@@JanjoZone great game for the time,though it can get repetitive but still it was this game that taught me how to play yugioh along with the rulebooks from the starter decks at the time.

I love Eternal Duelist Soul,took me years to unlock all the cards and the duelists as well. It was the first Yugioh game I got in the 2000s.

The game that taught me how to actually play! I remember when I did first play this, I was bummed it used "Battle City Rules" because at the time, I hated tribute summoning.

This game came out before battle city even aired. I got it back then. Before this came out I remember this older boy was telling me how to duel based on the official tcg rulebook saying you can “attack the field” (direct attack) I just knew guy was lying tryna cheat lol

When Yugioh first started airing in the US I was so hyped for the game that I downloaded and played this game in Japanese and clicked around with the game until I figured out the rules and what a lot of the cards did The puzzles that were only in the Japanese version of the game were a real doozy since I couldn't actually read the cards and the English version of the TCG hadn't been released yet to give me context. But it really says something about how effective the UI really is that a 10 year-old who can't even read the cards can navigate the game and learn
@JanjoZone

It is a great UI!

Having not had a big playground scene at my elementary school when the game was starting off, EDS is where I really cut my teeth on Yu-Gi-Oh. As much as I prefer Stairway as my favorite of the duel simulators, that game owes so much EDS for laying the foundation.

Okay I started playing this after this video dropped and I'm OBSESSED. I've basically been playing a suped up version of The YK Detox Deck from YGOfrom0 and its been so fun to see my monsters graduate from Skull red bird to two headed king Rex to Guardian of the labyrinth to 7 colored fish. Yugioh at its finest

I never got to play Forbidden Memories back then, but my best friend had this one and we played together. The grind was much more bearable with the two of us taking turns. Whenever we got new physical cards (fake of course, they've never sold originals where we live) we would try the passwords and see if they worked. Surprisingly they did most of the time and gave us the actual card, and when they didn't work it was usually because the card was too recent to be in the game.

I didn't play the game, although I did play a lot World Championship 2006 AND Tag Force 1 which was crazy. Tag Force 1 was like a dream at age 15. I insisted my parents to buy it for me online (when they didn't like the idea at 2008), but they still got it for me. And I played so much. It was so much fun as the game started kind of like a dating sim (When I tried to hit Alexis...) and then it was great on everything. Looking back my decks were shit, as I tried to use very spesific cards and it didn't work well....

Oh, I remember Forbidden Memories, that game was so dumb, I love it! As far as videogames the first one I played (and the one I have the best memories, too) was the GX for the GBA, the trials on that game were pretty nice practice.
@DaakkuuYRS
@DaakkuuYRS 8 месяцев назад
Forbidden Memories was so bad. I hated it even back then when I didn't know much about gaming. The grinding at the game is stupidly long, and you get almost always shit in return to your effort. Not to mention that the battle system is boring and barely yugioh.
@elcheshireilustracion9396
@elcheshireilustracion9396 8 месяцев назад
@@DaakkuuYRS it was so whack. Just mashing monsters together until you had a Twin Headed Thunder dragon was so dumb. But I think that's part of the charm.

I never played EDS, a few months ago I preferred to play the Japanese version as the main menu is almost identical to the duel monsters 2-4 GB games, the images of the packs are the same as the OCG so I wouldn't have to memorize which pack is which. Curious enough, the track that plays when you duel against a randomly encountered rare hunter/ ghouls (the exodia guy, lumis and umbra, pandora/arkana) in the Japanese version is slightly different to EDS

EDS was definitely the easiest to understand yugioh game I played as a kid. Whereas Forbidden Memories would become nearly unplayable near the end. The only thing that made EDS kind of boring at times was the requirements for unlocking new packs and duelists at times. Why do I gotta duel someone 20 times?
