Idk if you read my comment in your previous short about Buster Blader against Slyfer, but much appreciate this video 🙏 By any chance, you could make next archetype with Black Luster Soldier?🙏
It looks like that the background loop used in editing vanishes for a frame or two. This can happen when you copy/paste a short loop to keep it going. Rather than them being truly side by side, there is a minuscule gap between the copies of the loop.
Yugi cards are so beloved by Konami. Freaking Gazelle the King of Mythical beast just got an archetype whose retrain has it’s own new type: illusionist. If and when Konami stops printing new cards, every monster in Yugi’s deck will have its own deck.
It's safe to say that the Buster Blader had one of the coolest designs out of all the original Yu-Gi-Oh monsters. It stood there along the likes of Dark Magician, Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Blue Eyes White Dragon and several others that escape me.
I love how buster blader directly counters kaiba's blue eyes dragons 1)as if kaiba summons 1 blue eyes white dragon , buster baldsr gains 500 attack and becomes 3100 attack. 100 more attack than bewd 2)And if kaibe summon the blue eyes ultimate dragon buster blader gauns 2000 attack and becomes 4600 attack , again 100 more attack than blue eyes ultimate dragon
Years after the original series and that realization finally dawned on me. Like the video said, Buster Blader never got to shine on his own, but whenever Yugi/Atem needed a dragon to be slain, he was there in some capacity.
@@ASavageEye I think they could actually be friends. Mostly after what happened to buster whelp. Actually any dragon maid might have a crush with him. Idk. I just want support for buster blader o a synergy between the two 😀
@@Rak0705 I don't know if they originate from there but thanks to Magustis I know they are connected. I have a deck in master duel I'm working on as a result I'm just calling the mage's guild. Where I take bosses and try to make it work. I have Dark Magician, Endymion, witch crafters, spell books, Magustis, a fortune lady(the synchro). It's a fun chaotic mess
12:10 Just for clarification, as the way Sam said it makes it seem more like Poly, it uses monsters from your hand or *either* side of the field, so you could use an opponents Dragon-type monster as fusion material. Another way it counters Dragon decks. 😄 Thank you for the video! BB is literally one of my favorite cards as I had one when I was younger, and I’ve loved playing with the new support on Duel Links.
The only archetypes left in Yugi's deck that hasn't been covered are Gaia the Fierce Knight, Black Luster Soldier, Archfiend, and Phantom Beast (admittedly there's overlap with the first 2)
Buster Blade, heads down one of my favorite cards from the original series, and still one of my favorites to this day. I'm not only glad he got expanded into his own archetype, but he was given a movie/series-worthy backstory. Speaking of which, awesome narration of it. Here's hoping that there's a video focusing on the Black Luster Soldier and Gaia archetypes.
Funfact: Besides being played by Yugi in DM, there's a side character called Shewbahha from the current ygo series Go Rush who uses Buster Blader as his ace monster which is fitting since he's from a family of (alien) Dragon Busters who hunted space dragons til they got extinct. (and he had to duel a main character with a dragon deck) This was Buster Blader's anime debut in the Rush era.
The later Buster Blader cards were honestly the first time when I looked at their cards and went "Hold uo, there's an actual story being towards between these cards"
1. Buster Blader going from an edgy boy who hates dragons, to a proud pet owner, to the Doomguy of Yu-Gi-Oh! is a character arc I didn't know I needed 2. The fact that Buster Whelp only became corrupted because it tried to be strong enough to protect Buster Blader is freaking sad! But the two do get a bittersweet ending so that's nice.
Nice lore about the Buster Blader before introducing the archetype. Interesting how the Buster Blader connects well with the Dark Magician, and by extension Yugi and Atem. It also makes sense for Atem to have Buster Blader to counter Seto Kaiba's blue eyes white dragon.
I remember strategies revolving around the fusion monster. It was either buster dragon OR the continuous trap that changes the type of ALL monsters. Either or both
@@GoldRichness All 3 could be used, but Rebirth is only used to massively increase the attack points of the Fusion Buster Blader and OG Buster Blader since Rebirth changes all monsters in the GY to a selected type. DNA in case you don't pull prologue.
If it wasn't for this archetype, I wouldn't have gotten back into Yu-Gi-Oh and honestly, it's a pretty fun deck to mix with other decks like Despia or Dragonmaids... but just pray you don't brick.
My headcanon is that the dragons that blader killed and well absorbed is the original bodies of the 5 headed dragon and there malice made them fused and turn into the fusion monster, also may have caused welps turn to savagery.
What makes buster blader even better against Kaiba is that if Kaiba even sends out one blue eyes white dragon, buster bladers attack goes up to 3100, 100 more than the blue eyes white dragon
Even though the small dragon ties together with Buster Blader, why do I feel like there should be a fusion of Buster Blader & Red Eyes Black Dragon or Blue Eyes White Dragon. To be honest that would've been pretty cool to see if Joey and Yugi teamed up again in the anime. We could've gotten Dragoon and possibly a Buster Blader and Red Eyes Fusion
First saw this idea and buster blader lore on "guns blazing" a smaller yugioh channel, I'm glad you're doing it now,I think you adapted actual lore well ( as a posed to just listing the cards and information)
Dang. I imagine the stories in this video and some of your others can be used as a series of animated episodes on Disney + or something. Great job researching, voicing, and editing of graphics for us to be able to follow the stories visually.
I have a funny memory of Buster Blader be he was one of my only monster on my field and my friend head obelisk the tormentor and he had like 12 dragons in his grave yard and I forgot about buster blader’s affect until the last second which I remembered, and I got the win so that’s why I always kept this card in my Deck
So captivating the way you tell these stories ❤ from the beginning, with the imagery this tells a wonderful short story. I'm sure there's a Ghost Buster reference in the lore where "Bustin makes him feel good" 😂 but in all seriousness, this card has remained one of my favorite cards...artwork, appearance & usability. Great vid, cheers 🍻
I remember hearing from Golden Nova that the destruction sword cards were made to counter whatever was meta at the time of their release. Dragon Buster Destruction Sword countered the Dragon Link strategy (or the dimension dragons, I might be way off on this one) Wizard Buster Destruction Sword countered Shaddolls And Robot Buster Destruction Sword countered Qliport So if more were made, I would think it would be things like Mind Buster Destruction Sword (a Psychic type that counters banish strategies), there could others, but I can't exactly think of too many off the top of my head. even then there is potential for new support, but it would kind of have to show more of the corrupted Buster Whelp as it placed different souls and such into the swords.
Maybe some fusions with other well known dragons or spellcasters? Dragons makes the most sense considering Wonder how a blue eyes or red eyes fusion would go
I never thought about Yugi getting it just for Kaiba, but it makes sense, it always beats Blue Eyes White Dragon with 3100 for being a Dragon, while Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon 3 blue eyes in graveyard + the fusion 4600, always that extra 100
Small addendum DistructionSwordsman Fusion is also a Quickplay Spell that is an indeed an archetypal super Polymerization so let’s say you use memories to discard dragon, buster destruction, sword Activate, prologue to get buster dragon onto the field by dumping necessary materials, then vanish memories after everything resolves now you have buster blader, the fusion and buster dragon all in the field and any destruction, sword card you want to equip at that point so, if you really wanted to, you could have two of the fusions, pretty neat, but unnecessary
This deck would be so much better if destruction swordsman counted as buster blader in the hand, and all the effects that reference "Buster Blader" could also be applied to the fusion.
Yah id like to see more support for this. Im actually running this in my more modern yugioh deck with his updated monsters or at least versions of his cards that i found interesting and useful.
All Dragons fear The Buster Blader-Dragon Destroyer Swordsman, this includes all powerful Dragons including the Dragonmaids themselves, but I would like to think over time he is actually the Dragonmaids' master.
this deck is so much fun, its one of my mains in master duel its a little rough if you dont get the right cards, but once you get that combo, its all worth it
Not only the buster welps but they should add other versions of Buster Blader as well probably a level 3 or 4 version. (before his fame) maybe some dark magician ties as well.
Loving to see one of my favourite arc type got that much power, plus i really hope they making more of them since throught buster whelp growth ther are missing some level from level 1 to 3 and from level 4 to 8, if konami makes more of him i would be extremly happy and ready to play it even more as i already did
I guess it was supposed to be obvious but I'm only just now realizing this was really just designed to beat Kaiba's BEWD in the anime. If facing 1 BEWD, it will have exactly 100 points more attack. If facing an Ultimate, it will also have exactly 100 ATK more. Kaiba also didn't run any other dragons early on so it would only ever have that dramatic 100 ATK advantage, and that way it could also set up a reversal if Kaiba ever removed a BEWD, or did any other play that slightly altered ATK values. And then it didn't even get used for that, tragic.
