Nah, the correct hit is Original, it's too free and too generic, without it we don't have every deck jamming a Snake-Eye engine and pure is still playable while being stoppable outside of drawing 3 handtraps

Already looking to be there, Fiendsmith is going to splashed literally everywhere, and it is going to be stupidly expensive to boot. Really it's the pricing that really puts me off these formats more than the length. Just when you thought Tear was a bad as it would get, Snake-Eyes literally doubled the price of getting the only viable deck competitively. Fiendsmith is going to do the same, except on a much larger scale, and while it may not be a one deck format (unless Snake-Eye is left unabashed AGAIN), it will price a significant number of people out of the game who want to be competitive. (Thankfully, I live in the UK/EU, and Konami doesn't seem to want us to compete anyway, so fuck 'em. I won't be buying Fiendsmith, because apparently, there's nothing asides Locals for me to use it on.) The price barrier of entry is the main reason why playing in the TCG has been so bad, though the back to back Tier 0 formats also hurts a lot, and the way the game is being played in our current Tier 0 format, is really not much fun. Either you have a bunch of hand traps ready to pick apart your opponents plays, or you have nothing and they make a board that's completely unassailable and you realise that you've already lost. Really the only fix is to have Konami stop being so fucking greedy with "staples" and "essential cards", but that's not going to happen, because it would've done so by now. If anything, we're worse off, because we've not a Structure Deck in nearly a year now (which is how normally we get very accessible reprints of popular/essential cards). It's a real shame and really the game is very much being carried by the players. The fact there's seemingly a lot of people playing in spite all the current flaws, is the only reason this game hasn't been taken around the back and shot. If more people in my area played ANY other TCG at even similar numbers to YGO, I wouldn't be playing it, plain and simple. There are many more TCGs that respect your time and money far more, but as many have stated, nothing plays quite like YGO. But we're beginning to question if that's really a good thing or not.

No, we have only had 2 Tier 0 Formats lately. It is just that they are so close together. The one we had before Tear was all the way back in SPYRAL Format.

TBH Zealantis might be the pick because Konami will want to cash in on Princess. Zealantis has been one of those cards where whenever it shows up, something unfair is happening. The only uses it's has IIRC is getting Raging Phoenix live and letting Marincess get rid of your field.

Yeah they’d ban zealantis if anything in my opinion because princess is too new and it would hurt other decks that aren’t snake eye as well and they don’t wanna do that

They absolutely do not because sets don’t always release alongside that schedule which can actually lead to a lot worse formats. They used to do it every 3 months and there’s a reason why they got rid of scheduled banlists. Notice how ocg banlist is a fucking mess? It’s part of the reason.

The ONLY thing ocg does better than tcg is print cards to be accessible. Everything else tcg does better so idk why you would use ocg as an example.

In the OCG, they don't have that cuz they hit Snake Eye Ash and Wanted to 1 with Bonfire about to go to 2. The best deck in the last OCG meta report was actually Yubel. This is a TCG problem cuz their banlist choices are really stupid.

its not powercreep cards will get used and peeps will get upset the game is ever moving so the list has to move too, there are formats you can play edison, goat whatever make your own if you want too. tier 0 is tier 0 they been doing this dumb crap since zoo you have to find out what the tier 0 is weak too and counter it snek is just too strong every card feels like the 3 card effect rule. lets say snek gets beaten to death thats fine fiendsmith will pop up and everyone will be mad then, if apo gets banned then everyone will move to sp and ip then they will get banned and maybe pople will go back to rusty or something else like i said the game is ever moving we just gotta trim the hit so these speed bumps we hit we dont end up crashing into a wall

Like you said they've been doing this since Zoodiac (I'd argue before then but the start is irrelevant), and there's no signs of slowing down. Konami's only idea for moving the game forward is to make older decks completely irrelevant by pushing new cards that are so much more powerful than the last set that the latest tier 0 will overrun the previous one. They want people to buy the new cards, so they make sure the newest cards are the only ones that are competitively viable by cranking up the power each release. Virtual World, Eldlich, Herald-Drytron, Tri-Briggade, Despia, Traptrix, Prank Kids, Sword Soul, the list of decks that were hyper dominant less than five years ago and have been replaced by objectively better decks is ever growing. Some of those didn't even get hit on the ban list and still got completely replaced within a year of their release. The game should absolutely evolve, but there has to be some lateral movement, not just accelerator pinned to the floor screaming ahead as fast as possible. Something a year from now is going to make Snake Eye look as irrelevant as pure Kashtira is now. In two years Snake Eye will look like today's Sword Soul. Give it three years and SE will be slumming it with like today's Virtual World. At what point does the power of the latest deck get the game moving forward so fast it just directly slams into the wall without a chance to correct course? Limiting cards before they're released is not the sign of a healthy game, nor is releasing cards that SHOULD be limited, but deciding not to until after Konami has squeezed out every penny from the set. The game broke ten miles back. We're blasting the radio and flooring the gas pedal hoping everything just keeps working.

It's refreshing seeing other people understanding the situaction deeply. The point is that Konami doesnt really care. Standard Yugioh is just a piece of product with an expiration date and Konami knows this for years now. Just trying to milk as much money as possible from the addicts, before the product eventually come to its inevitable end

Thats exactly what is needed to be done , handtraps and ridiculouss strong board breakers is hard bs but was needed to begin with to even let you play the game and thats because ridiculouss strong boards. So yeah they need to overhaul this whole bs not ht/bb and not shit that requires them in order to play. Its a hard task and konami has ultimately dropping generic op cards in high rarity to sell products but baronne and savage being dead i guess theres still hope but it need to start rn not releasing more of it

Same. I think just banning Oak without banning Apollousa means the Snake-Eye deck can just use the Fiendsmith cards to bait hand traps or make Apollousa to protect the Snake-Eye Ash effect to summon Flamberge.

Konami has done that in the past. Good example I can remember, they banned Jet Synchron and several other Tuners instead of banning Halq.

Why would they change if the player base is cuck mentality and won’t stop playing no matter what they do. Hell EU is still playing even tho they don’t get YCS anymore.

@@masterflamewing234 Most people don't know what to do. So they just go through it hoping it gets better, some people just quit and some people take a break probably until the banlist is released to see if the issues are resolved.

If Konami was actually losing money they would adjust, problem is they aren’t. Discussing problems is great, but there’s likely never going to be enough pressure on Konami from the player base

Me too,but I think is a combination, flamberge is a Crazy card,but without popplar and Princess It would be harder to access or revive etc, is like ash, flamberge, popplar,Princess are good cards,but the combination of them is what propels this to insane levels imo

Its better than a flamberge ban, but honestly oss into something like hydrant still just wins the game if not interacted with, as well as being hard to stop because there's a lot of extenders they could have. Granted there are a lot more bricks and awkward draws to have, and no bonfire into pop makes stopping witch harder to punish, but well you have the fiendsmith engine to make up for that and running a second oss isn't the worst thing. People also don't seem to realize how good rescue ace is at pushing through a board, ever since the last ban list you can actually push through a snake eyes board pretty reliable if impulse resolves turn one. I really don't find a world where rescue ace is the deck to beat to be healthier than snake eyes format, honestly its more frustrating because the main balance to that deck is just drawing awkwardly.

@@shawnjavery so basically we all can recognize that if they hit oss then the wanted package will be practically useless, which is a bad buisness decision by Konami. Also seeing as they are reprinting it in the mega tins means that we can probably infer that no parts of the package will be hit until a little bit after the drop. That is unless it gets out of hand with the fiendsmith package. Basically the main issue currently is snake eye. So that would probably mean that they will only hit snake eye specific cards rather than the wanted stuff. But you never know. I do agree that the wanted stuff is over powered but idk if that means Konami will hit it just yet.

@@razorglazor6003 banning Oak is the right play but probably not enough by itself. You can consider putting Poplar to 1 in addition to banning Oak. Putting Poplar to 0 will probably kill the deck, alongside banning OSS or Flamberge.

It takes away the most frustrating part of Snake and makes it less necessary to ban I:P

Honestly i just play with lower powered decks with no that many handtraps, who knew playing more casual stuff lead to a way funner game, my favorite deck to play cant even survive like 1 turn with modern cards lol

Pokemon has been it for me man. Cheap decks that are meta contenders, good spread of decks and interaction is more digestible

I remember being 9 or so going to an event at Toys R Us all excited, and my opponent hit me with Dark Armed Dragon and I stood no chance. It was the same back then.

Guess I lucked out as a kid cause the card shop I went to when I only knew about the game through 4kids was really good at treating new players (especially kids) well. They would always let me win one game a round and tell me kindly what I did well and what I didn't and how to improve. One time they even rearranged the brackets cause I got matched up against one of the best players in the area so they put me up against another kid. Good times

They enable Zeus a little too well and Ty-Phon is a thing so it can enable that too now.

Hitting oak does nothing, just like hitting Linkuriboh. You can easily access flamberg with fiendsmith engine.

Imo no. It plays enough awkward draws its never going to be tier 0 in rep. The deck has a high ceiling but you draw some unplayable hands, and a lot of hands that don't quite do what you'd want them to.

​@@Off_Screenthey are the only meta deck with easy access to omni negates on the rank 10 and the spirit fusion. Their only weakness is that they are somewhat prone to bricking with the lvl 10 garnets, but with the fusion they will have plays even if they brick.

The problem is snake eyes has too many negates. The only way to deal with them is through stun decks that lock the entire board and those are inconsistent
