Synopsis: Mitsuha and Taki are total strangers living completely different lives. "Just voice actors"?? Do you think "real" actors are somehow better at voicing animated characters than voice actors? That is 100% not true. And Debbie was talking about the overall 'acting' as in their expressions and movement and everything else. Animation allows for a lot more freedom and involvement from a team than if one person was to act out his/her interpretation in person.

Actually Mitsuha said that she want to be an 'Ikemen'.. Ikemen has the various meaning.. Generally Ikemen means a cool looking man/boy.. But it can also be interpreted as 'a metropolis teen with their modern lifestyle' , and i'm sure thats the actual meaning of the phrase in this film..

Fun fact : When you realise while learning japanese that "kimi" (君の) = "your" and that this prounoun can be affectionate and polite when used by a boyfriend/husband to call his girlfriend/wife. (it can be impolite in other cases). Kimi no namae wa = What's your name. Like japanese people must've been "What ? How can he not know his gf's name while they're in couple ?". Anyways it was just a fun fact I wanted to share :).

There are some people that don't understand how people like this movie so much: the reason is EMOTIONS. If you didn't feel anything i can undestand why you didn't like it, in fact the movie doesn't have that much to offer other than that. Sure animations are great, you can make a review out of those things, but you can't "review" emotions: you either feel it or don't.

James Alexander I'm still bawling my eyes out! I never knew what I needed in life until watching this movie and that isn't an exaggeration. I'm not even a big anime fan, but I love Japanese animated movies. I can honestly say that this movie changed my life.

이 영화를 본것은 초등학교 시절.. 타지에서 머물다가 서울로 돌아와 반가운 절친과 이 영화를 보러갔던 때였다. 별생각 없이 고른 영화였으나, 초고급 작화와 웅장하면서 아름다운 음악이 만드는 영화의 매력에 사로잡힌 나는 영화가 끝난 후에도 멍하니… 적막속에서 여운에 잠겨있었다. 세월이 흐른뒤에도 그때 그 감동을 능가하는 감정을 느끼지 못한걸 보면, 이 영화를 본것은 분명 내 인생의 전무후무한 최고의 추억으로 남을것 같다. 이런 멋진 영화를 만들어준 신카이 마코토 감독에게 정말 감사하다는 말밖에 할 수 없을듯 하다.🇯🇵🇰🇷

I think the trailer really underrates the movie and doesn't show all of its potential, unlike the American trailers which overrate the movies......My brother showed this movie to me and, although i'm not an anime passionate, IT WAS AWESOME!!! This movie changed my whole perspective about animes and I'm glad it happened this way.

After their meet in the twilight,when taki was yelling that he does remember his name and nothing will happen,he'll not forget it anymore and he tries to write her name himself in his hand that moment and the reaction when he stopped and said who r u.....just broke my heart into pieces....I was so lost I even screamed that taki write down her name already but he started yelling who r u?what's ur name? And started crying and that time the song sparkle just played....I...i...(actually no words)needs a big heart to endure the pain bro.

i tried this on a girl i saw pass by. I felt a real connection with her. Tears rolled down my eyes. I held her hand and demanded her name. she slapped me so hard i later woke up in a hospital wing. Goddamnit.
