I don't know about this guy but the company that the show "To catch a predator" used to bait the men was called "perverted justice" and a few of the men featured in the show had their charges dismissed because it was shown that Perverted Justice falsified chat logs and purposely used role playing sex chat rooms to find men. They'd claim to be adults and then tell the men that they wanted to role play as an underage kid and then they'd alter the chat log to remove the stuff anout being an adult and wanting to role play. Eventually the FBI got involved and asked them to turn over all their hard drives and they refused. Then the FBI got a warrant to take them but perverted justice had already destroyed them. Makes you wonder how many other innocent men they destroyed.

Saying "he has the right to ask for a lawyer and it's a matter of whether he can provide a reasonable reason for his decision" isn't accurate. He has the right to request representation - no reason needs to be given.

Grindr doesn’t allow people younger than 18 to have accounts, so it’s reasonable to believe that anyone you find there is older than 17, even if they claim otherwise. Some guys have weird fetishes about pretending to be minors and looking for “daddies”, so if I was a defense lawyer, that’s the angle I would take. Grindr is very explicit about excluding minors, so it looks to me that Chris Hanson is the douchebag here.

The one thing i hate about these channels is that they present the idea that anyone who asks for a lawyer is "typically' guilty. What are you basing that on? This really just sounds like something cops say to trck people into not getting lawyers

Always ask for a lawyer ESPECIALLY if you are innocent.

He never specifically asked for a lawyer. It needs to be asking for council specifically. Some places, they will only take it if you specify with asking “can I have a lawyer” and other places will stop with any mention of lawyer.

Remember: if you ask for a lawyer right away they can't use it against you, but if you start talking and then stop they can and will use that as evidence.
