I was unaware of the unicorn being used, and was expecting more people to say space, as in Ace in Space. I also saw a tumblr post about how the current ace community aren't as aware of our symbols like cake and rings and dragons as we used to be which I found really odd as the symbols were quite a big part of ace expression when I discovered my aroace ness about 8 years ago. And your confusion over Paddington I was doing the same when you mentioned it

The pie chart is beautifully done. I like the color scheme and I like the images inside the chart. It is a very fun aesthetic and it is neatly polished.😊 (And yes, I probably sound way to enthousiastic about a chart, but the flip side of 'don't speak if you have nothing nice to say' is 'speak when you have something nice to say')
While behavior does not equate to orientation, I have never seen a dragon having sex. Also, if a vampire says they would rather eat garlic bread, they are probably sex-repulsed. (The aromantic ring is typically white or silver and worn on the middle finger of the left hand.)
The aro ring (white indeed!) seems to be worn on the middle finger of the left hand. And do not wear the ace ring on any other than the middle finger. I read elsewhere that a black ring on the other fingers of the right hand is a sign of the swingers. And that they seem to be aware of us aces and therefore making an effort to leave the middlefinger for us.
Question: I want an ace black ring but i don't wear rings on my finger. Can I put a chain though it and wear as a necklace or does it have to be on your fingrer.?
Probably Paddington as the plot of his story consists of feeling out of place, and not understanding how humans are - but ultimately finding solace in friendship/found family? I do realise that I just made him sound rly angsty lol

I like the flags, of course, and some of the other things, too, but I think my favorite symbol in the a-spec community is the ring. I wear mine every day and love it! I definitely understand your reasoning for the unicorn perhaps being the better representation of the ace community that the dragon, but in the bisexual community, a unicorn is known as a bisexual woman (usually) that is willing to get picked up by couples to go and do the the you-know-what. Something like that is unfortunately a sterotype about bisexuals amongst many heteros that is very much an exception in the communitey, rather than the rule, therefore, those who are actually into that are indeed difficult to find (like a unicorn). There is even the term "unicorn hunting" for couples trying to find someone like that. So personally, I would definitely want to stay away from that term. I like the dragon more than unicorns because unicorns already have that association with being gay. Even though if we actually look at the symbolism it would make more sense for the associations to be reversed(like you said)... what's done is done, they already got the unicorn I think we should just leave it be. Another way to look at it where dragons sort ofake sense, is that dragons are scary and seem to threaten society... but really when you think about it they're only a problem if you step on their toes by intentionally misunderstanding them and starting shit by stealing their gold, killing them, invading their territory etc That's kinda parallel to aces. So many different groups think we're "against" them... even though the only reason we have any sort of quarrel is because they won't just leave us be and/or accept us as we are. Some christians hate us for not reproducing or getting married like "God wanted"... even though ace=/=sex repulsed, even though many aces are married or have kids, even though they also praise celibacy, even though Jesus never had sex 🤷♀️ Some LGBT+ are aphobic and reject us being part of the community/pride claiming we're preventing their embracing/celebrating sexuality sexually... even though aces in general are extremely sex positive, even though aces have varying levels of sexual activity (again ace=/= repulsed), even though aces have always been a part of supporting other sexualities in major movements and have never done anything against the rest of the LGBT+. In theory we should be able to coexist with everyone. But we get hated on for no reason.

I actually really don't like mythical creatures as aspec symbols. I'm sure it has its value, but I don't like the aspec community being seen as not real/obscure. I just want people to recognize that it's one of the many normal ways to be a human :/
