It's taking me some time to work through the edits for these but I'm getting there 😅 Was originally planning to wait to start FFX until after I'd posted all my XVI videos, but I think I'm just going to start X sometime soon anyway, I can be catching up on these uploads in the meantime. Still a lot of amazing FF ahead. Final fantasy 10 is in most fans top 3. The Soundtrack in this one is amazing. Final Fantasy XII is the most divisive of any FF game mainly because they drastically changed the combat system from the classic turn base so it generated a lot of hate upon release. Years later this title is slowly climbing _everyone's_ list as the most underappreciated FF ever. You can find quite a few reviewers out here on YT admitting as much. Best voice acting in this one. Final Fantasy Tactics: Kinetic 3D "chess" using FF rules. Most replay value of any FF title. Amazing storytelling. VII XII and Tactics are my personal favorites I'll keep an eye out for when you get to these.

I really liked Jill's story, she's a very calm and reserved character whilst still being feminine and I really liked how she expressed anger without losing control. I feel like in most final fantasy games the woman are usually very girly or very tomboy, and Jill is one of the first more balanced realistic grown woman. She also balances out Clive who is very emotionally outspoken.
If we could have played as Jill/Shiva on the island I think it would've had greater impact. One of the limitations of the game is not allowing you to control any characters other than Clive in battle. The demo showed how they could do it when Joshua was controllable in battle briefly, and I think if they incorporated more of that it might make certain story beats more impactful.
I agree with you about the side quests. Like yes, from a gameplay perspective, they're not "fun", but from a world/character building perspective, they're really nice. It feels like the game did its best to not leave loose ends in the story (for the most part) and filled it with little moments that tie a nice ribbon on these side moments. It made me care a lot more about random NPC #23, while in other games I'm just like "shut up already! Stop spewing exposition!" Lol
For sure. I do think perhaps they could’ve managed to convey a similar feeling through slightly better means but even still what they did do meant something to me and that’s important. They won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I’m glad I could appreciate what they were shooting for.
