I feel like early Netflix was awesome, because they had so many options. Recently Netflix has gotten pretty lame because of all these networks pulling their shows and starting their own streaming services. Netflix would probably still be huge if they had everything, but they're stuck with so little

In regards to offloading the editing, you could have a sort of "assistant" editor (probably in-house?) who would basically do all the tedious stuff, such as: pulling the data off the cards, finding the cuts, color correction, audio syncing, etc. Then Katelyn could come in and do the artistic stuff... the customizing, so to speak. Another thing you could try is doing two videos in tandem -- one that is 100% Katelyn edits, and another that is 90% another editor (with the 10% review by Katelyn). That would allow for the experimentation (and also making examples for the editor), but also offloading to another editor, without too much creative deviation (?). But yeah, that allows some scalability for the future in terms of production. Food for thought.

Perhaps! It's hard to offload that stuff because we usually film for a couple hours and then I edit that stuff right after, and seeing what that edit is so far helps us film the rest of the video, so it's tough to hand that off

I'm an outlier of your age group watching RU-vid more than Netflix at 56 years old. I mostly watch your genre, science/engineering and cosplay videos. Additionally, I've not watched "regular" TV for a few years. The last thing I watched on Netflix was Stranger Things Season Three. Lastly, I think I've got the wife hooked on your channel too!

I think you guys could go to a 3/month schedule and upload on the 10th, 20th,30th and you'd basically be building in a buffer each week (assuming you keep your production rate the same) without feeling like you're "skipping a week".

I absolutely love all the topics you guys come up with for the podcasts. It’s made me realize how similar Evan and I are. We are both very deep thinkers about things we find interesting or are passionate about. I often find myself having to pause the podcast because Evan starts talking about something that I can tell he’s thought a lot about. And then I’m like whoa that’s really interesting, and it sends my brain into deep though mode about it. If I don’t end up pausing the podcast I end up having to rewind several minutes to get back to where I was before. It’s like my brain and soul leave my body sometimes... I can feel them return when my thought has ended. Haha

collaborations can boost your channel, that is the best way for more viewers that like that kind of videos to know you. its very hard to find a channel you like on youtube on your own. thats how i got most of my subscriptions.

I love the dedication to the 42 gag! Also, I find that most days when I get home, while I'm eating dinner, I just turn on RU-vid from the old PS3. And that ends up being my viewing for the evening if I'm not careful. And I'm 47!

I watch RU-vid and don't even subscribe to Netflix -- and I am older than 24, but if you were referring to IQ I am good. Was Katelyn wearing her Wonder Woman outfit while going through the haunted house? Do you ever put a costume on the Supervisor? A great video could be your making a scary scene to put in front of your house for "trick or treaters". I had a cute little ballerina thing ring the door and say: "twick or tweet". I said to her "OK, trick". She started whimpering and then started crying. I said "OK, OK, tweet." And I gave her extra candy. Kids are so adorable.

I think often you would not get ads on a paid product like netflix. I also watch youtube all the time, but im almost never on netflix (im 18) and it has been like this for the past 10 or so years

Netflix vs RU-vid. In my situation, I have seen most of the movies in Netflix (or at least movies that I find interesting) while in RU-vid, aside from the channels I've subscribed, there are things that I didn't know I found interesting until I stumble into them. Once, I spent the whole afternoon watching a guy talk about his ants (antscanada).

I’m 41 and watch YT more then Netflix as well. If it’s because I’m always looking around as being “non standard” or that I’m simply seeing where the most interesting content is... not necessarily age related in that case. :)

I am 20 tomorrow and I like RU-vid because you see can see really creative things and more important things surprising and not excepted like 2 persons building a catcus cat house with rope and a big balloon. That was one shoking and entertaining video I have ever seen. Good job keep doing more fun vidos when you feel you want too!

Now see my family has already set up for Christmas. We are a blended family. The year this started we weren’t able to come down to the other part of the family for Christmas, so after my dad proposed we went home and the next day we set up the tree so we could do it as a family. Now it’s tradition

There is a new show called Living WIth Yourself that is hilarious. I also enjoy Working Mom's which is a canadian based comedy special. A-Typical is a good family oriented one if you like something more mellow and interesting to watch. Have you two watchted the Invader Zim movie special on Netflix?!?!?! it is short but AMAZING!

"The videos [of other content creators] take 48 hours to film and edit." THIS! On our channel (other, not this one) we do home reno and some of those projects take weeks to complete. It gets challenging to think of filler videos to keep the channel going on weeks there aren't major projects. And we're so new we want to stay on a weekly sch for now. With you guys on scheduling out 2 months in advance. It's more organized but super stressful if things derail the project for even a few hours.

Yeah, it's tough!! Maybe larger projects could be broken down into smaller parts, we have content creator friends that do that with their home reno's (ie, part one is installing new floors, part two is making built ins, part three is paint, decor, light fixtures, etc)

I'm at around 10 mins in. I've not noticed any drop in quality ever in your videos. They are consistently interesting, engaging and funny. I'm wondering if the stats are caused by RU-vid and its stupid way of showing and not showing videos to us viewers, like stuff will not come up in my home feed (I watch on roku) and I have to go to the actual channels to find the videos. So I think it's their fault, not yours, and they are making you second guess yourselves when there is no need. You have a winning formula here, you are funny and cute together and you inspire the I WANNA DO THAT urge big time, and you have an excellent cat. It's all good!

I'm 34 and at this point (at least for the past year) I've been watching more youtube than netflix. Of course there are shows I LOVE on Netflix but there really are so many awesome people on youtube and I can be entertained by it for sooooooooo much longer than Netflix. For youtube, I will often have it playing on one of my screens while I work. I don't do that with netflix unless it's maybe a show I've seen a bunch of times and just want background noise like Parks & Rec or Friends.

Just watch catnest video, first what I have check from your main channel. I was just following this channel, your main channel is super. About catnest, what happent to cat if you put in plastic bag? Just wondering couple holes for air flow might be nice. Also try to put some wood under the nest then hole is more accessable height.

Do you follow The Sorry Girls? They have had success not only hiring an editor, but hiring a second and having him learn to keep the feeling seamless. I suspect it is one of those difficult processes that is ultimately worth it.

The numbers you're talking about for Netflix on the premier of Stranger Things 3 is for the US only, and does not account for all the worldwide views!! Netflix also released it's own numbers saying Globally ST3 hit almost 41 million unique household views.

I don't think you can honestly compare RU-vid with Netflix. You can't compare a newspaper to a hardcover like for example a Harry Potter.

so I learned that the internet likes cat videos, practical videos (how to maximize space in a small guest room) and unique videos (what strange thing can we do with resin this week!). I am, what is now called "older people" I guess (even older than evan, gasp!), and I consume more youtube than netflix because I think i feel less bad about not giving it my full attention. I feel like I can just throw it on while I clean the bathroom and since I didn't pay for I don't feel bad about missing half of what's going on. RU-vid content tends to be a bit more freeform, so like a minecraft video, if you miss the middle 15 minutes of a video, you aren't going to be that lost per say while watching the end of it. Generally making it easier to consume while doing a billion other things.

RU-vid has been around longer and is way more relatable. And free :) And quite fair, the quality of Netflix is not always great, they have some great series, but the filler content is not worth it to me, I rather watch youtube (I am 31) My man and I have basically stopped watching Netflix, we rather play video games or watch RU-vid. We might test the amazon prime in a month where we have time to binge.

I had to undergo a mountain of online management training this week, and one of the videos covered "Z'ers" and how to motivate them and what they want. The #1 career goal of 13-24 year olds is: being a youtube'r. By the way, afaik, you are in Dallas. My makerspace is hosting a Halloween Party, and the theme is "SuperVillain Lair", so everyone is frantically making SUPER DANGEROUS "performance art pieces" including a "fire tornado" If I could post a pic link, I would. Facebook search "Acme Creative Collective Dallas" and you'll find it. My contribution is "Sharks with frickin lasers on their heads" and I'm working frantically on basically hand-out laser pointers that are shark-shaped. As I type this, yall are explaining why you don't do parties anymore, so I'm increasingly wondering why I'm both-

Kids of today are glued to their phones, so its no surprise to me that RU-vid is becoming more popular. i think that both need to exist though, or it'll be a real shame to lose great Tv, simply because it cheaper and easier to put out a 10 minute video on youtube for the same viewership. It's kinda like where mobile apps are taking over console games and the same sort of situation with mobile apps being very cheap to make vs big multi million $ games on consoles. Sony are potentially pulling out of the console market after the PS5 and were advised to do that after the PS3 :(. Kids are dictating the future and the future is looking very grim to me right now :(.

I recently got into the channel and have been going the all the podcasts (already love the main channel content!!). Just an IMO, but it feels like the focus for your recent podcasts has been just the work aspects and how you guys are overworked and things like that. I mean of course I understand that its still a job even if you're having fun, but its been quite repetitive and almost comes across as...complaining? Not to put you guys down, I definitely love most of the other content, but I think it would be nice to hear some other topics that don't always go back to not having time to take days off.
