YT Capra Uncaged 6 First Look vid!
2023 is a fresh start to put some of the best bikes in the world to the test. The Uncaged 6 is fully loaded with what should be THE BEST components in the world: Carbon chassis, Rockshox with Flight Attendant, AXS, Synthesis carbon wheels and more!
These reviews and all of my work is 100% crowdfunded by the MTB public via my competitions. The only products I offer to win have passed the AstonMTB test and I really believe are the best options on the market. Check out my current competitions here: astonmtb.com/
About me: lifelong MTB rider and racer. Bad World Cup downhiller and slightly better at EWS racing. Qualified MTB coach and guide. 5 years as the European Technical Editor for Pinkbike, followed by some years of testing and prototyping for brands within the industry.
Now I've thrown everything into this project to create the best independent bike reviews in the world.
These products are bought at full retail price, and the reviews are funded 100% by competition ticket sales and donations. Buying a ticket not only gives you a chance to win cool bike stuff but also to support more and more independent reviews. This is a community effort, you can support these reviews, or get your information elsewhere which is always funded directly by the brands or through their advertising budgets...
Thanks to everyone for the support so far!

Im also voting for a new microphone! As a non native speaker, i just cant understand a few parts, even with relistening. I love your channel and content, so i would really like to understand everthing!

If you do get a new microphone, have a look at the Rose Wireless Go - when I say have a look, I mean buy that one. Have the mic clipped to your collar and the receiver plugs straight into your DSLR via mini jack.

I can recommend you to try out the Hayes Dominions. Been running them on both my bikes for a year. Best brakes I ever rode - consistent in all temps and conditions, super reliable (haven’t had to bleed either), incredible brake pad lifespan, sturdy as hell brake levers (unlike f.e. Shimano’s), … I can keep going

Paul, do you set your sag with all of the damping wide open? Or dialled in to what you ride it with?

I agree with just about 99% of the stuff you say, but every time you trash on the Code RSC brakes, I think to myself: "are they really that bad?".. I had a very poor experience with the Code *R* brakes that came on my Pole. Needed bleeding pretty much all the time to function and be safe to ride. However, then I switched the levers to RSC, brake hoses to braided steel hoses, brake discs to Galfer 223mm x 2mm, and Galfer pads, I've pretty much had only positive experience with them. No need to bleed more than about once a year for optimal performance, no fading, no inconsistencies, more than enough power for me (it should be mentioned that even though I am not the lightest person in the world, I am fairly light on the brakes, which I think everyone should be). Also it's worth mentioning that I live and ride in Finland, and obviously we don't have huge mountains or very high temperatures here, so I don't know if my brakes would be a piece of shit in an environment that has bigger mountains and much hotter climate..? I have tried many different brakes, and for the price, I think the Code RSC is a killer setup, if you know how to set them up, at least in my experience. Keep up the important work you do for the mtb world! 👍🏻

Re; brakes, How do the Hope Tech 4s compare with the Cura 2s? I have the Cura 2s at the moment. Worth the expense to get the Hopes?

My bet is, you Crack the YT in under 10 rides ! I'm surprised it doesn't come with shuttle protection..not great for the Canadian consumer. Audio is a bit off yeah, but it's all a learning curve, so good on ya !

if that happens, How come everyone else doesnt have this issue? its like canyon bikes, They sell so many bikes but a few have an issue and They post it all over PB/yt/FB... but yet you dont hear from the other 99% that dont have any issues. the MTB industry is terrible for the minority being loud.

Spot on comment about bike weight. As a big fellow its kind of nice to never really worry about bike weight because its marginal compared to my weight.
@ostankovalex1176

they are weighted without pedals, as the weight of a pedal differs a lot from flats to clipless/from composite to alum. Just check how much a pair of OneUp composites weighs and compare it to CrankBrothers Mallets Clipless ones.

in 2021 there were a few Enduro racers using EXO+ in the front.

Re; rear sag setting, I've always understood that the vertical travel in the front & rear should be about equal in the normal riding position to make a bike feel balanced. This must equate to sag measurement in the rear being more than the front (ie say 30% vs 20%) because the amount of sag in the rear affects the travel less that the amount in the front because of the geometry of most bikes (as the fork is nearly vertical & the shock works via links & levers. For example, 10mm front sag may equate to say 8mm front wheel vertical travel whereas 10mm rear sag may equate to say 5mm rear wheel vertical travel. Of course I could be totally wrong as I am no expert but it seems logical to me.

17:54 If you want a 35mm bar with flex I recommend RaceFace SixC35, it flexes in every direction. I could feel it if I pushed on it, put weight on it, doing some stunts. I tried One Up Carbon bar, it flexes too, but iss horizontally stiff, and hole has different wall thickness, it's ovalised at the taper, I've not tested same rise head to head, so can't compare them properly. So far these are the only carbon bars I have tried. As for stiff bar, Burgtec Ride High 38 was extremely stiff, stiffest bar I've tried, but I've not tried many. That bar did not feel dampened at all, bunny hops, drops, bumps everything was harsh, but small bumps were not the worst, bunny hopping and drops were, I could feel it in my hands, my hands hurt when I rode them, I think it was the bars. even with RevGrips.

You need to fix the sound, it’s unbearable to listen too. Maybe if you spend less on gears and some on mic you get a bigger audience. and then spend more on mtb kit.

I kind of disagree with you regarding weight. I'm myself about 180cm tall and weigh about 85kgs. And I can say that I don't care that much about how much the bike weighs, but when you give your money away, you always check what you're paying for. And why not pay for a lighter bike for the same price? It's much easier to flick around a 14kg bike than a 17kg one. My bike weighs about 16kgs, so I don't care about weight that much. However, my GF is only 160cm tall and weighs about 55kgs. And the difference in weight for her is insane. It's not only about pedalling uphill (which I think is the least important part) but when you need to pull/bunny hop the bike, jump a transfer, put your bike in a car, etc. For a big guys 1kg added to the frame is nothing. For a small person it's a bigger issue.
