall that's now thing, second they are going to have to control where it lands, in the case of how and when the rocket is launched, this can be partially done, but where can the boosters land? You can't how a huge booster smashing into to neighborhood or infrastructure. After all not all the areas of land are just open grass fields and what not. There are many many factors, variables, and dangers. You need to figure out where the boosters will land. in addition for how far they will deviate. You will need a suitable area to land as to not excessively damage the booster or the area around it You would need to ensure that, if the parachute or whatever fail, it will not cost lives or cause major destruction of property and such You need to find a way to make it retrievable at the area it lands. landing booster rockets is by far more costly, more risky, and might as well be less effective. Water works as and effective cushion, a 17 story tall booster is not gonna crumble to death if it impacts the oceans hard, on land, it has the possibility of crumbling itself more compared to a body of water making it less cost effective as the parts have to be repair or outright scrapped. The Ocean is vast, even if the deviation path for the booster goes somewhere else, the result was still likely be the same, a retrievable booster that didn't really damage anything or anyone. In a ocean the most it could harm is the fish right under its path. On land its another story, it has to land in specific areas, far from residential areas, far from infrastructure, far from areas like forests where it'll damage the booster, kill wildlife, and unnecessarily destroy tree, it has to be accessible, the land has to provide enough cushioning to not cripple the thing upon landing, in addition, if it land bottom first, it as to be cushioned by something for that fall, some boosters may be 17 stories tall, it that falls, its gonna break. it must consider looters who may try to steal parts from the booster. I could keep listing. landing booster rockets on land is a terrible idea, because of its risks and downsides, landing in the ocean cushions the boosters making less damage and thus reducing costs, its less risky as it has such a low chance of damaging property or killing anyone whether the descent deviates or even fails. Just because its possible, why would you do it when the previous method is far superior and safer. It would cost way more money to land a booster than to let it plop in the ocean. it would cost a huge amount if it were to land on any populated area too.
When you're right...you're right! My ninth-grade history teacher wasn't really a history teacher. She was an English teacher who had been assigned a freshman history class. In this class we had several World War II buffs who constantly pointed out her mistakes whenever she talked about the war. Eventually the head of the school's history department summoned three or four of us and asked us to stop correcting her. My response was similar to Sheldon's: "Perhaps you should have someone more qualified to teach classes about World War Ii--such as one of us!"
I'm gonna take a few guesses here. Their response to yours was either. 1: "wait outside my office" 2: "stop back chatting" 3: A meeting with your parents
If you knew she was really an English teacher, why did you and the other students expect her to know anything about history? The teachers at Sheldon's school are teaching the classes that they wanted to teach. This is not the same thing at all. They did not hire you because you were a child. I am sure that you did not know as much as you thought you did. Are you a teacher now?
I had some teachers (not teacher's) who got into the job during the war era when they were grateful to have ANY adult who wasn't involved in the actual war effort to basically babysit a classroom. They were dumber than dirt but clever enough to use the Teacher's Editions of the text books to just get by and build up tenure and hold onto their position until that big fat pension kicked in.
@@lila2986 The Science department head I had in mind when I wrote my OP was teaching us about adhesion and cohesion in molecules but was cross-identifying each by the other name so I politely raised my hand to *suggest* he'd made that slip. He immediately stopped his talk and gave us a reading assignment from the text for the rest of class. I was fully capable of being a smarmy Sheldon but, in this case, I had not been. I just figured he'd made an understandable mental gaffe similar to stalactite versus stalagmite. He genuinely hadn't a clue what he was talking about though and folded on the matter. He'd unsuccessfully tried to cause trouble for me with the principal as I found out later.
she said the square of sin "and" cosine...maybe he meant something like sin^2(theta)-1=cos^2(theta) or something like this (just like the E=mc^2 and m=E/c^2 facade if uk)
Square of sine of an angle plus square of cosine of the same angle equals one (as long as the angle is real. This would be no identity for the complex variable sine and cosine functions)
@@ShahhetaviNo , he thought that she was implying (sinx + cosx)²=1 . The appropriate way of pronouncing this identity would be like this : the square of sine of x and the square of cosine x is equal to 1 .
@@lila2986 I just meant that he is still in school, unlike his teachers who have a higher education than him and spent years collecting knowledge, a period of time that can double or triple his age. I understand a kid being smarter than an adult, though I've always imagined in that situation it would be more of a mental thing. The knowledge he portrays in the video is more closely correlated with memory and in order to memorize you need time, access, and it helps to have someone tell you the finer details of subjects in order to have a better understanding and mastery of that topic. I hope this makes sense. (Sorry if your reply was just meant to be a joke, I usually take words in a more literal sense)
@@dimitrakatsaras7340 He does claim in Big Bang that he has an eidetic memory. And we also know that he is quite egotistical to the point he has to assert his superiority every chance he gets. I'm pretty sure he just likes messing with his teachers and finding new ways to humiliate them... he doesn't look like it but he's just a brat.
@@lerouxmartin3478 I have never actually watched the show before (I haven't even heard of it) so I didn't know he had a photographic memory. I think that's an important piece of information. My comments only really included what I deduced from the video. If he's much smarter than everyone else why did he not move up a grade? Again, I'm asking because I've never watched the show and don't know if there is a reason. It seems he could at least go up to one grade higher.
@@dimitrakatsaras7340 I think he does upgrade from high school to college pretty quickly. But full disclosure here : I didn't see much of Young Sheldon either... I saw almost all of Big Bang Theory though, the original sitcom from where this show is derived from and which shares the character in question. And in BBT he does say he was in college before he was even a teenager
Great scene to sum up school's TRUE intentions w children. Obedience, not intelligence! I was also baffled w the way teachers got insulted when students corrected them!
I remember correcting a few teachers throughout the years I was in special education and took great pride when I was finally able to join regular classes and noticed a lot of the teachers making mistakes but I wouldn't make a comment in front of the whole class.
I remember being in special ed myself whenever in elementary school and eventually got moved out by my junior high years! Now I’m studying mechanical engineering with a minor in computer science ❤️
I'm sorry for this joke but this is the perfect opportunity. I wasn't expecting special forces. (link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ts0JjwOPPrM.html)
When Sheldon's teachers were in the principal's office, their complaints reminded me of me when I was in middle school! Now, I would not have questioned their credentials, but I would probably have criticized their fashion sense or appearance.
Actually, if a Sheldon Cooper embarrasses you, you shouldn't be a teacher. If teach something and you can correct me, by all means do so and be prepared to defend your answer. Moreover, Sheldon already knows the facts and concepts, but he never actually learned the values component. There's a reason why Sheldon is incapable of correcting Leonard without coming across as arrogant. There's a reason why Sheldon excelled in being a theoretical physicist but struggled to teach basic physics. Sheldon was already a scientist but he never actually learned to be part of society. Teachers usually know more than students but the goal is actually for teachers to be able to facilitate learning
The whole credit, appreciation n above all, Salute goes to the ingenious screenplay writers (Messrs Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro) for creating such a genius character!!
Sheldon may be technically correct about the others, but the PE teacher should have pointed out that Sheldon and the others in his class take one PE class per day, but the teacher probably has to do five or six.
Oral Roberts University was founded in 1963 and the series are based on 1970s-1980s. Its a tiny uni initiated with hundred of students... Plus the lack of communications by then, it is very possible for one to never heard about it lmao
I came here just to see if that line was in this compilation. It's one of my favourites. I actually have a KJV Bible from the 1980's with Oral Roberts' commentary in it.
If they are complaining that sheldon s smarter than adults, perhaps they have to work with improving themselves and not get annoyed with someone who’s smart. ✨💅💁♀️
I mean, they most likely can't, at some point, if a person towers you in intellect you can work in improving but won't reach the level of the other person, if he is motivated as well. It's less about them making an effort of bettering themselves, and more about them just accepting their flaws and letting somebody who knows better correct them.
I had a friend who was probably a genius. In grade school he constantly corrected the nuns. By sixth grade he changed to public school. The parents in the neighborhood disliked him out of jealousy. He loved the weather and had a weather station in his back yard and eventually became a meteorologist.
Sheldon should have been around to lecture my sixth-grade teacher on personal hygiene. She walked around with huge perspiration stains under her arms, made more obvious by the drab green dresses she wore. :-)
Deodorants are not used to stop you from sweating, they are supposed to mask body odour. Just because somebody sweats a lot does not mean they have a lack of personal hygiene
Gym teachers are instructors in Physical Education. For standard exercises, they observe the class to ensure everyone is performing correctly. During sports training, they lead by example and then help the students improve individually. In short, they need athletic knowledge and some level of physical fitness, but they're not required to be in the professional league. Personally, I hated it whenever our P.E teacher played with us in Middle School. The dude was a former college football player and he loved showing off. It didn't feel great getting a volleyball spiked in the face by him.
We had a fat phys ed teacher, Mrs. Schwab. In second grade, she explained what squat thrusts were, then asked if there were any questions. One kid asked, "Can you do them?". 50 years later, I still die laughing when I think about it.
What do you think would happen if a 10-year-old kid was at his doctor's office and the doctor came out of the exam room to see him playing with the computer ? I have actually seen this happen back in the time frame when this show is set and back then computers cost as much as an entire years salary and I saw more than once back in that time when kids were in businesses where there were IBM XTs and the owner of the business smacked the kid upside the head and grab the arm and threw him to the ground And back then people did that to other people's kids when they did something they should not do There's no way in the world that doctor would have allowed him to sit there and play with his computer Think about if you bought a brand new Mercedes and you came out to see a kid in the driver seat starting the vehicle This is not a realistic show
Since Mary told them “to figure it out”, they should have implemented a demerit system that whenever he was rude or disrespectful he received a “strike” and after so many he would have detention.
In reality teachers can handle Sheldon's behavior. He may come across as arrogant but there are correctiva actions teachers can take on Sheldon's behavior. In fact, it's not much of a problem at all
partially yes. the comment about mustaches to his female teacher is not usefull at all the comment to the gym teacher about leading by example... actually he doesnt have to. he isnt inspiring them to become olympic athletes or anything, he just gets them to excercise their body parallel to their minds the comment towards the math teacher of "i dont want to be rude, so i will give u time to figure out..." is clear rudeness and smartassery. he should point out a mistake in the math teachers work if adn when there is one, but there is a way to do it. i have been rude to specific teachers when i didnt get any respect as a student (because as humans they are also flawed, so was i in some cases too) andi have pointed out many mistakes (cause i was one of those students that were able to catch most mistakes cause i payed attention, but i tried to be polite (most times). he intentionally fgor the sake of this being comedy is rude, and had i been a teacher i would kick such a smartass out of my classroom
More like All teachers embarrass @FOX RIVER Entertainment. Young Sheldon embarrasses all Teachers. NO FUCKING APOSTROPHE, that is a possessive you do not possess. I'd let it go, but in this context...
In Polish school being an autistic golden child is a lot less funny, in fourth grade I got slapped in the face because I was solving differential equations instead of that boring bullshit she pulled out and couldn't even explain properly. She asked me "what is this?!" and without waiting for any answer she bitchslapped me. Thank god, my mother took me away from this nightmare. This day I was reborn as a grave enemy of government founded education system.
