Him saying “I don’t use human logic” might be the most helpful thing I’ve heard from all of your podcasts. Sometimes things can look so good you think, there’s gotta be deer here. But like he said If there’s no sign then I ain’t huntin it. There’s a reason the deer aren’t there and you shouldn’t care why. I love that.

The video in the field with him made me buy his book. They way he had both yall walk the trails from the pinch point until the area where they were closest was something I never considered. I figure if I can learn that in a 20 min video, I will learn alot more from the book.

I'm telling ya I've used a great spray for years now that will help extremely when hunting sketchy winds. You'll probably laugh at me for it but deer dander from Fitzgerald's really works as a cover scent. I've used it for 25 years now and it seems to almost relax deer if the winds swirling and they get on the wrong side of your set. Another thing I've used is sweet anise seed. When hanging sets early in the year I'll broadcast the seed around the immediate area and hit it randomly through our the season. Then when I hunt a set that I've put the seed around I'll use a little diluted oil as a cover scent it works as well. I know these seem a little far fetched but it works pretty well in certain spots where the wind seems to swirl a lot or you have bad thermals

He's referring to a old company called elimitrax it leaves zero ground scent ,he's praised them for years they don't make them anymore but there the real deal for ground scent I've got 2 pairs they absolutely work i use it for checking cams all summer deer will not catch your trail scent. But can still smell u down wind no doubt.

I think leaving cameras year around on funnels and then making a calendar of what you get is a pretty good strategy to use year after year
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen 6 дней назад
That's something Michael Perry has discussed on the podcasts quite a bit in the past and works well for him. Definitely worth doing in the right funnels.

Guys! You shouldn't use the term "Masterclass." The term has been so abused it's now synonymous with infomercial. Usually, when I see the word masterclass on something, Iscroll right on by. If I hadn't noticed the name Southern Outdoorsman, I would have just kept scrolling. I just happened to see the name as I scrolled it off the screen, so I came back.
