no i didnt do this video to cope with my 4 rainbow argenti... (Hope you're all doing well, it's hard to upload RN and I got tons of IRL shit, but Aventurine guide on release!
@@oyfum2638 it's even crazier that he was SUPPOSED to be a full hp scaling dps with zero attack but hoyo just ended up giving him a bit of atk scaling for balancing purposes
I literally JUST realized all of this the other day when I properly started using the relic optimizer and it gave me mostly rainbow sets. I thought I messed something up but set bonuses are just simply not as good as you think they are. Took my account to a whole other level, thank you for compiling that information and I hope more people learn about this.
@@rolrof1 Not sure myself, but I think it suggests best-fitted relics present in your account for a given character to optimize their stats. I believe they're saying that the most optimized relics for the best stats were relics that weren't in a set.
having played Genshin for so long, breaking out of the mindset of "absolutely needing" a proper 4 piece or 2/2 piece has been difficult. setting this one on replay for a while
honestly it's not hard to break when u look at the set effects between the games, most of the genshin sets give u so many stuff and diff effects u dont get from main or substats meanwhile hsr has dmg percent atk SPD and like that's it, barely any special stuff
@@YungXin oh for sure. it's more of a "i don't see the set bonus text! i'm not done farming!" problem where i'm overvaluing the perceived completeness rather than the actual stats. i'm able to 36* everything, so it'll just take time to make peace with it
ehhh I dunno set bonuses in genshin are impactful, but stats are typically more important for dps. you can rainbow most dps in genshin and clear fine too. support sets in genshin do tend to be more important... vv, deepwood, noblesse etc. but then their stats rarely tend to matter that much beyond er needs.
The actual benefits to a 4pc vs 2pc vs rainbow relics was something I had wondered about but didn’t know the math for. Thank you for all your wonderful guides Guoba 🙏🏻
@@irsyadia5226 the 2p from hackerspace is 6% spd... which on a character with 100SPD is worth 6 spd. if your rainbow pieces roll 8-11SPD they are much better than hacker pieces with 2-3 +6% spd. you just have to do simple math to see if it works for you.
The Guoba video I never knew I needed! I've always been following a mainstat>substat>set bonus prioritization, and it's good to have reminders to never overlook cracked pieces even on off-sets. Guess it's that time again to do the routine 2000/2000 relics salvage session 😅 I keep procrastinating
"Your account is better than you think" - Tell that to all of my relics with DEF main stats and at least 2 shit stats that contribute absolutely nothing to the overall relics set effect.
its crazy how you know exactly which topics to bring to the table and ur ability to make it simple. this video tackles almost every thought of mine when building a character and I thank you for that, it kinda makes it easier now to cope with the really horrendous rng :p
this is the biggest noob trap that i see new players fall victim to most often. Ditching the 4 piece set bonus for top tier substat relics is deff the way to go. Most of my supports only have 2 piece hacker space and 2 piece broken keel set bonus. Otherwise reaching 160 speed and 30% eff res would be hardly attainable. Good shit Guoba, the casuals needed to hear this 😂👍
this is a really good guide for us returning players 🙏 figuring out what to farm when you stopped playing before 1.1 is HARD lmao and i appreciate the subtitles too!!!! thank u very much for the guide
this is so true, even for me. i stopped playing around 1.4 drop, and i picked it back up at the very start of 1.6, but it was still incredibly hard to figure out what to farm. proof that the longevity of hsr will last a while though 😭
Definitely going to reevaluate some of my relic sets. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of all the breakpoints each character should be aiming for? As much as I'd love to go sifting through your individual guide videos, an easier way would be appreciated
I lost my Acheron 50/50 to Clara and really didn't want to grind a whole new set for her, so I just gave her rainbow pieces until I hit a decent stat spread (50/110 crit, 3000+ attack), and she was still so good I managed to clear MoC10 which I was stuck on before rolling her. The cool thing about running her like this is you can just keep grinding and swap out one piece at a time while waiting for pieces equal or better to the ones she's already wearing, and have a usable character instead of someone sitting on the bench until they have the "perfect" sets.
Clara is cracked with the right setup, mine is on a good rainbow set, and she destroys Aventurine like he's made of butter. The only downside to her is that she doesn't work that well with the top supports, but maybe Robin will change that.
I recently found an hsr optimizer and I was puzzled it was usually recommending rainbow pieces however the calculated damage was massively better than my full 4 piece set. Maybe I need to check it more throughly and try to level all those double crit pieces on the wrong sets I have.
I'm absolutely team rainbow set. This game has been brutal with relic farming for me, but have had no trouble clearing the end game with rainbow sets. Maybe one day the sets will take pity on me lol
My Jing Yuan has random items, because i happened to have some with amazing stats. He has 3.2k atk, 75% crit rate and 180% crit damage. Performs amazingly, even without sets.
While it's important to equip rainbow in the beginning I feel for unaware people it can also quickly become a trap where they stop farming. Rainbows as a step to near perfect gear is very important in clearing with new units though.
This is both great and tragic news It's good for people who get crazy off-sets But none of my relics are good so I'm just screwed everywhere (Im sorry Acheron you're my first crit DPS my luck has yet to manifest, maybe Aventurine will help 😭)
yeah my brain gets SUPER funky and frazzled when its not a 4pc but i cannot deny how strong a broken 2pc or rainbow sets can be. (Ayyy HunterKee! Dude does good work!)
When building a new character I'll typically chuck on the best pre-rolled rainbow pieces I have sitting around, since I always have a few random pieces that are already upgraded and have really good substats but also aren't _better_ than what's on my characters so they just hang out in my inventory until they're needed. Then over time as I pick up new pieces that are more ideal for that specific character, if they roll better than the random pieces I have on I will gradually swap them out one at a time until I am eventually left with a god tier 4 piece set and then the rainbows go back to guarding my inventory until they're needed again. This way I always have some good gear around if I need to do a quick build, and since I don't switch each piece out until it rolls _even better_ than ny already good pieces, I know each step is always going to be a net improvement and my final build will be as good as it can be.
Agree, but the one thing for me is, I am rarely going to level up off pieces to see if they get Godly substat rolls. So while in theory this is true, in practice unless you level almost everything, you just don't really have as many options
In practice this is still true? You aren't upgrading everything you're upgrading whatever has potential. A perfect crit value chestplate will be good on any crit carry regardless of the 4pc value. The point was that you don't need to minmax a domain for every single character if you don't want to and you can just focus on some while using the same domain pieces for other characters if you want, like the DoT set 2pc
A general rule I like to follow in any game I play that has an equipment system similar this is 2pc and 4pc sets are worth if you cant get it from substats/mainstats (dmg%, res/def shreds, spd%)
I hope you are right Guoba. Because now I am gonna change my 2 crit roll gears on Acheron to 4 crit roll without set bonus. Thank you either way, maybe rainbow sets would make my few dps better. 😂
This is pretty solid advice, I should probably take this to heart myself too even as a day 1 player. It always made sense to me on the sets where the 4pc. effect is easily quantifyable in substats rolls. For example the 4pc. physical being equivalent to an extra 25% atk on your pieces. I find it harder with things like the quantum set where it gives effects you can't get elsewhere, like DEF ignore. It's probably not even possible to quantify it as the calculation would differ depending on the rest of your team and such (like how DEF ignore gets stronger the more you have until 100%). I suppose it'd be easy enough to take the character to MoC with both sets to see the results between 4 pc and rainbow. Some characters it's pretty easy on, like u said Guoba those who you already have something like 4 physical or fire on. I have recently started to 2pc / rainbow my supports, specifically when I want to get them to 160+ spd and it's very helpful. That 4 pc hackerspace is indeed annoying, it can throw your entire spd tuning off if your characters have different base speeds...
I've been unironically doing this since the beginning, and I'm almost tempted to say "well, duh" to this video, but then I remember how my friend spent literally half a year hypermaxing his DHIL, to get him the perfect artifacts, and because he was literally the only character he fully built, he wasn't able to do MoC or PF, because none of his other characters had anything on them. As for the artifact value: same friend, after hypermaxing his DHIL, was starting to put together other teams, and he was asking for advice. I told him to just throw the Thief set on Ruan Mei, because I was pretty sure he would have a ton of those laying around, considering he's a day-one player. Then he told me that he had none, because the tier-list sites said it wasn't the BiS for any character, so he just burned them all. So yeah, I wish this video wasn't needed, but it kind of is...
Haha, I can't relate as all my pieces are bad. Coming to this game from Genshin I know that it takes a lot of time to farm due to RNG. Recently I was able to play SU 9th world for the extra drops and a chance to get good planars for Acheron. Got a lighting piece that really early but only had crit rate for a substat and it rolled in once. I still have 3 extra triple bonus so I will prioritize that for one. You have the best guides, Guoba, my man!!!
As a newer player how do people get such good sub stats? My sub stats are a mess crit rate 14% crit dmg 200%. These drop rates on stats are harder than getting a 5 star.
if your crit ratio is like that, first step would be get a crit rate body, at least it would be more functional that way. If you're a newer player (if tl50 or lower, don't farm relics yet), you might not have had time to get very good rolls yet, but I'll give you a few hints that I use myself: Use the lock feature (I didn't know this existed for 2 months), you see crit rate crit dmg substats? Lock! No matter the set. You see ER rope or SPD boots, instant lock. You see spd substat, almost certainly a lock. You see a relic with all 3 of HP% DEF% Effres, lock imo. Then also spd + one of HP%/DEF%/effres, but that's included in spd. (it's also worth doing this with elemental dmg main stats on orbs as a newer player). You see flatHP and flatDef, you can prety safely mark the relic as discarded. I basically only start filtering these relics once I run out of space.
Oh and if you see rarer main stats, such as spd boots or elemental orbs with even one crit stat, also a lock for me. (FYI, Energy regeneration rate(rope only), speed, crit stats and elemental damage (planar orbs only) are among the rarer stats.
@@jurajojo2543 Thanks. I managed to climb pretty fast in half a year (I like to think so) currently TL:64. But these sub stats and upgrades are just so hard to get. I’ve seen a few videos of people doing mathematical rng stat duping so they can 90% of the time get the right stats upgraded but that in itself just seems confusing.
I can't believe that 3 months ago I watched this video, and it single-handedly changed the way I build my characters. I always wondered, "How do people even reach ANY speed breakpoints? I can't reach 134, much less something like 161". These days almost all my characters are on rainbow sets with really good stats, all DPS characters have 134 speed, most supports have more than 150. It became a lot easier clearing content. Thanks a lot!
I've been using 2 pc ATK/BE/SPD with other 2 pcs and I've been clearing extremely well haha only my Blade is only on 4 pc Longevus bc I need that SPD 2pcs haha so yeah I agree 4 pcs is not everything
Man, I've been telling people that rainbow relics are a perfectly viable option as far back as 1.0 now, yet every time I respond with this information to some random comment on Reddit that claims HSR's relic system is so much worse than Genshin's due to the lack of a flex slot, I get downvoted to oblivion, despite it being such a simple matter of pulling out a calculator. Like why on earth are you trying so hard to fulfill your Jingliu's 4pc ice set when you can get more than 25% cdmg from rainbow pieces? Not to mention the 4pc bonus is conditional. It makes 0 sense to me. I had that clip I pinged you on a couple weeks ago where I 0-cycled MoC 12 with Acheron and Welt sustain (thanks for the inspiration, and for dropping by!) and she was literally on complete rainbow gear at the time; I hadn't really pre-farmed for her at all. I've done a lot of farming since then and of course her damage is even higher with 4pc Pioneer now, but only benefit that's brought for me, personally, is the satisfaction of looking at bigger numbers. I think people are making this game way harder for themselves without even realizing it, lol
Been farming follow up domain for 2 months now. I have yet to see a single upgrade over my rainbow set which has 6+ sub stat rolls on every piece (aka 24/36 total) . The RNG is insane. Piece has the Right Set- 50% chance. Piece has 4 lines base? another 50% chance (assuming equal odds, don't know datamined JSON value afaik) Piece has Crit? ~6% chance Piece has Crit Dmg? ~6% chance Piece rolls into C value? 50% * 5 rolls. I think when you multiple all that together, you'd have a better chance of getting a 5* in one ten pull than you are to get a perfect relic.
My Acheron is E1, but I’m still debating on if I should use a CR or CD body for her. If I use CR I’m about 70% CR with 160% CD, but if I use the CD body I’m about 44% CR with 200% CD. In combat though, should I use the CD body, I’m sitting at around 78% crit rate actually if I add everything up. I imagine it’d be higher though were I to use the CR body. Which one should I use? In my head CD body makes more sense given the stats ( once added ) just look better. 72% CR with 200% CD.
Ive been playing gacha ever since 2014. So, I would say im pretty much numb with relic/artifacts/runes/gears grinding rng. I learnt very fast that substats is way more important than set bonus (with few exceptions). Thats why my ratio is on full rainbow piece, 65/200 CV with Herta Hunt LC, 3k ATKs and 134 spd. Its funny because his boot is from guard set and his rope is from belebog set. Never use fuel or refill energy using crystal to farm relics.
So I've been farming wrong this whole time??? 😭😭😭 I'm playing genshin too so i always prioritize the 4 set bonus before the substat like genshin, and I've been farming for my qingque for months and she still hasn't break 100 cd, honestly I already gave up at this point😢
I just don't like how mixed sets look (ocd maybe) so I still TRY to go for sets when I can, but I do have a lot of 2pc/2pc sets since I farmed the Speed set domain for so long, and speed is usually good. But I did settle for rainbow set on Sparkle, getting her to 162 speed was ROUGH. But love the vid!
This video is a saviour for relic farming haters such as I. Some may deem this cope, which may or may not be true, but I will be chilling Aside, what about an atk% vs a crit roll? My guess is that depends wildly on character kit, supports, LC, but is it safe to assume an atk% roll is almost as valuable as a crit roll?
Haha, just yesterday I have noted down all sets used by the characters I play with to see where are my best farming spots. The winner was quite obvious - World 7 and Inert Salsotto. Sure, some of those characters have theoretical better sets, but since it's 7 characters that use it (so far), I never have enough good pieces >.< As side bonus Gepard and March 7th have good choice of planars for themselves =P Also, I really hate Coccolia by now... From regular relics, Path of Darkness even though I don't use many DoT characters
Looks like I’m gonna put my dr ratio to work eventually as I do my Kafka for dot teams Since getting aventurine and picking topaz on her rerun will make my account pretty future proof but rip to my dreams of getting jingliu or prob may win consecutive 50s wish me luck my guoba charm! (Cuz I actually won 5 50/50s in a row lol)
Question from a newb that is still trying to understand relics and synergy. I'm trying to run an, Acheron, Gepard, Galleghar, and Pela comp. Yes I use Gepard for survivability because I suck at the game lol. I'm honestly having issues figuring out how to properly work the rotation as well as good relics for them. This video helped immensley with understanting relic play btw thank you! My dumbass doesn't even know where to farm for the pioneer sets so I'll need to look that up now. Regardless, does anyone have any advice for how to better understand useful set values and builds? I can copy someone elses build sure, but I feel I'd get more out of it if I properly understood the mechanics myself.
Can someone explain the result chart? For the substat rolls, where did the number 32 came from? I'm assuming each piece starts with 3 substats and roll 5 times ((3 + 5) * 4 = 32))? What about the two dashed lines? What do they represent?
My acheron has 4100 attack, 82% crit rate (in battle) and 207% crit damage (out of battle). The only set bonus i have is izumo and the rest is complete rainbow. If youre new dont get caught up too much on set bonus. Its completely possible your rainbow relics outpace the set bonus if the rolls are good enough. If they have good substats on an offset, upgrade them, no question
AKA , for sim universe just cobble the characters with the best you have, use every godly piece from every character to cobble up a team and for MoC and forgotten hall get as many decent pieces as you can to be able to make 8 good characters. Perf set with sub stats isn't x2 better than a set with 20-30% less crit dmg and -300 atk Also if you go for sets , go for sets that are usable with many characters, don't go for niche sets that only work on 1-2 characters unless they are a top tier unit. What's the point of 3 cyclying the first boss if it takes you 10 cycles for the 2nd, just get everyone to a similar performance and then work from there. Don't go big from the start, go low and slowly upgrade your way through. Did I get this right?
Me personally I aim for a minimum of 2 piece sets with good subs before I get a good enough 4 piece. For example, I use welt with 2 speed and 2 atk pieces. Edit: I also use the Izumo set cause I got a really cracked imaginary sphere while farming my acheron set. Also didn’t have welt until last week.
I believe the recommendation has always been main stat > sub stat > set bonus, except for the really good set bonuses. When you farm artifacts and relics in genshin and hsr for 3 years, you start intuitively realizing what's good and what's not. 2p hackerspace is really good because speed is a rare substat, but it's technically only worth about 3 substat rolls. 2p hp is also only worth about 3 substats so it's not even that necessary to run, even on hp scaling healers. As mentioned, there aren't really good 4p support sets on the level of VV. I spent a lot of time farming longevous and quantum sets for dps that a lot of my supports have really good 2p hackerspace + 2p wuthering or some similar combination with thief/musketeer/healing.
this with the 300% drop that's running right now is really reassuring. i get really good off set pieces for my dps but im really coping for my on set pieces. i never realized "rainbow" was viable... i've been conditioned my genshin ;-;

Nah, I’ve been using only rainbow sets and I still can’t get all stats in MoC. Day one player, not skipping a single day. The game just sucks in relic department. I’m not buying all the ‘HSR devs are so cool and generous’, no, they are not, they disrespect you so much with these relics.
Echo of war is always efficient for relic fodder anyways, not even including all the extra stuff you get from it. Not just “early and mid game” It’s wild to me that some people don’t do their 3 per week.
NOT GUOBA POSTING THIS VID AFTER SWITCHING MY RATIO TO A PIONEER SET WITH A CRIT RATIO OF 75/180 & 3.4K ATK TODAY. HE WAS ON 2PC ATK + 2PC DUKE PREVIOUSLY, BUT THE CURRENT SET IS MILES BETTER.
I had to explain all of this to my friends while they were trying to build Sparkle because the Genshin brain couldn't fathom not having a set bonus. Now I have an actual good source to link them. 🙏
When I was considering what planars to farm for the triple drop event, between W6 for Saltotto and W7 for Keel, I came to the conclusion that W7 was the better play because for my purposes literally half of W6 (Belobog set) is almost automatic trash. While I have 4+ characters who would love a lot of chances at Salsotto, it made the most sense to me to go for W7 because Rutilant is a fine enough pickup and I can instead spend relic fragments to roll Salsotto pieces.
So I got a Penacony rope with HP main stat with cr, cd, effect res and speed in sub stats, I'm planning to put that on Blade if I don't get anything better for him untill I get him
I've farm the physical set for like 2 months plus 20 to 30 bottles of energy and i didn't get a single decent piece for my clara or my sushang, so I filtered my relics in crit and atk% sub stats and get insane ratios in my clara with 2 pieces musketeer and 2 random pieces, i've been playing my clara that way since like 5 to 6 MoC rotations
I’m still hoping we get a new effect hit planar set 😭2 pc gives 10 EHR and the the other part gives you like 5 cr and 10 cd stacking up to 10 times would be perfect for welt pela and silver wolf 😭
