I still have a veryyyyyyy strong wish to have a launchkey mini with 37 keys. Novation please! Like the other one by a known brand who did this with their mini too. It would change everything, please!
Beat me to it! For a company that has a reputation for updating their products, now to abandon their flagship controller is a shame. Especially when hardware can handle it. Dear Novation, update the SL MK3 firmware! Sincerely, Every SL MK3 owner PS My number one wish: more MIDI CC Banks for the Knobs.
We’re very sorry to hear about your concerns. While the SL MkIII hasn’t been "abandoned", it’s true that it doesn’t have some of the features introduced in the Launchkey [Mk3] range, which came out a few years later. We really value your feedback on this and will share your comments with our team. Thank you for reaching out! 👍
Thanks, I knew I wasn't using these features to the maximum potential. I had no idea if you used Fixed Chord and the Arp together you got a basic little sequencer!
This is a really useful video, especially for new producers. Well done!!! I swear by my Launchkey Mini & Launchkey 49!!! Novation controllers are always top class!!
If you happen to have 2 desktop midi keyboards you can put them side by side and set one an octave higher than the other. That's what i did. problem solved, giving you 50 keys+. Any cheap keyboards with pads and knobs will do.
Its also probably cool to mention that the latest firmware update also gives midi visual feedback back to the controller. If a midi clip is playing it will show the notes that are being triggered on the pads. They light up green. Works on all modes that have the corresponding notes being played as the current viewed notes on pads.
It's a bit weird that the title mentions "Mini", the presenter mentions the Mini, but a lot of the features mentioned are not existing in the Launchkey MINI Mk3, like the scale mode 😞
That's right, apologies for any confusion that this may have caused. Here we're working with Launchkey 25 [Mk3]. Launchkey Mini [Mk3] features Fixed Chord Mode but not the Scale Chord Mode and User Chord Modes demonstrated here.
I got the 37 key novation a few years ago. Awesome for playing midi stuff at home or studio. However I would not use it on stage for a live preformance.
Would love to see a series of this exact same thing but for the MK3, all the little tips and tricks. In fact, the Bass Station and Summit/peak too. Please!!!!!!!

I have been producing music and playing live with a midi keyboard for more than 4 years and I always told myself exactly the same thing but it turns out that I was fooling myself, it is very necessary live and in the studio to have a midi controller with at least 61 keys , the 25-key one is ideal only and only when you are going to work outside the home
when in any of those pad modes, is there any dynamics or velocity sensitivity to them or are they always 100% full? Similar to the Chord mode on the LPPMK3
Yes, they are all expression enabled velocity sensitive in the pad modes. You can change the velocity curve in the settings of the pads to soft, normal, hard, or off. (same options on the keys btw) Hope this helps!
Just curious if in Scale Chords Mode is possible to press a Chord pad and set the 1st or 2nd Inversion for that specific chord and perhaps save that whole collection as a preset
This isn't possible I'm afraid as Scale Chord Mode provides you with banks of predefined chords that can't be edited but you could use User Chord Mode to assign up to six-note chords of your choosing to each pad. These will also be saved to the hardware. However, Launchkey Mini [Mk3] has only got the Fixed Chord Mode so you'll need to look at our larger models if you want User Chord and Scale Chord Modes. Hope that helps! 🙏
That's not a hardware feature but you can create a split with each zone outputting on a different MIDI channel. In software you could then use instrument transpose or a tool like Ableton Live's Pitch MIDI effect to achieve this.
@@NovationTV I use Bome Midi Translator for this propose. But i wondered why nobody is implementing this feature on hardware level. It's like left handed guitar but on keyboard!. Alo of fun to play like that.
Are you referring to Custom Modes? If so, that's always been possible. You aren't limited to Cloud storage. Just select 'Save' from the menu and then select Save/Save As to save locally or Download the content to a location of your choice 👍
That's right. We're fortunate enough to have many different keyboards here at Novation HQ but we wanted to demonstrate how it's possible to use the features that are packed into Launchkey [Mk3] to access a broad range of notes even when working with 25 keys.
