I think it's time for the community to demand better performance across the board. For the money paid for these fragrances performance should not even be a question. La Nuit is on my never buy again list. Great smell that is now a complete dog.

I'm in the minority on this fragrance. I have a bottle from June 2014, and it does what it's designed to do. I wear it for night use only (4 sprays and the after shave balm), and it gets many compliments. Why be disappointed? Where I'm from, the bars and clubs close at 2. If I go out at 10, this will perform nicely for 4+ hours. And that's all I need. For a cologne that's marketed for night use, I feel that it does exactly what it should do. But again, that's the minority opinion I suppose.
Hi... i also have the 2012, and a 2014 (tester) and i dont get much difference, only thing is that my 2012 is a tiny bit stronger for about the first 20-25 mins... and yes the cap is more heavy on the older, and the juice is almost yellow, and only light yellow on the 2014... i get about 8-9 hours on each, with about 3 hours projection (for 3 sprays) Regards
Thanks for this. I actually bought a 200ml by mistake last year. It was on sale, so I didn't realize until I got home. Good thing it was a 2012 batch, right? Good mistake.
Under some reasons i ended up with a lot of old perfumes and this 2012 la nuit de l'homme is one of it. The perfumes are new. Do you think it still have value in market ? I am trying to get rid the one that not good to use/give to people anymore and the one that still in demand. Which 2012-2018 perfumes that you think i still in great demands.
I definitely agree with your take, the older bottle is a lot better but not worth crazy prices. I'm lucky enough to own a bottle of the original formula and it is miles apart from even the first reform. Have you ever tried the early versions of DHI?
Great comparison Mr. Smelly. I own a 2015 bottle that I bought early last year and probably won't be buying another one anytime soon. It's still a great scent and people who love it can just go heavy on the trigger and carry an atomizer. I vote for The One over GIT this time.
Dan - great video. I think you and Claire did a great job comparing the 2012 and 2015 La Nuit de L'Hommes. I own 2011, 2012 and 2013 bottles after selling my 2015 bottle last year. I got these older bottle by doing exactly what you did - going to a local drugstore. I found bottles at the back of the shelf (the newer ones always being put in front at the store I went) and could tell right away based on the bar code on the older boxes being different than the newer ones.
I have 2013 batch and its strong on my skin to the point where I wear only 1 spray while in university class. 3 hours after I spray I still get strong whiffs on a single spray. I am not the type of person who likes frags that project 6+ feet either. The dry down of La Nuit really is amazing. I prefer La Nuit over my birch batch of Aventus.
Weird that book was behind my right shoulder on my Canoe review (he only mentions Canoe bitching that several fourgeres are cheapened). OK probably right but he like all of us are biased from life experience. Look at the Azzaro Pour Homme review and then look at YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme. I do not see how one edges out the other with Azzaro getting the 5 star rating unless you take into past memories. Good reference to have and a good reason to review fragrances imo. I was ripped off buying the new YSL and made me love Valentino Uomo Intense. Great video/review. Yves Rocher Cuir Vetiver I vote for again.
great video...The 2011 is even better than that...I owned 2 of them at one point and it made accepting the new versions hard to do...Claire is always too cool...Enjoyed watching...
Luckily for me I got a 2011 batch when I was a freshman in highschool. I still have 70% of the juice left in my 3.3 bottle. My girlfriends favorite juice in my collection . She notices the differences in the new 2018 compared to the 2011
I've got two vintage bottle's 100ml 2009 batch , one with a box and the second bottle a tester, batch codes 9LAA and 9FAA Found them in a local store in Saudi Arabia for 120$ for two bottles 😂 (seller didn't know what he had), i think i was sooooo lucky , on my skin last +14 hour's !!!! , i have also 2018 batch that last +8 hours on my skin they are pretty close but the vintage is richer darker and more spicy
good detective job, Dan! perhaps in the next season of sherlock they can crack this mystery and put it to bed for good. i bet moriarty may have had something to do with it :) seriously though, la nuit IS a different scent today compared to what it was when it was first released. i was never into it to begin with, always preferred ysl l'homme to the flanker, but never bought it either because of its piss-poor performance. the only one from the l'homme line i have is l'homme pafrum intense, which i bought off a huge sale, and even that one is plagued by performance issues. i think lack of longevity and projection makes the whole line irrelevant to me. not that any were great scents to write home about to begin with. anyway, my two hryvniyas :)
but what ive seen from other review vintage 2009 has a dark yellowish color, mine has a bit light color that. but all the features like hollow cup, big sprayer, box was there. im just confused with the color of the juice. your thoughts?..
yeah the 2015 sucks... L'homme is even worse.. Over hyped fragrance.. Even the old version was never a really great performing fragrance.. it just was better than it is now.. I heard the new 2017 nuit is stronger.. Not sure the validity on that.
