Ive resubscribed to your channel 3 times now. I can vouch that youre telling the truth. Ive never unsubbed. This is my favorite youtube channel. Im not just saying that either.
@@armouredskeptic well I can tell you you've got some faithful fans. If I'm searching your channel to make sure I'm still subbed, then there has to be others.
9:14 “I’m trying to expose all the shit I don’t like in this world and because I see myself as failing I’m trying to go down swinging” Hardest line you’ve ever dropped, Greg 😩
Well bc it is a Canon event, every word he speaks is the truth and our lives, my man has been telling us the canonical story of our lives since jump ✌🏼✌🏼
RU-vid is a shell of its former self. Let's look at what's not available anymore. * No DMs * No video responses * No annotations * No dissent * No unique content * No search algorithm * Seriously, no search algorithm. It's impossible to find anything anymore. And last, but not least... * NO FUN ALLOWED
They literally got rid of dislikes... Made that button useless. And you can't search for playlists anymore for some reason, which they keep saying they wil "fix" but it's been like that for what... maybe 5 years now?
I got ready for my final exams at uni while I was pregnant and your videos were (and still they're 😊) my treats. So I would like to thank you, really helped me in difficult times❤
I have subscribed to you since 2013, and been unsubscribed at least twice, causing me to twice resubscribe. RU-vid is definitely not what it used to be, because the mainstream media has infiltrated it, because they don’t like anybody else having as big a megaphone as them, or being able to get past, the gauntlet of talent, selectors, or the filters of what acceptable “news“ and opinion is. The same thing happened to MySpace before that! Writers, filmmakers, musicians, and artists (in this moment comes to mind), used myspace, and later, RU-vid, to organically gain a following, and build themselves up without having to go through the gauntlet. RU-vid used to be my alternative to mainstream television, and you were also one of the first RU-vidrs to get me started on my path to skepticism and atheism. As the years went by, I watched the same thing happen to RU-vid that happened to my space. Corporate money came in, took it over, steamrolled everybody else under, and once again usurped yet another platform built mainly for the little guy. After the adpocalypse (and when they took the visible like/dislike counts away), I knew RU-vid was beginning its slow, painful demise, and it makes me wonder if there will ever be another open source, grassroots mass media platform for regular people, and how long it will last before the corporate parasites to suck it dry, too!
Any time a new platform is created, a big company/interest buys it and destroys it, or turns it into another place for mainstream creators. That's what happened to MySpace and RU-vid. The ones they can't buy get banned for some reason or another.
RU-vidrs just have to be convinced that it's beneficial to themselves and they will sell out; if they think it's their own idea, they are more convincing to their audience.
Yeah, that's the key - set them up to present the information through their own creative lens, tricking them into thinking that it's their idea (on some level). The information and the entertainment is more convincing when the presenter believes it, and believes it's their idea/content.
You articulated the essence that I think many viewers of Patrick's videos were so frustrated with. Is that they are anti-consumer and heavily pro-industry. "The industry can do no wrong" is absolutely the line a shill would toe at all times. Well argued, sir.
I hate hte trend coined by the biggest channels are creators like Mr Beast, who just make videos tailored to the algoryhtm, and designed to get views. There is no creative drive, it's just a business pumping out bland, streamlined content. It's everything YT wasn't meant to be. I just wanna see people outting out what they feel like, not someone trying to get attention by tailored content
@@armouredskeptic Love to see it He seems to be the posterboy of RU-vid sucess, because he "made it" and is not an asshole but a really nice guy. And I'm sure he is. But is this really quality content though? Really someone creatively expressing themselves? Looking forward to see your take on it, and to see that discussion I'm only having with my friends be had by someone with a organic audience. That's the beauty of RU-vid
I'd watch your MB video, but I thought people weren't allowed to have an opinion or criticism of him without the rest of YT freaking out because of his Charity work? If anyone could do well though, it would be Mr Skeptic
No, no, no! The problem with any movie inserting identity into an artform without a reason like giving insight into character motivations, but rather just simply fulfilling a quota, then the artform is not art but rather semi-entertaining propaganda.
@armouredskeptic as a minority I'm done with DEI simply for the sake of DEI. With the long history of the Disney Starwars Universe and the various interviews from actors, directors, writers, producers, and executives ot is easy to see that the majority of decisions surrounding the development of the Starwars Sequels was from the point of driving home a message vs developing an actual story that honors the characters and universe the story takes place in. Go watch the Prism version of the Sequel Trilogy for a specific example of how legit DEI can be achieved with out pandering or turning a film into propaganda. The series Cobra Kia and film Ghostbusters: Afterlife are grate examples as well. Even Southpark has finally put to words what many of us minorities already knew about Disney as a whole and Marvel, and Lucasfilm specifically.
You got too close to something and they're giving you the "Truther" treatment. You put things in ways regular viewers can use your videos as a starting point to realizing "History Is A Lie."
@@armouredskeptic You dropped your skeptic mask. You actually are allowed to exist online if you pretend you don't know what it is and code your information toward inconclusiveness or back toward the mainstream paradigm. You've done really well with that. I couldn't hold it for long enough to garner any kind of popularity (Not this channel). Not that I would like most of my viewers if I was, but now I don't see the possibility of reaching the people I'd vibe with. RU-vid really is dead. Any platform you see gain popularity through people speaking truth start to go corporate/commercial it's over. It's happening on Tiktok now too. Lots of diverse topics on there and some dig really deep into esoteric subjects and their symbolism. I had no idea, but I started using it just before the serious censoring started happening and recognized it immediately. I'm shadowbanned across platforms. All channels that went from entertaining, to more serious topics are getting capped at the same amount of views as my videos there along with exceedingly low interaction. If it's not a trollbot to be the only interactions as an implement of discouragement. People don't know that this happens across more than social media. It also happens in gaming. Why some see massive cheating and harassment and others don't notice anything wrong at all. It's all tailored sadly, but you managed very well. Plenty of people waiting for your next upload. I am too.
@armouredskeptic you gotta get on these newer video media sites, along with RU-vid. I know it's like starting all over and that they don't have the reach RU-vid does. But you have a pretty loyal fan base and most will follow you.
@armouredskeptic that was kinda around when 'The Joe Rogan Experience' left, right? I find it odd that one of the biggest podcast leaves the platform that could comment and become any sort of community...🤷
Let's just put this video on repeat when we go to bed or let his whole video library play as we sleep to help out this awesome content creator. Come on people!
@@armouredskepticdamn dude I don't think I've ever heard you even have to promote your PayPal or ask for contributions etc. That's really saying something. On another note, I do love alot of your stuff now, but I miss your react or response videos of you taking down stupid shit on line. You have a vernacular for tearing into bad arguments. But hey man, with age, we have to learn to pursue what interest us, or what we find important. So keep at it man. Either way it's hard times for us all right now, but you've got urself a member now.
I don't think I have either but also I don't think I'd notice unless it was one of my favorite channels like this channel or Red Letter Media like the channels I'm always coming back too
Wait, you've been making videos this whole time?! How very cool that I'm subscribed plus bell or whatever just to have missed like two years of videos. Time to get caught up.
The LotR eagles and GoF portkey thing are of the most famous "actually explained supposed plot hole". If anything the nerd culture "acktually" is just...right. Presenting an arguement strongly and proudly doesn't matter if the arguement is full of...well, holes. But can't say I'm shocked since proudly stupid is getting more and more popular.
36:33 No people talked about plot holes way before the internet. We just did it in person and there is no record for someone else to read 10 years later.
Please never stop Greg, I've been watching since 2015. Love you man, Just subbed to Patreon. If i can request, History is a Lie is a masterpiece, please make more of it. When I watch it, I get the same feeling as standing in front of a large mountain. AND youre spitting facts. Never stop man, you can change, but never stop.
The biggest problem I've seen is twofold: Consistency of character and having principles and sticking to them. Neither are hard if you're a halfway decent person, but many fall prey to their urges to succeed... Most of your contemporaries from eight years back have lost the damn plot, while the one who has any backbone aside from Sargon, is still one of my favorite channels despite all the odd events unfolding over eight chaotic years later: You. I'll check out your Patreon... You've been providing me with excellent work for nearly a decade, so I kinda owe you one. I'm sorry to see that RU-vid has adopted such disruptive and censorious practices... It used to be cool, once. You'd think treating people that make you millions of dollars on ads, alone, would be incentive enough for treating people far better than they have. Keep up all the great work, Greg. We all really appreciate the effort it takes to make these pieces and enjoy the quality. Have a great weekend.
The same thing that I say to people when they mention this: " Do what you love for work" My response to that is ALWAYS: NO! Work and passion can NEVER be the same for long. Work is NOT enjoyment. Work is pay. ANYTHING that ANYONE enjoys should NOT EVA be used to make a LIVING off of. Period. People pay people to do things that they want done for one of two reasons: they can't do it themselves or they don't WANT to do it themselves. Turning ANYTHING into a money making scheme is WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS. NOTHING NICE comes from a corporation agenda, for an individual. What you pay for, what you work, and what you individually enjoy should NEVER be the same things, nor should those things be sleeping together. If I CAN do it, just don't wanna......then yeah, that's just work........ FAX. HEAVY-HANDED corporate agenda ruins EVERYTHING that is worth being passionate about or genuinely enjoying. ANYTIME there is a massive uptick of population involvement, GURANTEE that a corporate agenda is laying a heavy hand into it.
Seven years later, a BA, a Master's degree, most of law school and an ex girlfriend that took up most of that time. I have returned to my 2016 roots of armoured skeptic lol.
I subscribed to this channel probably 6? years ago, idk time flies, haven't seen a single one in my recommended in years until now, it's funny though, youtube seems to always recommend these specific types of videos from long forgotten subscriptions, and im not really sure why.
I'd like to see you average retention rate of non subs. I'm willing to be its low since you have very niche long form content. RU-vid moved away from subs and view counts because of how easy it is to fake both of the metrics with bots
Greg, thankyou so much for you channel bro. You really mean so much to your serious fans. They dont have to notify me of your videos cause im always looking!
YT hasn’t unsubbed me from the channels I follow (yet), but there are TONS of new vids that never show up in my sub feed, and I don’t know about the vid until 1-3 months after it came out. I probably need to make a master list of YT channels I follow in case YT pulls some BS.
I unsubscribed when you went off the deep end and seem to now make the exact opposite of the content you used to make... that's probably the case for most of your lost subs my guy
Speaking of RLM. RU-vid unsubbed me from them last week after more than a decade. Before that I never believed that they actually did that type of thing to non-bot subscribers
Switched tv for YT a looong time ago. 80% of what i indulge in is cantered within the realms of the esoteric and occult... It's a gods damn shame how many content creators no longer have a platform. A mere 10 years ago, the access to the profound was... profound! Now, you are one of the few i choose to give my time to. Stay strong, and gods bless you Brother.
Exactly - when the disappointment becomes a regular experience, people start to pick apart the reasons why. "Nerds" can not be expected to fully understand the issues, so they use simpler terms like "Plot Holes" to point them out.
When you said that successful creators are creating even more contents to keep up, it's like if youTube is transforming itself in an MLM. I hate maintream media, and love your channel. I was pretty sad seeing you go for a while and really happy with the fresh content you are bringing in here. I never unsubscribe 😉
The portrayal of Luke is the worst part of TLJ. You went into great detail explaining why Batman getting back to Gotham was a legitimate plot hole. Luke's portrayal is a plot hole for the same reason. It's heavily established in the OT that Luke cares more for his family than anything else. He puts himself and arguably the galaxy on the line for the chance to save the soul of his father. He only breaks when he does because Leia is threatened, and even then is able to pull himself back. His resistance of the emperor at that point signifies that he has risen above those temptations. In TLJ Luke considers killing his nephew just because he's having dark thoughts. That immediately breaks any progress Luke had as a character. This change in Luke is typically explained merely by the passage of time since ROTJ. The problem is that the understanding of who Luke was from the OT suggests that he should actually be more resistant to any violent temptations. Instead he is portrayed as someone who defaults to a violent response against a member of his own family. This is absolutely the core problem of the movie. Luke was portrayed that way specifically because it was shocking. It was shocking because it's impossible based on his established character. Even if his priority isn't saving the galaxy, saving his nephew should be. He should be willing to sacrifice his life to make that happen. Instead Luke turns his back on his nephew at the end of the movie. Luke used to be a character I could look up to. Now he is just a sad wreck. That's what this movie did, and that's what Star Wars as a franchise has been ever since.
"unrelated footage" hahaha. On the other hand it is really nice to see that Will Smith has upgraded to a wife at least capable of empathy, even if it is just programmed.
Yes! Work is so hard and bills are literally sin. But I'm so, so, so glad to have the opportunity to hear what you have to say over and over. Thank you so much, You are my favorite forever!
@whaddup691 yes, I am more or less a technofuture utopian, and I do believe humans have every capability to provide for utilitarian human needs without charging "money" 😉
@whaddup691 in the vein of the show "the good place" where in one scene in commerce w/ God god describes the evil associated with certain ambivalent choices throughout life.. in that sense, supporting paying "money" for basic human needs like housing turns into a complex evil dynamic, although of course I would never advocate hell for a electrical technician because his job pays him money from Individuals who are paying their bills. It's horrifically complicated, but that doesn't make it less evil. An evil we subscribe to because "we" tell "ourselves" there is no other way or that it's the fairest possible compromise.
@whaddup691 I didn't watch it personally, i didn't find the show captivating in any way, I'm just aware if the clip. I think that shared labor a la anarchic socialism would be my idealouge solution. True democratic communism, where all labor is communal labor. But with less black mirror China core and more like the weird description of alien society from Stephany Meyer's "the Host". Haha Why you gotta hate on humans? Of course we can construct a society where ppl don't need to pay menial bills, where society will look back on things like rent and mortgage as strange and barbaric. Be optimistic, bro.
@whaddup691 it tracks for someone who basically never engages in any debate as well, which i definitely don't! I was just trying to illustrate my thoughts, not trying to cite sources, though.
Oh man, this couldn't have been timed more perfect for me. Two videos I happened upon today (by relatively big RU-vid creators) struck me as propaganda in disguise. The first was an Ann Reardon (How To Cook That) video where she "debunks" that Aspartame is bad for you. The second was Tasting History with Max Miller's new video about JFK's last meal where he casually states that Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK. Max was clearly paid to promote a new JFK documentary that's about to come out. Ann Reardon is a bit more difficult to pin down but I'd swear her video is actually a paid commercial for diet soda. Both videos left me shaking me head. So perfectly timed for this video. THANKS, Armoured Skeptic!
The aspartame video seems perfectly reasonable, it explained the flaw in some studies, and the classifications of harm. If it was not safe to consume at the doses it's used it probably would've been banned already. Especially in regions with stricter food safety standards.
@@trax72 The aspartame video is more than you're seeing. The audience already loves their diet soda so they are taken on an emotional roller coaster when it seems the queen ant may die from consuming it. Oh my god! What does this mean for me??!! But then sweet relief. She's fine! After Ann's little science experiment she then cherry picks one study of hundreds which seems to suggest aspartame might cause cancer in mice. OH NO! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME??!! Don't worry! The mice who ate aspartame actually lived longer! PHEW!! She then defers to the WHO, FDA and CDC to figure out the rest of the science for her and tells her audience that, basically, its probably fine to consume in moderation. Fine. But this isn't how her audience takes it. Read through the comments. Many have been given the green light to consume aspartame guilt free from now on and many proclaim how much they hate science deniers and the media for pushing lies about their beloved sweetener. But what none of these people know is that Ann has given her audience the most half-assed overview of the controversies around this substance. How interesting that the entire video is centered around cancer when cancer was never the primary concern about Aspartame. The concern about Aspartame, since the early 80's, has been NEUROTOXICITY and rats with HOLES IN THEIR BRAINS. I suspect the whole reason the WHO even raised cancer concerns recently was a distraction. "Look! We're doing science!". Her video also glosses over all of the early controversy around this substance. GD Searle Co, Donald Rumsfeld, the Reagan Administration. Look in to aspartame... it's quite a story! Regardless of whether or not she's a shill, this video play exactly like a commercial for diet soda and chewing gum. It's very irresponsible as far as representing quality science and historical, factual accuracy.
well, in the case of patrick, he is also part of the films industry. So, it's in his best interest to tell people that they are wrong for criticizing movies because then they will be wrong for criticizing him. One more thing to keep in mind is, in order to get far into the films industry, 9 times out of 10 you need to kiss a lot of ass
Actually, The Last Jedi is still one of the worst films ever made. I started making a list and I have over 40 issues with the writing & direction in the opening alone, before the Rebellion/Resistance jumps to hyperspace. The film is constantly “showing” the audience something, then “telling” the audience something that completely contradicts it. I don’t know if I could intentionally write something as cognitively dissonant as TLJ. It still has all the same contrivances & conveniences as JJ Abrams has in his films, but where JJ seems to be trying, maybe too hard to please the audience, Rian Johnson actively hates the audience watching his film. The only positive thing I can say about TLJ is, some of the actors were fine, however their performances were often wasted playing characters that were unrecognizable.
If you think I’m exaggerating, TLJ is some of the worst storytelling ever! Here are the issues I have with JUST the Title Crawl. Title crawl Episode VIII "THE LAST JEDI "The FIRST ORDER reigns. Having decimated the peaceful Republic, Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys his merciless legions to seize military control of the galaxy.” How? This movie takes place days after the destruction of Starkiller Base. The Supremacy’s crew is over 2.25 million crew member, so you would think many more were stationed and perished at their planet sized weapon along with a huge number of ships and other resources. The First Order was a “covert” military faction just weeks ago, now they blew up 5 planets and appear to have unlimited resources, more than the Empire did at their height, this is just ridiculous and Compounds a JJ Abrams TFA issue by making it worse, somehow? There is no world building, both JJ & Rian are treating this like a soft reboot. The First Order is the Empire. The Resistance is the Rebellion. TFA was JJ’s New Hope. TLJ is Rian’s Empire Strikes Back. “Only General Leia Organa's band of RESISTANCE fighters stand against the rising tyranny, certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight.” What & Where is the New Republic? Did it just exist on the 5 planets that were destroyed? Why is this galaxy so small now? "But the Resistance has been exposed. As the First Order speeds toward the rebel base, the brave heroes mount a desperate escape....” Rian Johnson literally wrote “Resistance” & “Rebel” in the same paragraph, proving that he doesn’t know or care what it’s supposed to be called. I guess it is interchangeable & he’s embracing the soft reboot. Also, How do the Resistance/Rebels know the First Order is coming, to prompt mounting a desperate escape? This also gives us NO frame of reference to how long it has been since TFA. We eventually find out, when Rey’s plot kicks off that Rey is on the island planet with Luke, and it is picking up where TFA left off & what Rey is doing is on a linear timeline to the other characters. So, essentially, Rey only spends a day on the island with Luke. This attack on the Rebel base is occurring only days after the destruction of the Starkiller base.
Patrick has made some cool stuff but yea he literally tells you everything you know about "watching movies" is "incorrect." Let me explain it to you for 45 minutes using an overload of quirky marvel humor. his video about movies being labeled "content" was spot on, however.
My guy, I have been watching your videos for 12 or 13 years now. I used to get a notification when you would post a video. But now I have to go look for your stuff
I've been unsubscribed once, shortly after your first history is a lie video, haven't been since, but, your new video wasn't recommended, so here I am watching it 4 days later.
I think it was about 5 or 6 months after I subscribed to this channel that I actively had to search it & subscribe again & that was 2 years or so now but I don't get suggestions for videos any more. The algorithm sucks & I accept that so I just go through my subscriptions periodically & check out new content & other activities
The people who aren’t successful are the people who couldn’t be bought out depending on your niche. But I’ve never taken anyone on this platform too seriously. At the end of the day; it’s entertainment
I haven't watched your channel in years, probably since 2018, and your videos have started to trickle back into my recommend. For the past few months I've seen this happening, I obviously don't know if google changed something or not but I can definitely see some sort of effect on how I'm being recommended videos. I've also seen a big jump in the number of relatively small channels I'm being recommended. Being someone who has watched youtube very regularly for about a decade (to an unhealthy extent sometimes lol) I can say that I've seen the way videos are recommended change a lot first hand, over the last 6 or so years there has been a HUGE shift towards big channels pumping out lots of dogshit, and that dogshit being dumped on my doorstep, which led to me not watching youtube that often. But more recently there are a lot more gems shining through. It makes me want to watch videos on youtube again, I used to love informative videos about history, engineering or programming, and for a long time I had to seek them out while being recommended so much shite. Now those sort of videos are coming to me a lot easier and often in a much longer form. Maybe its because RU-vid allows you to make very short form videos, but the length and quality of the main videos as well as the quality of the recommending system is getting better from my view. I don't like to give false hope so take my view point and compare it to what others are seeing, but for me it isn't so bad.
This is too true I've watched this 5 times now and bye the fifth time around its damn nearly tear jerking to realise all the creators I've seen over the years lose themselves to this platform
Respectfully disagree on TLJ, TLJ genuinely is awful. ROS is awful, too, in its own way. Additionally, concerning Dark Knight Rises we also learn that Bruce is broke, he has no access to his resources. So no resources, Bane's men blocking access to Gotham, Bruce's journey back into Gotham very much should have been impossible. The lack of money, he could sneak onto a plan traveling back to a city near Gotham, and maybe i am remembering this wrong, but even his tech he didnt have access too. Just his batsuit. One last thing, its not necessarily feminism, diveristy, etc thats ruining films. It's a combination used as scapegoating for poor writing and bad characters. Race/sex swapping a character is just goofy. Shitting on your audience on film, and while rebuking fans is damaging the film and tv industry. Make good stories, make good characters and stop antagonizing the audience are all things that should be happening. I mean i can tell when something is going to be done poorly depending on the marketing most of the time. "Blue Beetle is going to be incredibly latino!" Why should i care? What does that tell me about the movie and character? Am i supposed to rely on stereotypes? "This will be the first _____ character!" So what? And what about the first _____ the other 10-15 times?
Far from being just RU-vid. It's literally how games advertise even. "What's that? Joe Merrick is criticizing the newest Pokémon game? Well, he won't after we invite him over to our place!" -TPCi Europe. A guy who, given how long he's been playing, should absolutely hate everything they've done on the Switch, but won't because it makes him money and gets him attention from the company for not doing so.
I think I'm one of those people that RU-vid removed your subscription. I used to watch your vids all the time, and I saw your vid on my feed when I woke up and was like 'Ooh armoured skeptic, it's been a while' only to find out I was unsubscribed, don't worry I'm subscribed again!
@36:00 "Plot Holes" have existed since mythology-creating times... even in mythos and other litterary creations (like The Bible) there are plot holes. In novels since the 1400s there are plotholes. The 20th century 1980s-today degenerescence of cinematography in movies hasn't created plot holes.
I have been subscribe'd for many years but I suddenly i had to Find your accounote and sub agein. I mean I stopped watching for a while, But when I Search for you In. My subscriber list. I was not Anny more
Patrick's mention of Buzz freezing is a shitty example of a plot hole, as it's pretty obvious that when Buzz freezes, it's involuntary, while when the toys who know they're toys freeze, it's voluntary, or at least they're able to unfreeze.
Video is too long. Maybe youre just getting less views because you're not as talented as others. Meatcanyon is doing great. So is Doobus Goobus and many ither content creators. Because they aren't boring.
Ethan from h3h3 is easily one of the biggest shills on RU-vid. He used to genuinely funny. THEN he went all out on the politics. Complete joke of a man.
At this point getting a following is nearly impossible. Been releasing music for 3 years and I feel like I'm still fighting just to get a few listens a week.
I've been watching for years hands down best place to cut your teeth on esoteric knowledge I've watched the history is a lie series several times can you breakdown the imaginarium of Dr pernasis
26:42 very ironic that a video about Plot Holes, how & why people evidently don't understand them... is itself filled with plot holes. writing is hard, i guess. 45:00 the unfortunate part is, Patrick might not even be getting paid by HOLLYWOOD. he might just be doing this out of some twisted sense of obligation. (i mean, he'd be getting indirectly paid. if he scratches the back of the film industry, the film industry will tell RU-vid to push his videos in the algorithm.) the only difference between a Shill & an Apologist is that a Shill is getting directly paid by the entity (company, media, NGO, GO, et cetera) they're apologizing for. you'd hope Patrick's at least getting paid to tell us to shut up about Plot Holes. if he's just doing the bidding of a large corporation out of the misplaced kindness of his own heart, it's a sign of moral degeneration of our species. as if the: wars, poverty, illness, & food insecurity wasn't enough. a nightmare is waking up in the 21st century as a Zoomer and realizing it's getting worse. Entropy isn't just a Law of the Universe. it's not some abstract concept that only effects things on the largest scales. no: Entropy is real. we experience it everyday. whether we like it or not. stay safe Gregory. keep that armor on tight. people say "don't trust anyone, not even yourself." that's complete bullshit. if you can't trust yourself, you won't survive for very long. those who say that want you dead. they aren't your friends. they aren't even real people. "keep your friends close & your enemies closer." now THERE'S a saying. _______________________________________________________________________________ i am a bit confused by this unsubscribing nonsense. like, i know it happens to a lot of channels. even large ones like yours. it's weird. ... maybe certain channels are spared from this "culling", unfortunately: because they're shills.
No plot holes before the internet. Bullshit. I was there. Back to the future plot holes were known in primary school because someones mum saw them and we talked about it.
The holes in movies used to be smaller and less consequential, these days all they do set up scenes to have a certain delivery but they dont care how they get there and they've gotten really lazy about it. Its glaringly obvious.
I certainly agree that RU-vids algorthims do favour preestablished stars, although there is a large non regular youtube viewer audience for these tv shows and celebrities that factors in. Also you literally said you stopped making content for your audience and started making it for yourself, mate in the nicest way that is just as much a cause for lack of viewers as the site trying to kill your channel. I was not as interested in some of the history is a lie stuff so didnt often watch and I think unsubbed for a while. Also I think youtube does have a real bot problem particularly on alt media channels that might also account for your subscribers dropping. Big money has clearly infeseted youtube though, but I think im seeing it as less of a grand consipricy. If ever you want to go down a more audience centric route again, maybe to keep the lights on to do passion projects, I do think you are a really great movie reviewer. Your Joker review was the the first time I became interested in cinematography, and just generally your breakdowns were informed and entertaining.
I didn't complain that my subscribers aren't watching, I don't understand your argument - subs are the only people watching now. I said RU-vid is NOT RECOMMENDING my videos anymore. I showed that only 20% are non-subs. I complained that RU-vid is REGULARILY removing an exact amount of subscribers every month.
@@armouredskepticSorry I kind of combined multiple points badly. What I mean is, if even your subscribers are watching less of your content then it is less likely to get reccomended outside of that base. Once you go bellow a certain threshold of views from subs its likely to be reccomended less. Also content that apeals less to subscribers also probably apeals less to non subscribers. Plus kind of unrelated to that point but you have never been an algorithm chaser with clickbait or current topics ect (not that you should have to but sadly thats how the game seems to have to be played) which greater reduces outside eyes. Once views start dropping they keep dropping, because it pushes viewership trends, not any kind of narrative. Like ive seen it happen to a variety of content creators. Eventually you are reduced just to your own sub base because youtube trends indicate that nobody else is usually interested. As for the sub count the exact figure thing is dodgy as fuck dont get me wrong, but another explaination is that lots of accounts (and while I have no proof, I reckon alt media are probably more likely than other channels) have bot subscribers. As youtube removes old bot accounts chunk by chunk it looks shifty in the analytics. That and old accounts are deleted all the time. You have been doin this quite a while and diddnt start with the youngest fan base, probably causes a lot of innactive accounts to be auto removed. Basically I dont think its remotely targeted, just what happens to creatives when they participate in our society. Either sell out to an industry and profit, connect with enough people to keep you afloat, maybe something else but idk, or suffer and quit to do something 'the market' has deemed profitable. Im not saying its right, far from it I have a lot of sympathy and enjoy plenty of your content, just that it isnt personal or the shutting down of your kind of content spesifically.
@@armouredskepticOh and on the reverse point, its not that the shills are being pushed by youtube first then getting views. They are getting views then being pushed and bringing in more views in many cases. Will Smith brings in eyes just by being here, then those views lead to his video being pushed, not some speicial privilage. Or if someone had a guest on their show to bring in a new audience that brings in new eyes, like Post Malone as just a random example... which lead to other vide getting pushed. Often its due to budgets or majority opinion, but shills are making the content people more often want to see so it get fed to them more. I guess Im not sure I agree with where you are putting the cart and horse.
Lazy animation - the amount of work involved in animation is not worth what RU-vid rewards for the time it takes... But you can expect a few animations here and there.
@@armouredskeptic that is why i created my live animation software, it does all the heavy lifting and animates smooth as silk. i make live caRTOONS ON THIS VERY CHANNEL IM TYPING FROM. i would love to set you up with a custom build by plugging in your stills and reducing production time which gives me more of your work. yoyu are one of my inspirations and i would love to pay you back with my private tech ((no one else has it yet). all the cartoons on my channel were done live, off the cuff. check it and see how sick it is.
i should mention in the dark knight rises section, that really the problem isn't the "see" part, but the "how" part. also note that the delivery for patrick's actor specifically emphasizes "see" and not "how", which i can't help but be suspicious of.
