@@infinite683 Tbf even to this Yugi, in the anime GX happens and Yugi sends Jaden back in time to fight him at his prime/most strongest……where he transforms into the Pharaoh to fight Jaden lol.

And in return Yugi gave him friends, his lost memories, a fun adventure and has finally released his soul from the puzzle and can actually go to the afterlife.

I started watching the sub over the dub and it’s definitely scripted way differently. Atem struggles hugely with self-confidence in ways that Yugi doesn’t, whereas Yugi struggles with his lack of strength. They really do complement each other and come off as partners.

Isnt Yugioh supposed to canonically be from Egypt? So the "spirit" should know how to play. That's the only thing im gonna push back on though cause isnt the whole reason Yugioh a thing cause Yugi solved that puzzle.

@@arcanefury3666 indeed, the pharaoh definitely knew how to summon his monsters, but he'd no nothing about modern card games, especially those shown in season 0. yugi moto must have taught him, or he was using his brain or something.

thing is, Yami and Yugi are the Kings of Games of their respective eras. They both have this inate ability (plot armor) to get good at any game quickly. Yami probably didn't need too much guidance to figure out modern duel monsters. Its especially present in the original concept for Yugioh where the evil spirit, the king of games, always seems to win his matches in the most random games. I know its not canon to season 1 onward, but its stil funny to me how that ancient egyptian pharaoh knew how regular playing cards worked and turned it into a shadow game. edit: even then, Yami's skill to randomly get good at a game is present in the dungeon dice monsters match with Duke (even if it is sorta bootlegged duel monsters lol)

If only the Copycat knew that fact, he wouldnt of lost every duel by copying other duelist's decks

Grandpa made the deck though, didn’t he? And whenever the story made mention of adding new cards it was always Atem who did it, like even on the actual date where Yugi made Atem take over for all of it, one of the stores they go to has cards and he buys a pack that includes lightforce sword which he openly comments on being useful. On the blimp in battle city it’s also Atem who’s actually shown looking over his deck and coming up with strategies. The only time yugi is actually shown building a deck is before he duels Atem and even then it was his knowledge of it that helped him win, even against the god cards, knowing his opponents deck list before hand was a big advantage. I’m not even sure if yugi himself has even had half a dozen duels, on the top of my head I can only think of four.

Honestly Yugi's deck with silent swordsman and gadgets was actually really well built. It was a stall deck that got stronger as the turns pass on with swords of revealing light to prevent silent swordsman from being destroyed and to boost it up as the turns go on, gadgets to keep card advantage and gandora to wipe the field clean when he's in a disadvantage on the field but because of the gadgets he has more cards in hand.

Not really a "fusion". Yami Yugi lost his memories when he sealed himself within the Puzzle, and thus when he was awakened he literally thought he was Yugi, as his only memories were those of Yugi. Atem knows how to play modern games because Yugi knows how to play them.

Yami is his own person. He was a Pharaoh whose soul inhabited the Millennium Puzzle Yugi wears around his neck, and any time Yugi is in trouble, Yami takes over to handle it. They're working together so that Yami can eventually be put to rest, iirc.
