@@kanonchan4122 I told they are making the movie and its a typo as I was busy and on my phone I made this comment and I learned English for fun and to watch movies, English is my third language and there is nothing to bruh about that unless you are trying to edgy
Just thinking about this anime makes me cry like a baby . I love this movie so so much , and everybody who watched it can totally understand that i believe
If you ever want to hear it by itself, the song is called Sparkle by RADWIMPS. They're one of my favorite J-Rock bands and their music is on RU-vid and Spotify. I don't know about itunes or anything else though. In fact, Spotify has the whole soundtrack!
@@niallv14 Yeah i agree. Its a great movie don't get me wrong but if you think its the best Animated movie ever than you need to get your toes out of the sliced banana bread and actually watch other animated movies.
@@tender3545 it's not the best it can't be after all shinkai will create a more complete and tear jerking story again someday and in my opinion your name is my favourite animated film ever I'm not saying it's the best but its the one that connected with me the most
@@dgdeni I respect that bro :) Your Name is not a bad movie by any means and in my opinion most of the second half is as good as every says your name is. My personal favorite movie is A Silent Voice, It is an uncompleted story but it connected with me the most so I understand what your saying. The best animated movie probably would go to a studio ghibli film
1:12 Yeah I really hate that too. It’s like, Miyazaki is Miyazaki and Shinkai is Shinkai. He’s not the Miyazaki of this generation, he’s the himself of this generation
I don't know if you watch basketball but Kobe said the same thing about himself "I don't want to be the next Michael Jordan,I want to be the next Kobe Bryant" it kinda reminds me of that in a way like I want to be the best version of myself not better than someone else otherwise it loses meaning if you achieve it.
Angelo Francisco It's very complicated but no, mitsuha is the same age as taki. I also asked myself this question and thought about it, if you want me to explain, reply.
Angelo Francisco the way I see it is different. Maybe I'm wrong but hear me out, SPOILER ALERT you know how taki is exchanging bodies with mitsuha from 3 years before Taki's current year. Mitsuha visited Taki but he didn't know her because he was from three years before. So basically if you add it up Taki should technically be the same age as mitsuha. Maybe I'm wrong and this is a stupid way at looking at it idk
The Shape of Voice (A Silent Voice) film is scheduled to be released on Blu-ray in Japan toward the end of May. There is no word yet on a US release, but it was subtitled for its theatrical release in the UK, so hopefully it will be licensed over here and we will get a release within a few months. Fingers crossed. Your Name is available for a tentative pre order for October 30th on Amazon UK site, so our release should be around the same time frame. Obviously this can change.
THEAMERICANCUBANO omg if it went that way I would’ve thrown my phone. At the ending scene I was like bro! How hard is it to come up to her and say “I think I know you from somewhere and from your reaction I think you know me as well.” I thought it was going to be like 5 centimeters over again lol
I looked at the end of the manga and there it is even closer if I remember right. I think there he just opens his mouth without saying anything because the mange ends it right there. When I saw it I was like "Dude, if I had read that manga first I would have flipped tables all day long."
He was gonna pull a 5cps moment on us if you don’t know 5cps was a movie that shinkai made in 2007 I’m not gonna go in details but the same scene happens like in your name but at a train track and they don’t look back and just go forward
Watched this with my girlfriend and im not typically the one into lovey dovey movies but this movie was absolutely stunning from everything to the story and characters to the animation and how they made everything so beautiful. I mean they had so so much detail in the animation and will hands down go down as one of my favorite movies.
the old man that taki met while looking for mitsu was actually mitsu’s dad, remember how mitsu tried to warn him about the comet and he didn’t believe her. He ended up surviving the comet and lived with that regret that’s why when taki brought up otomori at the ramen shop he seemed too hold resentment.
you sure???? because that guy was married again to some old lady and mitsuha´s dad was really tied to his old marriage (Check the manga / vn / whatever )
Some of the magic falls apart when one realises the plot only works when the two teenagers _didn't bother to check any calendar at home, hometown, school, and especially their own phones_ to realise they were separated by time as well. A beautiful production, still. Much more happier than Shinkai's previous works of depression.
Hey if you watched Garden of Words you can see the date of a letter wrote by Akizuki to Yukino ( 2014 ) and the Itomori thing happened in 2013 and I guess she was there too cause she appears in the movie, so that means Garden of Words story is after your name ^^?
SiR PuFFaRiN Yup! And if (SPOILER ALERT) mitsuha hadnt saved the town that means Garden of the Words would have never happened. Which means that Your Names plot makes Garden Of the Words plot.
Its Spookyy you should also watch five centimeters per second, it has the same idea as this movie of young two meeting. It's also made by the same author. Another you should watch is the girl who leapt through time. I loved that movie too. It's about a girl who suddenly has the ability to leap to whatever time she wants, and another high school friend, it's a romance slash comedy. I don't want to spoil to much. You should watch the children who chase lost voices, it's about adventure and fantasy and it's wonderful. If you haven't, also watch wolf children. It's about these two siblings being raised by their mum and kinda finding themselves I guess? It's a comedy and adventure. All of these are my top favourites. I recommend all of them to you. Some of these you can find on YT but others you'll have to go on a website to watch it. They are all anime movies too. Lastly, watch a short anime movie called garden of words. It's a romance also, about these two people meeting each other that don't know who each other are but start to get along etc. WATCH THESE ALL. YOU WONT REGRET IT.
Im MAD Well, no. These movies are very unique in their style, and they are all similar because they were made by the same person. You aren’t going to find anything like them. Besides, the anime-movie world is very tiny and it’s essentially comprised of only these movies, as well as Kyoto Animation movies and Ghibli Studio, but both of those companies have movies that, while extremely good too, they are nothing like Shinkai’s movies in style. They have their own style to them too.
I like how movie gets funny and get changed to feeling of out of world. I can't get over to this movie. It's not sad but the feeling after watching whole movie is different.
I cant help but to get my eyes watery every time i hear that song on the background, this movie speaks to me in so many levels. Just beautiful the way it is.
During the body switching, they both went to school. They also communicated by leaving notes on their phones. Wouldn't you think that they would have noticed the year difference, since on the phone and in schools dates are seen very often? Good movie nonetheless.
To be fair, to them, the body switching was like being in a dream. Most people would probably not look much into dates and times in a dream, or the perception of time can be skewed while in a dream.
cgRui34 However, they did realize that they really weren't in dream and even set up rules to protect their lifestyles. Also, the "Swiping calendar on phone scene" happens quite often, so my point still stands :)
Definitely one of the loopholes in the plot. I'm guessing the time difference was purposely shoved under the rug to make the twist have more impact lol. Looking back at the screens though, the calendar/diary app on their phones conveniently did not have the year indicated. Only the month, date, day and time are displayed on the entries :)) I think another loophole would be the characters/people in Taku's timeline not remembering much about the town of Itomori, considering the meteorite incident was considered a huge natural catastrophe that would've gotten quite the media mileage. Again, this was also probably done to give more impact to the twist.
Yes. Lots and lots of plot devices. Still, if you think about it, the time difference is necessary for the body switching to work, since if they are in the same time zone, then they would both be asleep, making a switch impossible. A time difference is crucial, even if it's by one day. These plot holes didn't keep me from getting emotional though.
I thought that too. They would've called each other immediately or at least would went to see each other and search for their bodies. I would be freaking out if I didn't know if my body was safe. Instead they just go to school and work. They didn't even know where the other one was living. When Mitsuha went to Tokyo she just aimlessly runs around the town and doesn't know Taki's work place or home. Taki doesn't remember the village's name although they both had to be familiar with the places. I think that and the reason why their friends couldn't remember neither anything is that it was really dreamlike. They just remembered the feeling, forgot everything else. There was a religious undertone like Taki was sent by God to save the people and since Mitsuha was religious she deserved it. After saving her they forgot about each other because the people were safe and there was no other reason to stay connected but their love and bound was that strong that they never forgot the feeling.
Bros I think they r of same age of 25 or 26 Becoz when mitsuha goes to tokyo to meet taki then from director perspective taki is 14 and mitsuha is 17 but still taki looks similar, in 14-17 age there will be huge difference and when she says im sorry then he says weird girl means she is off same age or less than him Thats why i think their age is 26 at last scene. That is actually taki is 20 and mitsuha is 17 where they meet that day of comet strike
Its 2020 and to me this is still the greatest movie I have seen. Animated or not. Hands down the best movie I have seen in my life. Weathering with you which was Shinkai's latest movie is great as well but Your Name is on another level.
One thing not mentioned: when Taki slips and falls in the body of the shrine god, for a brief moment, he sees the drawing of the comet on the ceiling, meaning if the people tending the shrine had ever bothered to look up, they'd have learned the meaning of the ritual they performed.
I love your name! It's a beutiful movie. I watched it but I could not find the English dub :( but I still love it! Especially the ending when they meet.
I know I'm too late to watch this movie. But, goodness I cried so much watching this film. This movie is a masterpiece and omg. My eyes are teary again while typing this because I still remember every scene. My poor heart. 😭😭😭
i watched it the first time at cinema, soo fell in love with it, cried buckets (i watched it alone even!). when i went home, i tried to do some research about the film, esp the geniuses behind the ost, found a streaming and watched it again again for how many days straight. Watched it again at the cinema after a week, and bought on iTunes the ost. it's been a year since and it's still my ringtone/alarm tones on my phone :)
The creator said the movie was unfinished and people should stop loving it.....Yet they can't stop us ^~^......Its bittersweet meeting them at the start and saying goodbye afterwards.
I’ve never met anyone who has watched your name. It’s not famous enough. Beautiful animation and storytelling. Up there with Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, and Akira.
i never once thought about ghibli throughout watching this film tbh, i feel like people would only say that the director would be the "next Miyazaki" would be because of the awe and the beauty of the animation, but if this were a ghibli film I feel like they wouldn't make it so intricate as the orginal director has put Your Name
