Well after being free for 5000 years and in a host body he can be crazy to anyone who are being mean to his host, Yugi's friends or has to play against Kaiba's game masters. Even has that saying when he wins or punishes cheaters in his Sadow Game ' Door of darkness now open!'
I love the way they symbolize how yugi feels about his alter ego through the shows various transformations. At the start you see yugi fall back into his darker half, all while looking helpless and almost terrified to an extent. Later on in the show we see the transformation become less and less polarizing, as yugi seemlessly goes between his 2 halves, showing his own growth throughout.
I absolutely love the ones where you see the shadow get bigger and the 3 eyes pop out, I honestly with Duel Monsters was like that. But I guess it makes more sense for thie series, knowing how it operates
Before Shunsuke Kazama, in Season 0, both Yugi and Yami Yugi are played by Megumi Ogata, she is the same voice provided as Petz and Haruka/Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon and even known to everyone in Danganronpa as Makoto Naegi. At the time, her performance as both personas were great back then. I totally dig the forgotten classic gem that some fans overlooked the lost season that was not aired on TV until the internet does. Yami Yugi back then was dark and dismal at the time and boy those eyes are gonna make anyone go down on their knees and bow to the whims of his majesty! 😁

A show where Yugi punishes truly corrupt people almost all the time while teaching the kids at home a valuable life lesson (don’t be greedy, don’t be manipulative, don’t be violent, etc.) or else you suffer horrible trauma? And to top it all off, there was a different game to be played each episode, this TRULY earning the name “King Of Games”? It’s almost like Yu-Gi-Oh had substance or something
I love the kind and sweet Yami Yugi from Duel Monsters (including Season 1), and I love the dark and ruthless Yami Yugi from Season 0 (who became kind and sweet too) ! @@algalax2 Enfin voyons ! Kazama est passable, mais il est meilleur quand il prend une voix profonde... Sinon, on dirait qu'il a mal à la gorge ou qu'il crie constamment... Alors que Megumi Ogata incarne non seulement Yami Yugi à la perfection en s'adaptant à sa personnalité, et aussi quand il s'agit de faire une voix profonde, mais dans le film de 1999 tiré de la saison 0 (film très sympa bien que trop court mais avec une OST de MALADE !), elle m'a littéralement prouvé qu'elle pouvait aussi faire une voix normale, une voix forte, sans avoir besoin d'être profonde ! Ce qui fait qu'elle aurait parfaitement pu jouer dans Duel Monsters ! Megumi Ogata reste et restera en première position, rien ne me dissuadera de ça !

Parce que quand je l’entends, il sonne actuellement comme un lycéen de 16 ans, bien qu’il sonne un petit peu « maladroit » dans le sens où il est timide et peu confiant, mais adorable. Alors que quand il fait Yami Yugi, tout ce que j’entends c’est: Ore no tan, DURO! MAJIKKU KĀDO, HATSUDO! TURAPPU KĀDO, HATSUDO! BURAKKU MAJISHUN NO SHOKAN! BURAKKU MAJIKKU! Aibō… Bref, une voix d’adulte de 18 ans normale, mais avec trop d’exagérations avec sa voix. (Bon, au moins il n’est pas comme Dan Green… mais sauf qu’on parle des voix japonaises, là!) Mais si tu préfères Ogata à Kazama, c’est ton choix.
@@algalax2 Ogata rendait Yugi tout simplement mignon et adorable ! Sa voix ne lui donnait peut-être pas 16 ans, mais je veux dire, Yugi a littéralement l'apparence d'un ENFANT ! Alors ça lui va ! Et c'est mignon ! Et quand elle prend une voix douce, comme pour le film et certains épisodes, Yugi en devient juste encore plus attachant ! Et puis Yami Yugi, son âge faisait vraiment 15-16 ans, j'admets qu'au début voir Yami avec une voix plus jeune, je ne m'y attendais pas, étant donné que j'ai grandi avec la VF de Duel Monsters, mais au fur et à mesure, j'ai trouvé qu'Ogata s'appropriait l'âge de Yami (16 ans) en plus de sa voix profonde, sa personnalité et son caractère froid et manipulateur qu'il avait dans la saison 0 ! Shunsuke Kazama lui donnait plus que 16 ans et, comme tu l'as dit, exagère trop dans sa voix. Après comme tu l'as dit, il passe mieux sur Yugi, bien que parfois ça semble trop innocent et joyeux. Et Dan Green (#Knuckles LOL)... ça va.
@@maryafantalia8614 Faut admettre qu’Ogata sur Yami Yugi m’était assez spécial, cette voix profonde qui révèle ce côté confiant et décontracté que Yugi n’avait pas auparavant… et c’est vrai qu’il sonne plus comme un ado de 15-16 ans plutôt qu’un pharaon égyptien millénaire de 3000 ans. (À moins qu’il était déjà un jeune pharaon à l’époque…) J’aime bien Dan Green sur Yami Yugi, mais parfois je le trouve assez over the top, avec sa voix virile contrairement à Sao, Ogata, ou même Little Kuriboh (Oui, je compte même Little Kuriboh que tu le veuilles ou non!) qui rendent Yugi plus posé quand ils l’interprètent.
The 1 who transformed in front of alieen has to be my favorite. It went all out in a few seconds. I kind of wish duel monsters route wld at least do this as a call back.
This version of Yami is much more psychotic that’s for sure, but strangely enough he has a younger-sounding voice whereas he sounds more mature in the main series.
This is how I can imagine how Yuya transforms into Zarc in my Arc V reboot ArcZ Also at 2:43 I can Imagine Zarc holding Suzy (Yuzu) like how Yami Yugi is holding Miho
Honestly i find this voice better because its a lot more child like while still holding the same confidence and intimidating tone, but that’s just my personal preference
The Japanese VA suits the villain of the week narrative format. The child's voice with a menacing bent is perfect for dealing with the thugs and bullies of season zero. If every episode featured deep voiced Dan Green as Yami presiding judgement over petty fraudsters, it would somewhat lose the impact it has in the grander storylines
As more time progressed for this manga it did tone it down the closer we got to today's yugi probably with some exceptions since it's the manga but the different games that was played during this time was really interesting
