If you're traveling to Japan with a lot of luggage and kids, you have to check out the takuhaibin/takkyubin service! It's like deliver and storage at the same time!
The two most popular service providers are:
Kuroneko Yamato: www.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/ytc/en/
Sagawa: www.sagawa-exp.co.jp/english/...

Just returned from Japan (14 day trip) a month ago. Used the baggage transport a couple of times. Shipped from hotel to hotel. Helps if you have a copy of the next hotel reservation so they don't have to call to confirm your stay. Spent around $40 to send two medium size check-ins. Our friends spent $50 to send their two larger size check-ins. One of my check-ins arrived with the handle ripped loose. Oh well. Be aware that the train stations are crazy crowded, especially during commute times (all the time). Signage and station maps are terrible as there are so many trains, different levels, and platforms. Remember google map is blind inside a train station. Ask often, station workers and drivers are very helpful. Backpacks are a necessity. Spinner luggage is preferred. Pull luggage is frowned upon and dangerous to others. Enjoy as the dollar right now is very strong.

Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about the handle!! Ohhhhhh yes during commute times you will get shoved in with no space so luggage is a BIIIIG hassle! The transportation system is definitely difficult without being able to read Japanese but we actually found Apple Maps to be more useful with transit! Yes station people are super helpful - was language an issue with them for you? The dollar is so strong right now!!

Incredible service! The cost is not expensive and worth every penny. We used it from Tokyo to Kyoto to Hiroshima to Fukuoka! Luggage on a Shinkansen is totemo urusai! (A real pain!)

6 years living here, p sure Japan's takuhai and yuubin service are one of the best in the world. Even normal non-registered mail, if it gets lost somehow (maybe becos of uncleared/wrong address), I can call the the post office and they just find it. Never have any lost letter/parcel so far and I use both takuhai/yuubin a lot. (An avid Mercari user).

Amy, in a future video could you please discuss how to ship boxes back home to the US from Japan? We'd like to ship stuff home during our stay in Japan. I know it can be costly, but I think it will be worth it. Thank you 🙏❤️

Yes! Thank you for the suggestion a- I’ll have to ask my family about that since what we have mostly done is stuff suitcases that are shipped to the airport then get checked in the past. We have rarely shipped home but happy to research and ask people that have!

On our most recent trip to Japan we went to a Post Office and shipped a large suitcase home (which is Malaysia for us). The cost was reasonable. Less than what it would have cost us to continue shipping or storing the suitcase in Japan. We shipped it slow boat and it took a couple months, but arrived in good shape. 🌸Heidi

Thanks for the input! Now I’m curious what was shipped -Just clothes you wouldn’t need for 3 months?
