I always thought it was cool that my laundromat had a gotcha style machine where you could get basketball cards or yugioh cards, but they had to be some of the earliest English fakes. Still played them back in the day. I even still have my fake Dark Magician, Blue Eyes, Selket, and Egyptian gods lol. This had to be back in 2000-01.
4:14 Now that I think of it, the card art of "Ultimate Offering" is pretty wicked. The "blood" paid forms into the summon as it is leaving the offerer. "The Price of Blood" sure is quite a name.
Absolutely enjoying your TCG and OCG Histroy videos Janjo! Definitely helps in understanding what cards came out at specific and understanding how the game progressed competitively in both regions. Keep up the good work! It be great to see you covering the some of the video games. Especially the ones that where consider for the card game before the actual game came out (The Duel Monsters games from the GB(C) and GBA and Forbidden Memories/Duelist of the Roses).
@ 3:30 I would like to point out that Reinforcements card on the Japanese card does not actually say "Reinforcements of The Army". It says 援軍 or えんぐん (pronounced engen), which alone means "Reinforcements". The word "army" is 軍 or ぐん and is not featured in the card's text. If the card would be officially named "Reinforcements of The Army", it was say 「軍の援軍」or 「援軍の軍」。「の」being the "possessive" particle used to indicate the reinforcements belong to the army. Ironically, another way to say it is 「陸軍の増援」or りくぐんのぞうえん (rikugun no zouen). 日本語書くことができる。この言語についての自分の洞察共有するのは良いことだと思った。

Wish we could get a new yugioh series with yugi and the gang returning but with newer cards. I would like the duels in the new show to be slow like goat format with the addition of new cards that make the game more playable and fun. No otks or 5 hours turns like modern yugioh, it would kind of be like what yugioh GX was.
