Young Thug Prosecutors Attempt to Block Defense Attorneys From Speaking to Media

The prosecution in the YSL RICO case is trying to stop defense attorneys from speaking to the media as the attorney for Young Thug co-defendant Yak Gotti filed a new motion for a mistrial. "We had really no choice," Doug Weinstein said to Law&Crime's Linda Kenney Baden.

Young Thug faces nearly a dozen charges, including possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. The rapper was arrested in May of 2022 along with 27 other alleged gang members. Many of those defendants have taken plea deals in the case.

I so hope the jury members have been able to see the deceitful, misguided actions taken by the prosecution in this case. Judge Glanville did a great job covering for the state, hiding their malicious tactics. At a minimum the jury should have a clear understanding of why Judge Glanville was removed from this case - an appearance of partiality is extremely relevant and hold weight. If it didn’t, the judge wouldn’t have been recused.

I’m not a prosecutor but it seems like if it takes over 100 days to make a point, you might not have a point. IMO: The most worst evidence from the state are the witnesses saying over and over that YT told them to stay out of trouble. The best evidence for the state is the rental receipt showing that YT rented the car used in a shooting.

My exact thoughts. Brian Steele is not cheap! Imagine a person in the same situation with a public defender who could care less. Or a public defender that is so overworked and stressed. Imagine a defendant that hires an attorney but the attorney is not as committed to their clients as Weinstein, Schardt, Steele, Adams, and the other attorneys.

8 months of trial. I would argue cruel and unusual punishment. The mental anguish of being in a never ending trial. Are they not innocent until proven guilty. Holding them in jail for months without strong evidence is criminal. And at some point I have to think how is this quick and speedy trial and when your rights are being violated. It does not seem fair or just. Clown show of a trial.

It’s mistrial and it’s a rico charge which is why 80 people were accused of being involved in YSL. It’s now only 8 people meanwhile some members like Gunna etc was individually tried and took plea deals.

So, hylton appeared in a different courtroom, with a different judge a few weeks back regarding this rico case. Nine other defendants were there to either plea or take the DA’s offer. All declined the DA’s offer, and opted for trial. Will these defendants be affected by any outcome in this courtroom? Different judge but same rico case and charges.
